I made a retinoid cream! If you're interested in using it for acne scarring, check it out here: shop.heystratum.com It's now my favorite retinoid product in the world and the one I use each night... but I'm biased here, so do your own research. I used the strongest over the counter retinoid available in the U.S. to get maximum effect, but added a BUNCH of moisturizing and soothing ingredients so that it's not irritating like most retinoids.
Hey Dr Usama There's a new doctor around the block in youtube called Dr abs He claims that dermarollers are much more effective compared to the expensive sessions at clinic sessions Does his claim have any validity?
My acne and scars were so bad that the dermatologist office took pictures and sent them to my insurance, who agreed to cover scar procedures. Acne, especially severe acne, is directly correlated with depression.
Lucky. Back in the UK my taxes were paying into the NHS but the NHS wouldnt cover my scarring. And private treatment cost loads for it due to all the taxes for the NHS
In my experience laser therapy and micro needling is THE BEST treatment in terms of acne and acne scaring. It completely turned my skin around when neither creams, antibiotics, tretonoids nor diet and what not helped.
I am interested in hearing more about this as well! What kind of laser treatment have you found to be most effective? Do you have to get it on a regular basis or just a few sessions to completely eliminate the problem?
Initially I did it every month (if not maybe every 2 weeks, I am not sure). This helped especially against the Acne. But the effect is very lasting, so currently every 3-4 months is sufficient for me. This is also due to "condition" having goten better. So now I do for the scarring. I found that the laser worked better than the needling. Although; the needling worked best at a higher intensity with a deeper piercing (deeper piercing will hurt more though). I can't tell you much about the laser. I only know what my doc cals them. There are some that help better against acne, some better against scarring. Laser-vampire-needling is not recommended by me though. All in all i wish my previous doc didnt keep his mout shut and told me about this. It was my best life decision yet. Truly life changing for me. Pls remember the experience may vary.
@@usamasyed u don't suggest prp as the major treatment whole face supplemented with co2 laser especially ok the very scarry part? Also I reckon you dint mention open pores due to acne scarring, and what about dermaroller to suppliment with your sessions in between at home?
I'm really impressed by this doctor, not just whatever his saying is facts. It's also his humor, how his explaining everything in details, litterly anything that pops in watcher's brain. also I appreciate his cheerful personality.
My son went on Accutane as a freshman in high school. It was fabulous after about 4 months he has never had one blemish and not one scar. I would recommend it to everyone
Ive done micro dermabrasion, chemical peels, microneedling, fully ablative laser resurfacing (that's under anesthesia, performed by a surgeon with 6 months heal time), subscision, and filler. I still have pretty severe scars. Nothing has worked for me. I do think the medical grade skincare I've been using has made a huge difference in texture. Ultimately, though, you just kind to have to learn to live with it. I've found that people really aren't that superficial in real life, unless they're young or generally shallow.
APPLAUSE, APPLAUSE, APPLAUSE TO YOU FOR BEING SO BRUTALLY HONEST ! I have suffered my whole entire life with box scars and indented rolling scars and w/ laser treatments that I have used didnt really help me. Now that I'm 68 yrs. old, I recently had microneedling and I've had 8 sessions which cost me a lot and yet, my scars have only improved about 50 %. I'm thinking of getting more sessions just to hopefully get me a smoother skin. You're right, INSURANCE IS CRAZY FOR NOT HAVING THESE TYPE OF CONDITION BEING COVERED ! I wish I can afford to get a fat transfer and fillers . I also began using some type of Retinol but I know I will have to continue w/ more microneedling. I'm not exctly sure about PRP. I admire your honesty and YOU ARE THE ONLY DOCTOR that I have seen in YOU TUBE that describes reality about acne scars. More power to you !
Thanks for acknowledging the importance of acne scar treatments not being insured. I've dealt with cystic acne and scarring for years and only now after lengthy isotretinoin / laser / alternative treatments I am sort of where I want to be. Not to mention that my skin was broken, bleedy and itchy as hell for the majority of that time.
