thank youuuu 💗 this information is gold! you helped me to feel hopeful about my skin. ✨time stamps ✨ retinols 6:30 exfoliating 7:45 pigment inhibitors 9:11 moisturizers 11:22 treating root cause: body acne, eczema etc. 13:14
It’s crazy that this was just what I needed and here you are with a thorough routine. For me, it’s always the inconsistency and admittedly so, also the lack of knowledge on what to use and how to use it. I can’t wait to try your routine. Thank you so much.
@@anaissimmons3595 I’ve been using the versed press restart gentle retinol serum, ordinary’s glycolic acid, and I used another Kojic fade cream called carotone. I have been sticking to the routine since mid-January and yes my marks have gotten lighter. I don’t really spot treat, I just dab and put it all over my legs. I lost track of time and started to think that it wasn’t working but I had to really look and yes it works. It has lightened old mosquito marks and my knees however it’s not as powerful for I guess “rougher deeper patches” of hyperpigmentation like my knee bone where I would kneel. It’s a great starter but you must be diligent with it. Keep a skincare routine calendar if you have to. Because I can understand how my hyperpigmentation works now, I’m investing in tretinoin to treat stubborn areas and will use this routine instead just on my face. This video has definitely helped me invest into better layering skincare for the body. Hope this helps.
I really want to thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for this video. I suffer from dermatillomania or compulsive skin picking disorder and the main areas I have damaged are my upper arms and my chest. I can’t wear many of the things I would like to because I feel like my scars make me so ugly. However, I decided enough was enough and got to the root of this condition which has plagued me for 10+ years. I figured out what my triggers are and what causes me to pick at my skin, I also have taken the step of seeking help from mental health professionals. Although it’s still a tough journey, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel that gets brighter and brighter every day! This routine has begun to smooth out my damaged skin and my spots have gone from black to now a medium brown! I do hope one day to be able to find a sympathetic dermatologist who won’t make me feel disgusting or weird because of my condition, but until then I’m glad I now have this routine! 🧡
Yes!! I have been dealing with severe hyperpigmentation on my legs. I'm getting ready to go into my freshman year of college next month and I have clusters of dark spots from childhood. The skin on my legs heal horribly and the trauma I get on them turns into a black spot that barely lightens into a dark spot until it stays for years and years on end. I feel better knowing that my skin isn't a lost cause after all. Thank you for this video!
omg - same. I've had this all my life, so glad that I'm now an adult and can afford to get proper treatment. I'm 27 and about to really invest to boost my self-esteem.
@@BZlive1 Same here! Now that I can afford these things and products, I’m also on the healing path for my skin and self-esteem. I went ahead and purchased myself some shorts, skirts, and a dress or two because it’s been years since I’ve worn any of that. I wish you the best of luck with your skin care journey!
@@hotsauce2422 Hello! I can honestly say that after being consistent for about a month in a half, I’ve noticed some small yet good improvements! I fell off of my routine due to some personal roadblocks but I’m back on it now. Some small hyperpigmentation spots on the back of my thighs seemed to have lightened a bit but the darker spots on the front of my legs did not seem to change. Overall, I’m going to try and stay as consistent as possible to see the results that I want to see! I hope that this helped!
Dr Alexis you are amazing!! Dermatologists like you don't exist in the UK but so glad you create content. I really like the way you have created a simple routine to follow. Believe it not but I've been looking for a video like this for 10years!
While, I do suffer from hyperpigmentation, it is completely even on all around my body, I've gotten much darker throughout the years. I was born light skin like my father, and although I'm not brown like my mum. I'm darker, in skin tone, and suffer from dry skin, and very chapped lips. Thank you, for the video. 🙏🏽
Sun: pigment inhabiters Mon: pigment Tues: Exfoliate Wed:Retinol Thurs:pigment Fri: Exfoliate Sat: Retinol Please correct me if I was mistaken, I’m lost 😵💫😵💫
This is such a great video, thank you so much. I've been struggling with body hyperpigmentation for a long time, most especially on my forearms and lower legs, and it's fairly recently that I really started trying to figure out how to deal with it once and for all. Too many videos are about spot treatment on the face, recommending ingredients that must be used only as spot treatment exactly on the hyperpigmented areas. But I have many, many spots on large parts of my body so I need something that I can just apply all over instead of spending half an hour trying to specifically spot-treat each spot. It's not that I regret having my hyperactive scratchy bitey rescue cat Panda around, no it's certainly not that.
Hello Dr. Stevens, you did delivered! I'm just sad faded isn't available in France. Could you please do a video on keloids and hypertrophic scars please, or, other subject, on keratosis pilaris. I actually have my hyperpigmentation patches where my keratosis pilaris is and as you said there is no point in treating my hyperpigmentation if my keratosis pilaris isn't treated. Thanks a lot for your amazing work
I just got my Kojic Acid Soap yesterday and I just found out that it takes at least 6-12 Months to get rid of it completely so I'm ready to start becoming more consistent
You are right on time!!!!! I was hoping you or Dr. V would do a video on body hyper-pigmentation. I have eczema and after my flare ups my hyper pigmentation is very ugly. Have been dealing with this all my life.
