Thank you Very Much for this Great tutorial it helped me get my 8mm Tapes from the 90's onto my Computer and saved to my exterior hard drive. Have a Great Day!
I have hit an issue, I have a Sony TRV 29 and I took a look at the jacks and the camera has a yellow video out and a black audio out jacks. What cable is needed for the black audio jack? I see yours has all three, but mine only has the two jacks (Yellow and Black).
Hi thanks for the video! Have you ever experienced some of your home video tapes not working at all? I used this method to transfer my tapes but some tapes were just fuzzy - but I know there was once recordings on them...
Just a quick tip. When you show stuff to your audience. It helps to actually put the item in front of the camera. Then we can actually see what you're talking about. I'm just saying.
What if my camera doesn’t play the videos because it’s too old 😭😭 is there any other way I can still convert the videos from the cassettes??? Please help!
Hello, Thank you for your video very useful indeed. Can you please let me know the exact name/model of the device which you used to connect your pc and the handycam. Thank you...
Thanks for sharing your video I’m having problems getting my mini dv footage imported onto my IMac I bought an Apple Lightning to FireWire 800 Adopter but no joy at all.
Where can I purchase the white adapter cable and the other cables? I have an sony handycam with 8mm tapes just like you did. I just need to know what kind of wires please.
I am missing the AV cable to my video camera that is identical to yours. Does any name brand/quality of AV cable work? How do I know if it is a quality cable? Does it matter if it is a cheap one?
Vicki English Hi , Did you ever locate an AV cable for it? I'm looking for one as well, with the yellow and black ends.. Can't find one like it, just a yellow, white and red rca that does not work.
I used to have the same cam recorder, but it stopped working a long time ago. Is there a hi8 cassete player i could buy to play the tapes on and transfer to my pc?
Curt, My new computer does not recognize the video coming from the USB from my ION Video 2 PC. The only capture it recognizes is from the computer dvd. Dont know what to do next
yes if you use a lightning to usb c to usb converter but then its not possible to connect another device due to the importance of the sleek design over usability. plus you need to upload it to icloud via itunes to avoid direct playback which could harm your device. and better don't smoke otherwise you might lose warranty claims should something go wrong.
I am having a problem with my video tape showing on my computer software it will let me capture the video but it will not play it while I’m capturing the video. can you help me?
Question. My husband had our 8mm tapes transferred or copied to a disc(DVD? Cd?) to be views on the computer. But I realized they can't be edited. There's a lot of crap I want to delete . Do you know now how I can do that? Btw, I have that same camera, but when I put one of the tapes into it that was also copied into a disc, there's just static. My plan was just to turn on the camera and record over certain minutes with the cap on. But theres just static now. So, is there a way to put the videos that are now on disc into my computer to be edited? I had our leftover tapes transferred onto an external hard drive. But need to figure out how to edit the previous tapes that were put on DVD.
can i ask a question- i have a video 8 camcorder (trv 48e), and i have connected it to my mini dv camcorder, (pc5e) so that i can use the firewire from my mini dv camcorder to get it on my mac but my mini dv camcorder doesnt have the vcr setting, it only says player, so when i try and play the footage from the video 8 camcorder, it doesnt come up on the mini dv one, is it because vcr and player are 2 different things?
Hi I have a simple question, you referred to a external hard drive would have a thousand terabyte, I mean that cant be right is it? I see plenty with 4 terabyte is that what you mean? I have a lot of super8 sony tapes that I need to transfer and of course save to a external hard drive. I must have 10 hours of tape time. so before I buy a hard drive what capacity of a external hard drive would I need. Thanks Tim
I have got the same sony camcorder as yours, but I'm having trouble connecting it to my computer because window 10 doesn't recognize the camcorder. I tried to find the driver for it but I only found the dcr-trv250 (which is thought to be the same driver as 280) but this driver is supported by window xp. Is there any way to make window 10 recognize the camcorde? Please help.
I have a bunch of sony hi8 mp 8mm video cassette, I no longer have the camcorder anymore (it broke and I got rid of it) is there anyway to view or transfer what in on the tape without the camcorder
Hey I want to transfer old VHS-C tapes onto my computer with my camcorder. It only has the yellow and white outputs on the camcorder, would that work when i hook it up from the camcorder to the adapter?
Hello I have tapes that my grandfather video taped on his video camera in the early 90s like 1992. I tried to play it last night and I noticed the tape had degraded quality. I was still able to see video quality in the middle of the motion picture alright but on each side of the picture you could see the static. If I use this device to convert the 8 mm tapes that was stored in my grandfather's suitcase could I revive the quality on it to work a 100 percent like new? It seems to me that the tape had 30 percent quality on it....you could still see the video slightly but the quality was so degraded. I noticed when I tried replaying it, I was unable to view it again. Could it also be the heads on the camera that need well cleaning? I hope I didn't loose the tape forever.
hi, I want to convert all my cassette records to digital format. I require the pincle..sw and device. Can u give more details on those. Where can i buy. What is the model number. thanks in advance.
I have Sony DCR-HC21 HandyCam, I used the HandyCam once or twice since 2007 so it's a new old HandyCam. The software Picture Package worked on my Windows XP, the XP is deep 6 now; but I had a laptop with Windows 7, but I had a problem with my laptop and I took it to the computer shop to fix it, they updated to Windows 10 without my knowledge of it. Now, I don't know how to operate my laptop and it frustrating. I struggle through it. I never got the Picture Package ver. 1.5.1 on it. Sony directed me to download PlayMemories Home and I download it on there, but the laptop only has HDMI and USB ports, no AV ports all all, but the tapes don't transfer at all with USB elink to computer. So it has to be with A/V out and it only has RED, YELLOW, WHITE PLUGs, NO BLACK plug, Would this Pinnacle Capture work on this / situation? It's got to be easy as I grew up with no computers, and even the old outdated electronics is difficult. Now appears to be play and go is no longer anymore.. So I rely on RU-vid to help and assist me. I go back and buy a new CamCoder would be cheaper, but i have a lots of MiniDV cassettes to transfer. If I bought a new Sony HD CamCorder HFR 700 i'm sure it would work then I would have my four CamCorders that i would use once or twice in the next ten years. I appreciate your RU-vid video. Long winded to get to the point, Is this Pinnacle and software going to have the divers to help me? It look easy for you?
I was born in 2003 and I am trying to understand these stuff so I can watch videos from when I was a baby. I dont think I still have the cd, what can I do?
I have the exact same camera with video edit hookups and software, my problem is I get sound but no video. When I transfer my VHS tapes it works great but I would like to transfer my camera footage as well.....any ideas what I am doing wrong?

I've got a Panasonic Video Camera and I've literally just found a goldmine of my dad's VHS home video tapes in the attic. They are like the bigger VHS Tapes though so is there a way I can transfer those too?
