Hey guys, great video. Very helpful. Been doing some practice with our dogs camping around sunraysia recently, getting ready for a bigger trip down the track. There were some great tips in this video that we will definitely take note of.
I travel with my dogs, and I don’t have any issue at all really. My thing is, my dogs come first, so if my dogs are not welcome, not a problem, I don’t get annoyed, , I just won’t bother staying there. They can’t go in National Parks, and we’ll, I am fine with that too. Enjoy your travel with dogs.
So glad I found your channel! My partner and I are planning on travelling Aus in 2025 with our 3 year old Golden who is also raw fed (on big dog). So happy to hear its possible! We are also planning on having a bag of Ziwi peak air dry as back up as a worst case scenario.
They really are the best dogs! Jorja just loves being with us no matter where we are, makes travelling so much easier! Thanks for watching from all the way over the other side of the world! Enjoy your travels! 🏴🍻
Great video, we have two and are just starting out in a 4wd, wanting to take our babies with us the older one use to go on adventures and want them both to experience it. Unfortunately we will only have a tent and not sure we can leave them it that while we explore!
There is one NP where dogs are allowed on a lead. It's just south of Crescent Head in NSW. Story goes the previous landowner made dog access a condition of the land becoming a NP. Good for him.
We just did 5 weeks around Western Qld with our dog and made it work fine. Many people are travelling with dogs. Most places have free or cheap camps where dogs are allowed. We use a mixture of kibble and MyDog tins from the supermarket. Works fine. Most dog owners are responsible keep their dogs under control. Our dog has had obedience training and is very well behaved.
Really enjoyed your very informative video & your info was helpful. We are planning on taking our 2 small dogs next year on the big one, looking forward to making memories with our fur babies too! Love your Jorja & can see how much you both do too! Are concerned about the careless owners of dog’s off lead as you cannot always know what may take effect.
So love this episode this is one thing that we loved when we started following you guys as we couldn’t imagine travelling with out our two girls and love how you take her with you to all These amazing places
Cheers guys, that means a lot to us! We love that so many of you can see how much we love and care for Jorja, it’s awesome! You said it yourself, can’t imagine travelling without her!! Thanks so much for following along our travels and watching guys! 🍻
Great Video guys . Me and my wife and Perdi our dog ,wanting to travel NSW and more with our dog .She is part or our family . we have to check out some dog friendly camp site s . She is chipped and fully vaxed up
Great episode, we take our dog everywhere with us. If he can’t go then we won’t go, it was the same when we had our old boy, we lost him 3 and a half years ago, but he came on all our trips. Jorja is very cute.
We couldn’t imagine travelling without Jorja! What a lucky life you give your dogs, they deserve it too! Thanks so much for watching, glad you enjoyed it! 🍻
I'm that pet parent that won't go to my adult child's house for Christmas because its really hot and my dogs need to be inside in the air con so I need to supervise them.
Hi guys great youtube. We have just finished a trip to the Eyre Peninsula with our Rhodesian Ridgeback and would always have him on our caravan trips the best memories. Totally agree the worst thing is the other irresponsible pet owners.
I subscribed because you love Jorja as much as my wife and I love our dogs. Our girl also has incontinence from spaying. We haven’t left our dog alone for the last 7 years. Maybe put a camera in your van that you can see from your phone. Are you able to recommend a beach that allows camping with dogs around South East QLD or Northern NSW?
Thanks so much for subscribing guys, we really appreciate it! We didn’t realise how common it was in female dogs until we changed vets and they explained it further to us, Jorja is really good with it now because we keep on top of it and hasn’t been an issue for years now! We can’t think of any beach camps in those areas but I’m sure if you look on WikiCamps or even Hipcamp you will hopefully be able to find something around there! Thanks so much for watching guys! 🍻
I have been so looking forward to this episode. Thanks for taking the time to make it ❤ we have a cavalier King Charles named Tommi and at the moment only go away for weekend trips and leave him home with my parents as we are very nervous as to how he will cope in the van. You have given us confidence to give it a go! We will soon have another cavalier King Charles named Layla. Do you know if caravan park owners are reluctant to have people who have 2 dogs as opposed to having only 1 dog? Thanks Ange
No dramas Ange glad you got plenty of value from it! Generally I haven't seen too many rules on the number of dogs, I think two as long as they are well behaved you should be fine! Thanks for watching Ange and safe travels with your puppies!
OMG we can SO relate to your comments about off-leash dogs! Amazing how many people don't understand the rule 'your dog has to be on the leash all time'. Thanks for this episode.
@@taelor56 happened to us and could have been avoided: Our dog was on leash. Another dog (a mastiff cross) came running towards us from about 50m distance (not on leash). The owner called 'he is friendly', in the same moment that dog attacked our dog. The owner struggled big time to get his dog off our dogs throat and he was a strong guy! So ... how do you know a dog does not attack other dogs? These are ANIMALS. These are DOGS ... not plush toys. They are not predictable unless the owners are highly trained dog people and the dog had professional training. And even then ... its NOT a reassurance that the dog would not follow it's instincts whatever that might be and whatever caused the attack.
@@asnomads I said the rule is unnecessary in many places, I didn't say there aren't any bad owners going to break the rules no matter what. But there are definitely dogs out there that are no problem at all when off leash
@@taelor56 That's what that owner thought before it happened. The dog is no problem. ... he never did that before (so said the owner). Rules are rules. Red light means red light. On leash means on leash.
Thanks so much for your tips and suggestions. Our goldy Shandi is 4 and she developed an incontinence condition so now she has a small tablet once a week and this has made all the difference. Pretty much the life you are giving your beautiful girl we will endeavor to provide for Shandi on the road. Will look into Big Dog pet food as Shandi has a raw diet and special kibble and I was wondering how I was going to prepare and portion off and freeze her food.
