Currently on a Optiplex 7040, but swapped it to a bigger case with GTX 980, 4tb WD black HDD, 250gb ssd etc. Whole build was £320 to buy. Need to replace motherbaord though, the weird form factor of the Optiplex made it sit weird in the new case and I have it held down by one screw loool
@@ZeRDTechGaming I moved house with this PC, I was sacred the motherboard would rotate and die during transit. One screw holding motherboard down is really sketchy but it is what it is, laying flat on it's side. I wish your video was about 9 months ago - I would've learned a thing or two, excellent video bro - new subscriber :) the GTX 980 was my dream card when I was in school and finally got my hands on one, budget PC build (i call it the ghetto build). Have a good day man!
lol one screw! that is scary. You should try to get a Z170 or any B150 that has some good VRMs. Thanks, I appreciate you watching. You know, as long the PC is working fine, it's all good in my book.
Hey hello. I am glad you did this , awesome dude! I been had the precision 3430 , same motherboard layout, but with a 8700... my issue was finding the right case; and you have fix my concerns on the front I/O...i probably will run a 10 or 20 series card... thanks again
As someone who is recovering from an illness I'm really happy to hear you're better. God bless your recovery and looking forward to your future content
Thank you. I will be case swapping an optiplex 3020 mini tower to an ASUS ap201 prime. Should be fun. Already have the header adapters. The machine will be a dedicated Batocera Linux emulation machine. Will be fun to setup. Oh and it will be connected to a CRT🩵
Linux, that is awesome! I'm plaining to install Bazzite in one of mine it should be fun too. Also good luck with the case swap for any questions join the discord discord.gg/bE6wZtX4Ug
Nice video. I've heard it could be done, but honestly I don't see too many people case-swapping SFF Optiplexes. I think this is actually the first video I've seen someone DO it. Decent choice of video card, though it might be a little on the weak side when paired with 8th gen, Maxwell is still an acceptable choice in 2024. 17:07 I'm confused, if you cut the jumper doesn't that make it null and void? What's the point here? Also, isn't there a chassis intrusion switch? My 4th-gen (3020) has one. Does the 8th/9th gen model not bother with that? I mean, it's not a big deal, and you could ignore messages about it.
Thanks, I appreciate you watching. The GTX 970 graphics card may not be adequate for the CPU in question. A GTX 1660 graphics card would be a more suitable option. In regards to the pins, severing them will enable the computer to boot and circumvent the security measures. Conversely, if the metal remains intact, the PC will be unable to power on.
Hi, you were indeed correct in a way. I tested it with another jumper cap that I did not cut. The PC still booted and bypassed the error codes just like the one I cut. Lol It seems I do not need to cut them anymore. I appreciate your feedback.
I wish i could get into this fusion of gaming pc and office pc but at my place the price of a office pc is the same or not higher than 2nd gaming pc T_T
Of course. If the price difference between the two options is insignificant, it would be more advantageous to opt for the gaming PC. However, the ultimate decision should be based on your specific requirements and preferences in the market.
Great video! I have a question about the jumper you cut. When you cut it does it no longer connect the 2 pins that the jumper is attached to? If so what purpose does it have anymore? Please clarify. Thanks and keep up this great channel!! I have s similar Dell motherboard and want to do the same to mine! Take care.
Thanks, I appreciate you watching. Regarding the jumper cap, it's not required, but if you want to bypass the annoying Dell alert, like "Power Button Cable failure," then it's a great option. Also, cutting the jumper cap will prevent the PC from turning on by itself.
I found a jumper cap inside my old motherboard qnd its the exact same thing as yours so can i use that one? And can you please make a video on installing rgb strip lights inside the case, thank you bro 💓
what an amazing tutorial im gonna case swap my dell optiplex 9020 SFF im gonna buyt he pin connector's and stuff an upgrade is gonna cost me 200$ im trying to use my 1050ti and hopefull get a 2tb SSD :) im gonna case swap into my corsair 4000D case :)
That's awesome! A Corsair 4000D is a very nice case. One suggestion, get a 1TB SSD and save the money for a better graphics card. Like a Gtx 1660 Super or Gtx 1070.
@@ZeRDTechGaming 1tb ssd is what i was looking to get except i need 2tb for making thumbnail's and gaming maybe some video editing and the gpu i have rn is a gt 1030 ddr5 (there is alot of bottleneck thanks for suggesting the 1660 super and 1070 will definitely look into it
Hey man. Love the video! I have a few questions. After jumping the power button and plugging the case power button in. Does it show the power button failure error that requires you to press f1? Thanks!
Thank you very much, and I appreciate you watching. As long as you put a jumper cap on, it will not show. 17:03 Also, the reason I cut it is so that the PC doesn't turn on by itself.
