How to trap a feral cat 

Correct, I just found this beautiful cat, she is thin and I can't just leave her out there...

Cat's around my area have a walk-in but no walkout appointment.

How do you trap a cat that previously has been trapped?? He knows better. He won't ever go in a standard trap, but got trapped in a drop trap but got away. Need to catch him asap. He has a bad njury that I want to have fixed by the veterinarian.

Update: While pulling out of the driveway on my way to get my trap I saw the feral mama cat dead on the side of the road. Not the ending that I was looking for. She's buried with my other babies and tears have been shed. Feral cats have a rough life. I wonder if she was looking for a place across the street, where it's quieter, to have her litter because her belly was big yesterday when she was still alive. RIP Jellycat, aka Jellica. : ( My 2 domestic females have an outdoor habitat that I built for them so they wouldn't end up as roadkill. They tolerate the habitat, but I'm giving them no choice, but to live a hopefully longer life.

Yes it's possible, but you might have better luck with a "Drop Trap".

One alternative approach is to use a water bottle to prop open the door (instead of the trigger mechanism). Tie a long string around the bottle and watch from a distance. When you feel like the cat you want to trap is securely inside (and the other is not), pull the string so the bottle comes out and the door closes.

@@FeralCatsOregon Thanks. They actually got a little friendlier as time went by, and I was able to easily get them both into a carrier. But that's a good idea. Next time, I'll have to try it. Though really hoping there is no next time. Ha!

@@BOSS_DOG One springs the trap and the other one gets slammed in the door following her in. Not smart. Besides, I already caught them both with just a carrier.

@@cadlac59 EXACTLY. I've taken a few friendlies to get fixed.

I read one time that if a cat is not ID'ed and / or neutered then it is considered feral. Which is why it is important to neuter and microchip ID pet cats (or any pet / animal). Here in France animal refuge centers usually keep animals (usually cats) for about a week. If no-one shows up looking for it then the cat is either released where it was live-trapped, or put up for adoption.

​@@13harrmy moms cat got out on accident( she's trongly against letting cats out) but it was a bad time...Their park was trapping cats and must have caught her...She's microchipped but it didn't do any good as no one called...I think they trapped the cats and killed them

Yeah, cats are pretty invasive.

She's talking about an appointment with the local feral cat spay/neuter program! The goal is to trap ferals, take them to a vet to be fixed, and either release them to their original location or, if they're young enough to be socialized, find them homes.

I used 1 trap caught one then waited a day or so then reset it. Used Tuna in Oil or sardines in oil.

That's what the, "family" gets for thinking it's OK to let cats run loose... If it's properly chipped, they will get it back after a good lesson...

I have cats kills birds in my yard and use my fruits tree wells as liter boxes. Keep your darnn cats in-doors. Why do some cat owners think that their cats have the right to roam in everyone else’s yard?!? I prefer the birds over the cats any day. I don’t care whether ferrel or not. If I can trap them, I am relocating them. Let them play w/ the coyotes.

@Oreo Cookie The cats that attack my chicks are pet cats.Those pet cats are well fed by their owner.But the owner is very stupid why they still buy cats even though they dont supervise their And i just dont hate cats because they eat my pets,they also poop everywhere All over the garden, the garage, and even outside my gate. And i got new batch of chicks from my hometown and i watched them everyday and luckily my hardwork didnt go to waste,my chicks now have become very cute and chuby chickens. So please understand why i hate cats. (I dont hate all cats but just those pesky pet cats that roam around)

@Oreo Cookie But the worst part of the cat owner's stupidity is they keep on buying more and more cats because i keep on seeing more and more cats going from all the same direction,the stupid cat owner's house. I am not that very mad at them like a want kill them i just have a bit of anger on those pet cats because they always come back all the time even when i shoo them away with a long stick unlike those other cats that never go back after i shoo them away, i guess not all cats are scared of humans. And all those pet cats that walk around on a line are all going to my house, i think they got used to go there to hunt they're free chicken meal. One night i go outside to check my pets and luckily they are all fine, but when i was going to go in, i saw glowing eyeballs under the car,then i saw 3 cats waiting there, i know they are pet cats because i memorized the appearance of the stupid owner's cats. And the other night i saw them again. I got used on shooing cats away that i am not that mad anymore. And i upgraded the chicken's coop so no chicken will be harmed anymore.