Glad you got so many great ideas from this video! Your golden girl sounds like she is going to get the best life, hopefully we will see you on the road! Thanks for watching! 🙌🏼
Thank you for sharing story about being fur baby parents ❤️ Jorja is absolutely beautiful 🐶🥰, we travelled with 1 dog & 2 cats for many memorable years...which are now are in pet heaven💞 😶🌫️💖
Planning a big trip now. I have a list of (so far) 145 places I want to see. I believe we'll be lucky to get to 80-90 of them. When I started the list I had a tick column on my spreadsheet for pet/s allowed. After more than 50% of the top 50 are national parks....the dog stays home.
You guy's are the exact same as me and my hubby. Only our fur baby love's the lion king. 😂 We are just about to do the lap. If our baby is not allowed it's no bother, we just won't go.
Beautiful 😍 story Sad to see so many irresponsible dog owners who do not consider others 😢 Awesome tips 👌 for many of us who are considering traveling with they four legged family member , greetings from south africa 🇿🇦 👏 😀
It really is disappointing when other dog owners aren’t doing the right thing! Glad you enjoyed the tips and thanks so much for watching from so far away! 🤩
So glad we aren’t the only dog parents that do this 🤣 bonus points for also having a Goldie, they are just the best dogs!!! Thanks so much for watching, glad you loved it! 😊
Cheers mate! I think it would fully depend on what National park mate as each is so different, as we mentioned in the video we found a lot in QLD were okay if you left them in the car and were on the main roads but each park has their own rules, simply just search online before you head in to check it out mate. Enjoy and safe travels!
We traveled for 2 months with our dogs and as much as we love them, would never do it again. Still take them on short trips though. We just found it too restrictive having them with us on the bigger trip.
Fair enough guys! At least you know now what you do and don’t want when you travel, it’s all trial and error really! Amazing that you still take them away on your smaller trips, I bet they love it! Thanks so much for watching! 🤩
our dog comes camping short & long trips, no is not an option. when we do eventualy travel shes coming regardless. good to see other ppl out there taking theirs. cheers.
We normally only do long weekend trips away and always take our dogs. End of the year will be our first 3 week trip away and definitely taking them both with us. Wouldn't be the same without them. Can't wait to give them new things to sniff 😆 Have booked kennels for one night so we can go to Rottnest Island.
Sounds like it’s going to be an epic trip, your dogs are so lucky they get to tag along with you! Thanks heaps for watching guys, hope you got some great tips!! 🙌🏼
We have been full time on the road for 5 months with our 8 year old Pom, i would be lying if i said it was easy traveling with her, we have missed out on so much. No traveling in national parks, many nice caravan parks don't accept dogs so you need to find an alternative, you cant really leave your dog in the caravan for more than a few minutes, we have tried it and she gets very stressed. So forget about going for hikes in national parks, or local tourist sights as many don't allow dogs. Also forget about going to popular beaches, restaurants or McDonald's etc for as you cant leave the dog in a hot car or in the van for the day.Forget about going for a walk around the shops together, even to pick up groceries, everything is generally done one up while the other looks after the dog or stands outside on the footpath. We have put her into daycare a couple of times when we wanted to do a day tour and organising this was difficult to say the least when in a small town. From personal experience i would say if you can leave your pet home, then do so, you will have a much better traveling experience and you will actually be able to see the many sights that Australia has to offer. In our case we have no choice and she needs to continue travelling with us, maybe in a few years when she has passed we will revisit all the places we have missed, but for now we make do and enjoy what we can.
Hey mate! Sorry to hear your experience travelling with your dog hasn’t been the best! As we mentioned it does come down to each persons dog and how the go being along, we are also very fortunate to have the batteries & inverter to be able to run our aircon so Jorja is conformable when we need to leave her for a short time! Thanks for watching guys! 🍻
Hi guys we have a golden looks very much like Jorja and her name is Flame. She is coming up 15, but we have never travelled with her. My motto is "No outfit is complete without dog hair"
Oh no way haha how good, such a cute name! Hahahah so true! We love having Jorja apart of our travels and wouldn’t have it any other way! Thanks for watching!
My biggest question/ concern is wet dog. Especially living in The van full time. The amount of towels required and how often do you wash? Both the towels and Jorja? 😂 Also I can imagine there will be times where it rains for days at a time, How do you exercise and toilet???
Glad you enjoyed it! The brand is called ‘Big Dog Pet Foods’ and you can get them from most pet stores, just check on their website 😊 Thanks so much for watching!
Please don’t go to the terrier country stay with the bigger dog, my kelpie cross somewhere between 11 and 14 unknown rescued special owns my Jeep and is super nice and quiet with everyone.
I was wondering if you have driven with jorja through the outback or through a long stretch of hot weather? I am meant to be driving from east coast across to port headland to live, I’m worried about flying my dog as she stresses out in kennels. I’m not sure how to achieve this, do you have any advice?
100% on your wave length. Pretty much take my dog (long haired shepherd) everywhere and where she can't go she's happy tied up to the van with a big bucket of water and awning. She feels like she's guarding the van for a bit. She absolutely loves just being with us.
My wife is so scared do this travel round Australia- if I can I want to start it next year- we are both workaholics and this is a massive mind set change, we lost family and siblings to cancer and suicide, if you can imagine all the shit stuff that happened to a good family it happened to us. We do ask God the why’s - but why not us. We are all not excluded from bad things happening to to good people. This for the dog video- we won’t do this with out them
Sorry to hear mate! I couldn't think of any more better reasons to why you shouldn't get out and start travelling asap! Just got to do it or you never will. Safe travels!
