Today I am going to show you the best ways to transfer ALL of you data from your old iPhone to your new iPhone. I will be going from my iPhone 14 to my new iPhone 14 Pro but the same process will apply for all recent iPhones. This process will carry over everything: Apps, music, photos, messages, even your settings and wallpaper. Essentially will mirror you old iPhone onto your new iPhone! This will save you lots of time having to re-download and login into all you online accounts. At the end of the video I will also show you how to erase your old iPhone so you can safely sell it or pass it on without sharing any of your data! BEFORE YOU TRANSFER. Update to latest version of iOS. If you have Apple Watch, unpair it in Watch App. HOW TO TRANSFER FROM OLD iPHONE. Plug old and new iPhone into charger. Turn on new iPhone, hold close to old iPhone. Two options: download from iCloud or transfer from iPhone. 1. If you don’t already have a backup in iCloud, you will get temporary free storage to backup old phone to iCloud, to then download from iCloud to new phone (faster option if you have fast wifi, or already have a backup in iCloud). 2. Can also transfer directly from old iPhone to new iPhone, will need to keep phones close. Both options will transfer ALL data. Let's transfer directly from the old iPhone to the new iPhone! And there we go, all data is now transferred and you can now start using your new iPhone. Notice apps will still download in the background, can take some minutes but other than that everything is carried over. Side by side two phones are the same. HOW TO ERASE OLD PHONE TO SAFELY SELL. Now to safely sell or pass on your old iPhone, without sharing any of your data, it is essential to erase it! HOW TO BACKUP TO iCLOUD. Subscribe to iCloud+. Per month: $1 50GB, $3 200GB. Will automatically backup you phone every 24hrs in the background. Data in always safe, since iOS16.2 is also encrypted. @@benedikalala6551 I’ll be real with you. When I first got the 14 I hated it and I wanted my xr back. First reason was that I had to go to my carrier and get an e-sim bc I bought it unlocked at the Apple Store and he told me that if I mess it up, I have to bring it back to the store. Second reason was because I had to reset the phone twice because I had forgotten to back up my XR first. But once I learned how to use the phone, I LOVED IT!! hope this helps

@@ifigeniaypsilantou2871 I had this issue and I was really fed up! I went through every single video on the internet to try and fix this glitch, but nothing worked. And dont bother restarting it, it STILL wont work. In the end I had to manually install all the apps. But the photos and contacts werent a problem since I just airdropped them to my new iPhone. Im sorry I couldnt help 😞

I never got the option to Transfer from iPhone at 3:59 Apple support couldn't answer why. I heard online that the new phone's ios must be updated, so I set it up temporarily, just to be able to update it. Then I reset the phone and started the setup again. Still didn't get the option to Transfer from iPhone.

I think before anything, you should warn users that the new phone iOS should be up to date and the sims need to in inserted too (if keeping your number that sim needs to go into the new phone)....I didnt have either of these when I started the transfer which made it somewhat difficult.

Question I am hoping someone can answer: I started a transfer of an iphone 6s to a used iphone x yesterday and it stalled out when the x asked for an ios update. Most things are set up but not all of my data is transferred. Should I a. resest the x and try again? b. do the transfer some other way? I am most interested in not losing past phone call logs and messages? The two phones are operating on slightly different ios systems, if that is a factor. I cannot change either of their ios to be a match. I did try. Thank you for this concise video and the info about the rhinoshield..I will check them out.

Hi Dion, thanks for the explanation! I'm switching from an iPhone 7 plus (iOS 14.5) to an iPhone 14 pro max, does this feature also work for that kind of old models? Also, you said it transfers all messages, does this include Whatsapp data (messages, photos, videos etc.) or do you need a separate backup within Whatsapp for that? I have no backup in iCloud or Whatsapp because it's only 32 GB so I'm a little bit afraid that I might lose all the data when transferring Whatsapp.

Hi Alpher, sorry for the late reply. This should also work for the older models. If you have not enough space in your iCloud Apple will temporarily give you additional space, so all your data should be transferred.

I got my first iPhone a few years ago & just bought a replacement since the battery on the first one has downgraded & the charging port also needs servicing (or I’ll just sell it). Prior to this I’ve always had android phones & the process of transferring to a new phone was anxiety-inducing because something would ALWAYS go wrong- I would lose pictures, contacts, or data in the process, OR I’d end up talking to a customer service rep trying to get the new phone to recognize the new SIM card. Never fun. So I’ve been a little nervous about transferring everything over to my new iPhone but the process seems easy & straightforward enough. I’m definitely not going back to android as I’ve really gotten to enjoy iPhone, Apple iOS, & everything it has to offer. Thanks for the video!

Hi Maria, it does not really matter. I did it before, but either way works. There are many factors that determine the length of the transfer, from 30 minutes up to some hours

Hi Hanan, many factors are involved, from Wifi speed to proximity. In your case I would reserve a few hours at least

So, what happens if the WiFi cuts out for a bit in the middle of the process? Also will my old phone still be usable after I do the transfer? Also, when you said to keep both phones awake, does that mean they can't be left unattended during the transfer?

1. Depends, sometimes you have to restart the process 2. Yes. 3. I mean that the screens are on and yes, you can leave them unattended, but I would stick around just in case

Does setting it up this way rather than iCloud backup mean u don’t need to enter passwords again for apps and email etc etc. also will my watch need to be added to new phone or does that transfer too? Just got my yellow 14 today. My old phone is a 12.

HI, depends. In many cases it does transfer the passwords as well, but especially with the financial apps you will have to reintroduce them again

Thanks really helpful video . Would do this for my new iPhone . Also when we select phone to phone transfer option would the chats from what’s app also get transferred or that has to be done via iCloud? Also if we select transfer from iCloud, would it transfer all the apps as well?

The transfer took place without incident, thanks to your video instructions. I did notice, however, that there were 8 new apps that were not there before. A little soft-sell by Apple. 😊

May I know if there’s any reason why I did not get the option to choose between phone-to-phone versus "download from iCloud" as part of the Quick Start process (4m03s in your video)? I’d since completed the QuickStart process on my new device. But are you able to teach me if I able to tell which method did I end up doing my Quick Start with? I’d some screenshots captured throughout my own Quick Start process, so if there are other “clues” thereabouts to confirm if I did a “phone-to-phone” (instead of a “via-iCloud”), hope you can enlighten me.

mmm, not sure, it should show. perhaps something to do with the region? Anyhow, ultimately it does not matter, as long as the data are transferred and the phone to phone should work as well.