When I leave it uncut, as soon as I turn the power supply on, the PC will automatically turn on by itself. Also, the CPU fan won't stop spinning even if I turn off the PC. Maybe it's just the Sama Case.
Hello,Since i am new to computers, can i ask you a few help questions? Firstly, after i install the dell motherboard, will i need a adapter or anything to connect it to the power supply or the pc case/fans? Second, will i get any errors? Third , do i just plug in the power cable in the pins?
Yes, you will need power adapters if you are using a different power supply. You will need a 6-pin to 24-pin adapter. As for fans, it's better to have a case that comes with a fan hub or controller. For the front panel, you will need to connect the 2 USBs to USB 3.0 ports. To avoid getting an error during boot, you have to jump the power pins like I did in the video. I recommend re-watching the video because I explained everything in detail. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. I appreciate you watching
@@ZeRDTechGaming yeah true u would at least need another fan for the top u could get the thermal right 3 pack of white fans so u could fit it at the bottom asw
So I was trying to follow this guild but I can’t seem to get the fans and rgb working, I’m swapping a 7040 sff, I can’t seem to find where to connect the fans for them to work
olá muito bom ajudou muito excelente parabéns. tenho um dll optplex7070 e também quero por uma placa de vídeo mudar gabinete e a fonte e o seu vídeo foi perfeito pra tirar minhas dúvidas obrigado
Hello, how did you connect front fans to the mobo?does it have like pins for the fans or you used a molex to 4pin fans switchers/conncetors?i want to build something like this so im a little interested
I have a Dell OptiPlex 7070 small form factor pc and I am upgrading everything to a gaming pc. My questions are about the power supply and the 24 pin to 6 pin. Can I use the same power supply you use and the adapter and not fry my motherboard?
@@ZeRDTechGaming Oh I bought a Cooler Master case and bought a ARGB splitter hub and when I connected it via SATA power it didn’t turn on what fan hub can I buy? Because the case didn’t come with a fan hub and the motherboard doesn’t have a ARGB or a PWM system fan header it only had the cpu fan cooler header
i tried doing this and everything was going well until i tried playing games and the pc shutdown. Im using a Rx580 sapphire pulse, i tested it with another card (r7 350) and everything works well but when i put the rx580 it justs turns off 10 ~ 20s after booting a game, Does anyone have an idea why this happens? Looking online it said that the pcie conector is limited to 55w on these SFF PCs but im not sure if that the issue I know the rx580 works because i can use it on other PCs, the power supply im using is a EVGA 750 GQ
This sounds like a power supply issue or the graphics card itself. Also, what's the wattage of the PSU? Also, try reseating your RAM sticks to see if there's anything wrong with them.
Thanks man i am like depreased idk how to discribe it lol, there’s no solution you’re the best thanks man, is that also works on dell optiplex 7040 i am wondering if that’s works, does the audio also will work with this 2 usb adapter and sadly I can’t afford for the power supply can i use usb to sata for the front fans of the case sorry for the bad english
The PC case that I used in the video came with a fan hub because the Dell motherboard does not come with any fan headers besides the CPU fan header. Another option is to use a fan splitter and plug it into the CPU fan header.
That only occurs if your power supply comes with an 8-pin CPU power cable. Simply plug in the other 4-pin connector instead of the one you connected. Also, I will make a short video to help you out.
@@ZeRDTechGaming ah ok! I do have extra PSU's I can try. My current PSU i have is a 8pin one that doesn't separate. Thanks for the tip!! I will try that tonight.!
The RX 6400 is the best single low-profile card right now because of its price. It's best to upgrade the PC first because the RTX 3050 6G is not great for its price.
I'm sorry, I misread because you said it's an i5 13th gen, but it's a 7010 i5 3rd gen. Actually, yours is way easier to case swap because your motherboard is a regular mATX. All you have to do is get a case like the SAMA in the video, a power supply that's if you want to use a GPU that requires any power connector.
I need someone to help me I don't know much about PC and I want one for my son and just cuz I don't know much about PC I don't with one to get there's different opinions on a lot of people
Certainly. Could you please provide me with your budget range and your son's age? This information will enable me to provide you with more tailored recommendations.
$500 to $600 would be a great budget for those games and future-proof. Also, I'm currently in the process of building a PC that can play all those games.
Hi, sorry, just to know I stop, watching the video because of integrated subtitles. It's sad because I like watching dell Optiplex content on RU-vid but it's to much distraction for me to see moving subtitles (btw I'm not a native english speaker)
Although you have a valid point, it seems that the motherboards available on eBay are priced at $50 and above. Furthermore, it is understandable to question the need for purchasing a new item when the current one is functional and serves its purpose.