Thank you soo much for your expertise. You are a true treasure for us brown skin people. Guess I’m purchasing a few things! Thanks for posting 🥰 Suggestions for scar on forehead?
Try merderma I'm 53 and I had old scars from childhood chicken pox. Merderma lessen the dept of the scars and made them less visible. I also use urban rx cleansing bar and exfoliating pads. I use roc retinol too...
Thanks, Dr. Stephens, for making this video. I remember you asked us if we wanted you to make a video about this exact topic and you delivered. Thank you for all that you do.
Hi Dr. Stephen! You’ve mentioned that you’ve suffered eczema, would you please do a video on the make up brands that you use? I can’t seem to find a foundation, eye concealer nor a pressed powder that doesn’t trigger my eczema. I would really appreciate a video on this topic. Thank you Doctor.
I have older deeper hyperpigmentation as the result of scars on my neck and between my breasts. I’d like to see a video treating those types of hyperpigmentation in office with lasers or peels.
Great job explaining everything!!! Truly love your work and am beyond glad I’m subscribed, it’s so fascinating learning about our bodies and the different things they need we don’t always pay attention too.
PTL Dr. Stephen…I am 72, just now trying to care for my skin. I am dealing with facial hyperpigmentation because of diuretic medication. Could you address women over seventy, thank you for sharing 💯🌹.
This a great video! Thank you so much!! I have been looking everywhere for info on hyperpigmentation treatments on dark skin but it's quite difficult to find :( You're probably not going to see this comment since this video has over a week but it would be amazing if you could do a video talking more about hyperpigmentation on intimate areas, I know you've mentioned here but a more in dept video would be super useful! I and (I assume) many other dark skinned women suffer from PIH on the pubic area due to shaving and ingrown hairs and I can't find any useful video or article on this issue, specifically for our skin tone which this tends to happen more times and I'm not sure what if this can be treated with OTC products or with a dermatologist.
Dr.Alexis I love, love, love your content!!!! You give excellent product recommendations and explanation as to why and you take the guess work out of how to use them!!!!! It’s been a blessing and inspiration to see you and other dermatologist of color addressing skincare with our unique issues!!!! Thank you so much dear!!!
My knees and elbows always need help from roughness and hyperpigmentation. It is lifelong and has barely faded since childhood. I added primrose and omega oils to my CeraVe skin cream.
I use Cera vé Resurfacing Retinol Serum on my elbows and knees. I use Cótz Sunscreen SPF 50 on my elbows and knees. Elbows and knees need exfoliating, too. Good Luck can't wait to see what the Doctor says.
I’ve really been enjoying the results from using Cyspera on my face. I sometimes use kojic acid soap after washing it off. This combination helps to maintain my even skin tone. Kojic acid soap has helped with body hyperpigmentation too. I also love the Paula’s Choice body smoothing serum. Would love to see a video on Morpheus8 and how it would affect deeper skin tones. Thanks!
@@oromtitiwbo5078 please don't used soap on your face. The amount of acid in the soap is equivalent too battery acid. Dr. Alex Stephen talk about this on one of her video. Go with Azelaic acid, tranexamic acid. Please watch her other video about dark spot. Dr. Alex Stephen goes on detailes about this matter
Thank you for making this video. I have eczema and I am always looking for video on how to get rid of body hyperpigmentation. We need more of these videos please!
Omg thank you 😢. I went to the beach May 2022, re applied sunscreen and all…. We stayed in the sun… and my profile pic is how my skin looked… now.. I’m like 3 shades darker and it won’t go away 😭😭. I touch my skin and it’s red followed with seeing my true skin color underneath. So, makes me feel it isn’t dermal. My skin is still hot to touch from MAY!! Gonna buy these products and try. Thank you so much!!! 😭😭😭😭
I love you channel. I'm so glad you always say to use sunscreen I have a e esthetician friend who says never to use sunscreen because it Cooks it into your skin. I'm not going to stop using sunscreen
Dr. Stephens you’re truly God sent for folks like me who have suffered from hyperpigmented scars all my life. I scar easily. I had chicken pox as a child and also suffered from mosquito bites that ended up scaring. This has really affected my self esteem. I will try these but really think I would need help from someone like you. How do I get an appointment with you?
