I am planning to go summer of 2020 and i have to say this has been the most useful vlog i have seen so far. Very detailed. I am planning to go w/ my bf for about 2 weeks just around Italy but still looking for the places to go. Thank you for this short but informative video!!!
Life of Lin I do a two week, international solo trip every year. I’m doing London-Paris-Rome this year with a pit stop to the Amalfi coast. This video helps a lot!!!
This is very helpful for my trip for the end of the month. It didn't have a lot of unnecessary information like most of the videos that I've watched. And it gave me exactly what I needed in terms of price and destination and location
Thank you so much. I am new to Italy living in Vicenza, I was looking at the rail passes and I was discouraged on how expensive they were, much more expensive than Korea. This will save me alot of money on my future italy trips
I could not believe how cheap first class was in Italy. Me and my daughter had the entire car to ourselves. Coach was packed but for like $20 more, you could get all that room. Totally worth it.
please let me know if you have any questions on traveling in Italy by train here. if you want to get $35 while you are traveling in Italy, click here: lifeofl.in/airbnb
thank you, very helpful video. how much time in advance should I book the tickets for high speed trains (long distances,ex Rome to Florence)minimun time required? there is a speed train from Venice to Rome? How long the train take from Venice to Rome? thank you very much
Oh sorry, I underestood you can't go to the train station and simple buy a ticket for example to go from Rome to Firenze in a high speed train at the very moment you intend to go, well is better then!....by the way I thought was arround 3 hours and half to get to Rome from Venice, because it takes two hours to travel from Firenze to Venice and Firenze its nearest to Venice than Rome.thank you for your time and your video
@@LifeofLin I was, just decided yesterday not to go :( because I need a visa and for that they want me to buy a return airfare, all the accommodation and train tickets, and I am not sure if I want to risk it. What if my visa gets rejected then I lose such a lot of money.
This video was just what we were looking for, thanks! And those websites were great! Any opinion on the Eurail vs the Other high speed trains? Is the Eurail worth it?
Just letting you know, 1. Ostiense is a mere 7km from Termini, nobody takes taxis in Rome. 2.Rifredi is better than S.Maria Novella if you're going into the duburbs. And 3. Italtreno is cheaper than Italrail
Thanks for the informative video. For long distance train that you used ItaliaRail, can those tickets be bought in person at the station or only through website?
The long distance one depends on the train you take, the intercity is much cheeper but, older, less comfy, slow, and takes much more time then freccie and italo because it stops in more stations
Your tips are great and concise. Info with visuals makes things so clear. Thanks. Do we have two options in trains( Regional and Long distance both) to choose from ( in some cases, if not all) while travelling between two cities for eg- Pisa- Florence , Florence- Venice. Its confusing. How do I know which train should I opt for? For eg- I tried to book tickets for Florence- Venice for afternoon however it just showed me one late night option which did not suit my needs at all. Where can I find other trains? I need to make quick trips between Roma Termini- Pisa, Pisa- Florence, Florence - Venice at the end of the day in a single day . Cant figure out where the train options are ?Thanks
Life of Lin I hope so! After the pandemic is over. I plan to go to Rome, Florence and Milan. Where exactly can you find the train stations? are they hard to find? xox
thanks for the great video! we will be traveling in June and want to purchase Rome to Florence tickets in advance. I cant imagine, it being high season, that the train will still have available seats the day we decide to go? How far in advance did you buy your tickets? I appreciate your help!
Check also for traveller offers like "roundtrip" daily option that include not just "one way"only trip, but also travel back as long it is performed into 24hours (saves 25% to 35%) or "1+1 Offer" or "Insieme - Together" that are issued from time to time for peoples who travel with friends, or who travel in couples. This kind of ticket saves you 50% of the price. Hope you will be enough lucky to find one of these offers.
I still have not study about the road map from the airport Rome to terminal train.which one I should go or use from the airport? How long does it take? I want to take a train from Rome terminal train to Montova
i spent 2-5 days in each city in Italy and i feel like that is perfect. i passed through Milan this time but didn't get a chance to visit it this time!
Great video. Helpful, Although you may have mentioned before but I will be traveling with one carryon trolley(21'') and one bigger trolley(28''), so i should be fine while traveling even if I am not using first class in terms of luggage? are the overhead bins big enough to keep bigger bags there or do we need to keep them separately. I read somewhere that we need to keep them in luggage storage area at the end of the the coach.
Hi! Thanks for posting this video on your travels it is so helpful! I was wondering what you generally wrote in the email that you sent to them to get a refund for the fee? Was it in english or Italian? And how would you recommend "wording" the email? Also! You are so cheery and lovely in your videos, keep on creating!
@@LifeofLin If they're referring to a ticket purchased from the train's website and printed out at home, I've read that it doesn't need to be validated at the station. www.seat61.com/Italy-trains.htm#Travel%20tips www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en/Purchase/Regional-online-ticket-and-passes
I've been here for a year now and still haven't used the train system. I've never been on a train before and no one will go with me on there. I'm most afraid of just getting on the wrong train or getting off at the wrong time.
What’s the worst that could happen? Would it really be so bad to go to a different place? It might be interesting. You could explore a bit, then go back!
Lin thanks for the info. We are planning to go this year. For the trains for short distance I will be traveling with 4 people. Is there anyway to reserve the seats for first class on the regional trips in Italy.
Hi Lin Thanks for the video, it was very helpful, If you book the ticket using italiarail, will there be a seat reserved on the train or should we find a empty seat when we get on to the train?
Regional trains have no seat assigned they're all 2nd class designation. High speed does and have 4 classes, go for the cheapest option its better than most airlines anyways.
Hi Lin! If you print your ticket at home ... how do you validate it? The machines look like they only stamp or read a 'ticket' sized ticket, know what I mean? thank you
For an international student from an English speaking country in Africa coming to university of Padua which is the recommended to arrive Padova, Italy. Via Venice or Verona or Milan or any other suggestions. Thanks in advance
Hi Lin would it be best to book all tickets online or can I buy these ticket at the ticket stand.I will traveling from Venice Santa Lucia to Selerno Italy in june.
Hi Lin, Thank you for posting this youtube video. It's really helpful and it's really new. I'm indecisive booking our train between Rome to Florence & Florence to Milan by using either "www.italiarail.com" OR "www.trenitalia.com". I saw some people's credit card got got compromised because they were using Trenitalia. I'm thinking about using Italiarail. How do you think about them? Did you guys have any issue with them?
I used trenitalia.com or .it. It was their official site no fees. Freccarossa from Rome to Florence. Buy as early as possible to get the best deals. Also if you're traveling rush hour it will be crowded. I sat with My luggage between train cars coz there wss no more room on milan to bologna for large suitcases.
Thank you for the info! So, the tickets to travel let's say Venice to Florence must be printed? They don't accept to show them on your phone screen or something? If you have to print them, where do you do that? Sorry for the many questions:)
Hi! Lin thanks for the video. I will be traveling in April to italy. My itinerary is Rome to florence and florence to Milan. I don't want to buy the train tickets online Can I buy them from the departing station? Also any idea which train tickets will be cheaper for my destinations?
Stazione di Venezia Santa Lucia Venezia Santa Lucia - Napoli Centrale 8903 towards Napoli Centrale Transfer to: Firenze Santa Maria Novella RV 4019 towards Livorno Centrale Arrive at: Pisa Centrale (Pisa, Province of Pisa, Italy)