I like how you feel to those who have severe scare 😢😢 like me who have severe scar acne and also from gentics. So sad 😥😥 and its my biggest insecuritt in life. Dont have confidence at all. Always avoid to do pictures. And always wearing facemask because it makes you comfortable when talking to someone specially on the work. And ASKING WHY YOU ALWAYS WEARING MASK?? COVID ARE GONE ALREADY. Its so hearbreaking.. I just want to hide always. I just LOVE how you speak for us who sufferring this kind of problem .. THANK YOU ❤
Literally i have tired every single flippin thing except for accutane but I can't do that because one of my parent is againts it eventhough I've had absolutely severe painful acne for 6+ years 😭💔 and the fact that I know for sure its from genetics just makes it pretty clear that I have to give accutane a go one day after watching this ☹ it all makes sense how all these creams and acid done in dermatology offices aren't working... I hope one day it will be clear skin somehow because they are just really against accutane 😭😭
For me I have dark spot acne scars all over my face, my skin is good for the most part with no bumps or texture, but the dark spots look like acne, they are light in the center and make it look bumped! It’s so annoying!!
Elissa here. I had 12 microneedling sessions with no results as well as pico laser ×3. Just had bellafill injections with subsicion. Hoping this plus Morpheus 8 will make a difference. I'm 40 and if it weren't for these acne scars I've had since I was 19, I'd have beautiful skin.
@@NatalieK944 Honestly I didn't see a huge difference until my injector showed me a side by side before and after pics she took and I could see that my face was more filled out and the scars filled in. I think I will need a couple more treatments. I would definitely try the filler/subcision. Don't bother with microneedling for deep scars unless you try RF microneedling like Morpheus. Traditional microneedling and pico didn't do anything at all unfortunately.
Hi Dr. Usama. Love your content! Can you please make a video for eye care? eye bags and eye circles? There is a lot of garbage about how to get rid of them and nothing scientifically-based. Hence, I am sure your viewers would appreciate one! Thanks!
Subcision with deep microneedling pen aleast 6 sessions lastly one good 2.8 depth C02 fractional laser however supplements or skin creams plus medicine are required for acne . I had scar , I took these procedure now my skin is glass baby skin.
Thank you for being honest. So far i have done stamping 4th treatment at home. I have seen little improvement but will continue. I use 3.0 stamper once a month. My box scars are very old and a very smalk area on my cheeks about 3/4 surface. I use vitam c and ordinary moisturizer with retinoid by Ordinary brand, and hyulornic acid as well. Will continue to do monthy treatments until i get desired smoothness.
I just saw one of your videos with Ali. I'd love to see a skincare routine from your channel as well. Explaining the 'to dos' and 'not to dos' with some recommendations for product, and the actual routine as well and in what order :)
For resistant scars , subcision and nano fat transfer can be the last hope and micro needling as a follow up after every 3 months till next 2 years , use of retinol 2.5% serum at bed time may also help
My hubby has the worst scars from his teenage acne. I pushed him to try dermastamping with the Banisher 2.0. Now his scars faded and his skin is glowing. Just once or 2x a month of dermastamping! 💯
is it true that scar treatment like micro needling and laser therapy only make sense after the acne calmed down? So that there are no new scars incoming even after spending all that money on the scar treatment because of new acne
@@usamasyed is this only because the treatment is expensive and otherwise it would have to be done twice because new scars appear? Or would it have consequences to undertake a microneedling or laser treatment while still getting outbreaks sometimes
I thought the marks on my face were scars, but they're don't fit any category you described. I don't know what it's called (hyperpigmentation?) They're dark spots left over from the acne I had (linked to pcos). I don't break out much anymore. Do you have a video on fixing hyperpigmentation? If not, can you do one (please) I found your channel by watching your wife's video. Love from Pakistan
Great content, thanks! Is "dermabrasion" no longer a thing? At one time this was the suggestion I heard for dealing with acne scarring. P.S. I find the background music distracting. I'd prefer to just hear you (and the sirens, of course).