I have been using the Topical for a couple of months now and I see a definite change 😁. Im very happy but it definitely takes time and patience and some spots are stubborn but I won't give up. I will incorporate what you have talked about in this video, I do use rose hip oil after I put on my face moisturizer and retinol also but on a different night. Thank You Doctor.😁♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🙏🏾
I absolutely loved loved loved this video it kind of made me want to cry because although I do not know what it’s like having experience with hyperpigmentation but my boyfriend has hyperpigmentation and it’s honestly one of the most things he very insecure about I’ve been trying to help the best way I can with just moisturizing the skin or using just a regular sugar scrub but this video was soooo informational!!! I can’t wait to try the routine n get the things needed because I feel like I’m so much more now. You also talk very well paced n I don’t feel like I’m being thrown a thousand things at once! First video and definitely subscribed!
Happy Holiday’s to you Dr Stephens! You always bring the best to us. I hope all is well with your Mom. Thanks for another amazing video from an amazing Doctor 💗
Love this video 🤍 ✨Can you talk to us about how to treat Keratosis Pillaris ? ✨Also, I would like to know about the type of laser we can use for hyperpigmentation . Thank you ☺️
Get gold bond rough and bumpy cream from target and first aid K.P bump eraser from Sephora. Those 2 products have helped my keratosis Pilaris tremendously.
Thank you for this!💗 I had eczema when I was younger that left some dark spots that anger me also out of nowhere I started getting spots on the back of my thighs. I have no clue why but I’ve been thinking of doing a tca peel on my body. But in the meantime this is the beginning.
Thank you.Great information.I am in my 50s and have not shown my back in public since teenage years due to dark spots etc. Could you do a video on keloid scars please?
I'm in my 30s but I still have multiple hyperpigmentation spots from having chickenpox when I was a kid. Is it worth using these products to treat them, or are the hyperpigmentation spots too old to treat now?
Same. Glycolic acid body lotion works but it going to take a couple of months to see a change. The inhibiting melanin lotion I'm still searching. I'm a try faded
Probably. I have dark marks from when I was 12 years old on my face and nothing prescribed has erased them fully. You’ll need to try a VI Peel for your body
Great, great video!! A Dermatologist told me if you have hyperpigmentation due to genetics- a mask with a line then you will not be able to correct the discoloration. I wish I could get this derm thoughts on that.
Great video! I wonder could I use the body bar everyday. Along with the others on their scheduled days??? I have a list together. And I’m curious before I purchase.
Thank you so much for this video! I have hyperpigmentation in multiple areas on my body, but especially dark in my underarm area which has been there for most of my childhood (I am 20 now). I've tried using multiple products which either didn't work or barely worked. I am currently in the middle of using a fairly new hyperpigmentation treatment routine (aha body soap & glycolic acid toner) so I want to give it at least a couple months before I try this one. In the meantime I'll be looking for good alternatives to some of the products mentioned because they are currently outside of my budget 😭
Hi Dr. Alexis!! Thank you for your channel. I’m relatively new to this skincare world, and your channel has changed the game for me. In reference to body care, I’ve always used regular soap like Dove. Are bar soaps not the best for the body?
I need help with my teenage sons acne. It’s not too bad but I want to stop it before it gets bad. He uses Paula Choices BHa 2%. A video for him to watch would be great since teenagers think patents don’t know anything. Love your videos 💚💫❤️💫💚
I'm white and I have dark marks, even on areas that haven't had injury. She's right, it happens to all of us. It would indeed be nice to be one shade. Honestly though, don't obsess about it! You're beautiful the way God created you, and your scars are beautiful too for the people in your life that matter.
@@Moi_81 I have some huge scars too, especially on my ankle. Gnarly break from back in 1994 and 3 surgeries since. My ankle is about 30% bigger than the other and has 7 scars over 4 inches long. Some were stretched pretty wide due to swelling also so they look nasty. Makes for interesting conversation when I wear sandles. I just say, "should see the other guy."
Thank you for this amazing content. I have scars from mosquito bites that I need to get rid of but not sure if I should be using the recommended products along with the Avene cream or just use the Avene as a stand alone. Thank you.
This is so helpful. I have hyperpigmentation from severe psoriasis on my arms and thanks to new treatments my psoriasis is finally under control but I still have all the spots. I’ve been seeing a little bit of improvement but I’m going to try some of these products to see if it helps speed things up.
Hormonal imbalances pcos like you said pregnancy pre or menopause highly production of melatonin contributed to have hyperpigmentation also if early stages of Diabetes. Thank you for the tips .
Hi Dr Stephens! Great video as Always. Is it safe to use a chemical exfoliating body wash as well? If so, how often can we use if we add it to the routine you suggested?🙂
Dr Alexis i want to thank you for your time and the multitude of information that you share. For brown n black communities everywhere you are God sent. .Is it possible that you review SKII Pitera essence? Thanks in advance
Love this video! Could you please do a video or include in a future video, how to treat pigmentation because of skin picking? I have keratosis pilaris on my upper arms and scars(spots) on my stomach due to skin picking/ingrown hairs and nothing really helps that well…
