Solid video. One thing you didn't address though that has caught me several times: luggage carry on weight limits on international flights. Every international flight I've been on has had a carry-on weight limit of a combined 15kg. Just my DSLR and a few lenses are enough to be well past that limit. Then you tack on a drone, and maybe even a laptop, and you have utterly blown through the weight limit. I know they don't always check for weight, but I've had them check quite a few times, and it creates horrible difficulty every time. What do you do?
You are normally allowed a "personal item" with your carry-on. I put my drone and photography equipment in my backpack (right at allowed weight), and then carry a laptop bag with laptop and chargers as the "personal item"
I will be flying with TAP Air Portugal, their website states that drones must be in checked in luggage and I can't take my drone into cabin in a backpack. This is really weird and actually the opposite of most other airlines where they want you to carry your drone in the cabin with you. Have you flown with TAP Air Portugal before? I see a b-roll footage at 7:35 showing a TAP Air Portugal A319 Cabin.
I'll fly soon with fly emirates, according to their drone policy they only allow drones as checked in luggage. therefore, I will just put my drone in my check in luggage but the batteries in my carry on luggage I guess
@@mkcinematicwarm everything worked out fine and I haven’t had a single issue. I’ve had other flights in the meantime as well in which I put my drone in my carry on luggage, no problem either. I do advice to check the drone policy from your airline and to put the batteries in lipo bags when traveling.
Hello, I have a DJi Mini SE Combo, with 3 bat. . As you know , it cames with their own case. Is this good to travel with? I'm bying a anti fire bag, but i dont now if that enougth. Thanks
@@wrightvisual8294 Can you share those other videos? Hard to comment without knowing exactly what was said. Perhaps the specific airline or country has that requirement, but I've never seen rules based on the # of batteries.
@@wrightvisual8294 I have flown with as many as 6 (six) Phantom 4 batteries in my carry on luggage on Southwest and American airlines with no problems. TSA seemed to appreciate that they were in the fireproof bags.
Hi? I have a question. I will be travel again next year. The country that I will go legal for flying a drone but im transiting to the country that banned drone. Will my drone be okay or it will caused a problem. Thank you.
I'm going to the Philippines soon, and Drones are fine there bim worried about my connection flight in Tokyo Japan. I don't want them trying to steal my MINI 2 from me when I have my connecting flight through there? How can I prevent this?
Hi I’m planning to go to Dominican Republic and i bring a drone(Dji mini2)weighing less than 4.4 pounds andI stay at the resort(RiuPalace Punta Cana) I would like to ask, can I fly a drone and do I need a permit?Thank you for answer.
Thank you so much for this travel info. I am a new Recreational Drone Pilot and I do have some upcoming travel plans. Unfortunately, the countries I am traveling to are not on your list. I will be going to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in August 2022. I sent an email to the Caribbean Civil authority 2 weeks ago and have not heard back. I will also be traveling to French Polynesia in June of 2023. I did learn that Bora Bora has major restrictions and I may even need to take 107 to fly there. (I prrobably will in any case) Again, I emailed their Civil Aviation authority and have not heard back. I know I have time, but just want to plan in advance. One of my biggest concerns is getting my drone confiscated by customs. Any thoughts about that and in general about researching these countries is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Ooh, wish we could help more here, Marshall, but you seem to be doing everything you can. Good that you're reaching out ahead of time. Perhaps try calling if you're not getting an email response? Would be wild if Bora Bora required Part 107 exam, I wasn't aware of any reciprocity like that.
Im from the Philippines and were going to travel to the U.S.A next year, do I need to register the drone here in the Philippines before we go to U.S.A?
Hi Daniel, no you wouldn't need to do that. You'll want to register it with the FAA and go through their free online TRUST training. More info over here >> uavcoach.com/faa-recreational-drone-training/
In reguards to the maximum watt hours that need approval. My drone has 4, 46 wh batteries. each one is under the limit but collectively over the limt. Would I still need to get approval to bring all 4 batteries?
You'll want to double-check with the specific airline you are flying, or with TSA. They'll be a more direct source of updated information when it comes to traveling with LiPo batteries in checked luggage.
@@uavcoach yeah it wasn’t right. I went prepared to do whatever they told me to do as I checked in and they told me I had to have it on my carry on. The woman on the phone at United took 15 minutes to give me the wrong information. 🙄