Whatever you said is hundred percent truth , i want to say viewers you can hundred percent rely on this guy, .... I use to have cystic acne since age 16 , i visited the best dermatologist in my area , he gave me oral tablet tretinon which help controlling sebum production in my skin which literally cured my all acne then any other skin ointments i used ....i took that oral tablets for almost 9 months in continuous way , (but you can feel the result within 2 months) , there after my acnes completey stopped poping on my skin , my skin is now acne free , i didn't got acne after that , but today i have only left with few acne scars...which i want to treat asap.....😂😂❤❤
Sadly, here in the Philippines, dont have insurance for this kind of desease. I have sever acne and many deep acne scars in my face. (Also have very oily skin) Im very depressed and no confident to socialize specially dating or meeting a new girl. I'm 33 now and can't enjoy and live a full life. 😭
Hi Doc, Which Cerave product's you can suggest for little dry acne prone skin? Bdw, all your videos are just awesome and to the point! Love from India!
soooo good video and i dont even have acne scars, so microneedling pen and crazy strong chemical peels from. dermatologist and maby something for the hyperpigmentation
I had severe cystic acne and went to my dermatologist and I took isotretinoin for a year and I got A LOT of scars. So that makes no sense, that taking tablets presents scarring. I got scarring because I had severe acne and the isotretinoin sucked the acne from my face, it all went away and ice pick and boxcar scars stayed... Now I am putting 0,3% retinol on my face (still seeing my dermatologist every year), and nothing has happened, I don't know what to do 😭
Doctor! My older sister had the same oily, acne-prone skin as I do now, and her skin is now very clear. She had that skin in her puberty. Now I'm in my puberty. As an 18-year-old, should I cure my acne? Is it true that after puberty our skin gets a lot calmer? She never really got laser treatment or needling or any medical treatment.
Thanks, very informative, doc. I wonder if there is a plateau effect for severe acne scar where you can't achieve true smoothness or not. I've been using laser resurfacing 5 sessions 6 years before, still icepick and boxcar not go away.
Does acne needle and lasers work on very darkskin? Because I'm afraid that it won't distinguish the acne scar from my actually skin tone and maybe cause more damage.
The people who read this and have had or have post inflammatory erythema, please leave here the natural or chemical products that helped you eliminate those red spots!
Hi Doctor, when will winlevi be marketed outside usa? Also currently I use epiduo (adapalene + benzoyl peroxide) help in reducing inflamed acne, but it need dr prescription in my country, any alternative to these?
I have some scars and they do bring down my self esteem down. Is it better to get micro needling don't by a professional or should I buy a micro needling pen and do it myself?
is hyaluronic mesotherapy permanent for scars or not? my dermatologist suggested doing that, but if i have the results only for one year, what is the point? its expensive
My life was ruined by my dermatologist. As a young lad when I was 16 (decades ago) I began getting cystic acne across both sides face. Dr. was humming and hawing about strong pills like Accutane. I asked how long scars last, and to be nice he lied and said "oh, only about 6 months". So I said to my mom, no worries about medication I can tough out 6 months anytime I get it. Of course the Dr. was lying and I got more, and waited, of course, and of course got more scars all over face from beside eye brown down across cheeks on both side included pitted. Long story short, it gets better, you get comfortable in your skin. But, it taught me how superficial women are, I would say that close to 99% of women I ever asked out rejected me just based on scars. What is sad, is that I was at a social event in my 20s (Anomoly, I avoided most), and there was someone there who was a model and there agent was with them. The agent said to "too bad about all your scars, you could have been a model". Crushed me. lol It does get better.
I think it’s important to be very proactive about acne in teenage years and escalate treatment quickly to try to avoid scarring happening. They have huge impacts on people’s quality of life and think they’re taken too lightly by a lot of providers. I’m sorry you had a bad experience.
Hey can you make a video on melasma, i know it's not treatable or can be treated, but would mean alot even if it lightens, my mother has it and she's so disturbed by it please help
I have tiny bump and pimple on off my face. Can doctors suggestions for me couse I'm confused which one use salicylic acid or retinol or mandelic acid 😢
I rather have liver problems than acnes and scars on my face… Yes it is that bad to people especially to teenagers and woman… I wish I knew Accutane in my teenage years.. so that i wont have that much and deep acne scars had I have my acne controlled… Cost me much much much more to fix acne scarring problems with micro needling and Fractional lasers compared to the cost of seeing dematologists and the cost of accutane.
@@usamasyed I used only 2 days doctor.. I will have very less acne like 3 to 4 active acne but on and off. So my dermatologist recommended acne star to treat active acne, acne oc moisturizer and aha glow face wash. Can I have your opinion please, I'm from India and my skin is oily and sensitive. Thank you for your reply.
