does anyone know how to make these slip proof with out ruining the beauty of the cookies? all i have seen searching is sand/paint mixture... idk if that changes the look? thx

If I have fresh cut wood slices but I'm not ready to do the pentracryl process can I store in a plastic ziplock bag until I can dry them properly?

Wrapping wood in plastic will keep the air off of it and prevent it from starting to dry. This is good for a few days, but after that, mold will start to grow. The best practice is to cut the wood when you are ready to treat it.

After treating with Pentacryl - can the wood cookies then be sanded and engraved?

Yes, once the wood is completely dry, it can be sanded, stained, glued, wood burned and/or sealed. Be sure to dry wood cookies slowly.

Pentacryl is a stabilizer for green wood that prevents the wood from cracking as it dries. It will not harden the wood or bark.

Nice and helpful but i could not find this product pentacryl in belgium ! Or amazon or bangood ! I really cant find it ! And if i do all this process how long take to dry ?

You can find Pentacryl from Dictum in Germany, Turners Retreat in the UK or Comercial Pazos in Spain. Drying time will depend on the original moisture content, the size and type (density) of the wood and the temperature and humidity where the wood is being drying. Kevin, if mold appears while the cookies are drying you can spray Lysol on the wood surface - this will kill the mold spores. You can also sand it off when the cookies are dry.

Pentacryl treated wood will look dry when it is wet, but will help to bring out the natural color of the wood once it is dry.

what is pentacryl made of? is it toxic?

Pentacryl is a solvent based formulation of polymer oils. It is not toxic, but as with any wood treatment, we recommend using gloves and splash proof goggles to avoid skin or eye irritation.
