Hello everyone,
When a colony in a nucleus has reached full capacity (6 seams of bees), then it's best to give them more space fast. You can either place another brood box on top or move them into a full sized hive.
I tend to double stack my Nucleus colonies so they have two brood boxes with a total of 12 frames rather than 6. This gives me more time for the colony grow stronger without triggering the swarm response to cramped conditions. Once the double stack is full, though, it's best to move the colony into a full sized hive asap rather than add another brood area, or you will be dealing with an unwieldy tower of boxes.
What is stated in this video still stands for a colony housed in a single brood Nuc box. You just have to move fewer frames across.
This video was filmed when I was in a bit of a rush (sorry), so there's no proper "goodbye," so please accept this one instead.
Hope you're all safe and well,
Goodbye!
Greg
