More and more teachers are landing great instructional design roles, but how are they doing it?
You already know it’s important to make your portfolio and resume the best they can be, but there’s more to it than that. What are the details that determine who finds success and who struggles when breaking into the field?
In this video, Scott Schmidt goes beyond the basics and shares what factors really mattered in his transition from teaching to instructional design.
He gives helpful insights about how to approach the entire process from planning to interviewing, and reveals how he was able to find an instructional design role that he loves.

I absolutely agree that we should be honest during interviews. Be confident if we have the skills😀

The straw that broke the camel's back for me was yet another notice about teacher training. I've had 15 hours already this year and, clearly, there was no one with ID experience behind any of them. If someone with some skill and respect for my time and existing training had designed those staff development modules, I might not be here. No wait, the other straws were growing.

I recommend my teacher friends to consider transitioning into ID! However, I want to transition out of ID. Any suggestions? 😢

UX is a popular choice! Although the number of opportunities seem to have dried up a bit in past year or so in that space.
