I wanted to comment about this video. My adult son has had body odor for many years and we have tried everything over the counter and oral medication, nothing worked until now. People need to understand that having body odor doesn't mean your dirty or you don't wash clean, but it can also mean if your stressed, having anxiety or depression sometimes hormones. Don't make fun of people who stink just because you think you aren't.

Very informative. I’ll definitely be sharing this. Thank you. But showering should be key, some people don’t like to shower/bath. Some people also smell because of how they store their clothes by placing them in damp areas, so the clothes have a choking smell. So washing one’s clothes regularly and storing in airy and not too damp areas work too.

I had literally tried soooooo many antidepressants, speciality deodorants, home remedies, you name it. I finally went online to try to figure out what to do. Based on that research, I started taking chlorophyll (I personally use Nature's Way liquid or tablets). I have now been using chlorophyll for nearly 3 years and it works!! I'm now able to take the chlorophyll every other day and I have no odor problems. I do still sweat, but no oder... seriously!! Hopefully, this might work for someone else.

One thing that works really well, for me, for several days, is exfoliating! (Once a week on my armpits.) The deodorant works better during that time, on me.

I started cleaning my armpits with lime slices, then body scrubs and apply a little baking soda after drying off. Works wonders for me.

So, from my experience, if applied correctly, Secret can actually power through 72h. If the weather isn't too humid or too hot, it'll hold, otherwise it'll just slide off. The problem i have with it, is that it does cause some irritation and armpits skin looks darker. Because of that I prefer Mitchum, it'll hold for solid 24h. Just apply overnight on dry clean skin. No need to reapply in the morning.

I switched to the deodorant that makes the skin inhospitable to bacteria and stuck with it for this reason: it doesn't stain my clothes. I hate pit stains and a lot of anti-perspirants and deodorants just lead to weird stains on my clothes. While it's hard to tell, I do think that I sweat less now that I am no longer using a sweat-occlusion product and just letting my pits do what they will. Now, I will acknowledge that the staying power of the glycolic acid is not quite the same as an actual anti-perspirant so there are some life situations where I will use the Vanicream (thanks for the rec!!!) but for my normal every day life, my Neccessaire or my Crystal deodorant work great, I like the smell of them, they seem to work for my lifestyle (your mileage may vary if you are not working in a temp-controlled office!!!), and they don't stain my clothes! Works for me! I'm glad to have non-aluminum options, personally!

OTC: Dial soap in the pits followed by Certain Dry Antiperspirant. Follow the instructions carefully.

I do sweat easy and a lot when I do. Since I was a little girl I use to have really strong odor underarms, and don’t get me started in my teenage years. Here in Pakistan many use Glycolic Acid from Ordinary and FA antiperspirant roll on together they work wonders!

I use to really love fragrant anti perspirants . A little too much though, I’m now allergic to them 😢 I buy the fragrant free ones now.

I got into the hippie salt sticks a year or so ago, they are the bomb! They work so well, I sweat like normal but with zero smell. They are cheap, last forever, no weird ingredients, no skin irritation as long as I skip a day every other week or so.

3rd reason for not using aluminium based product is that they will stain the shit out of your light clothes.

Taking fenugreek made sweet sweat, smelled like syrup. For a maybe not so healthy option Mitchum works awesome-for days, yes days, best for those rustic camping trips.

For odor in the armpits, it is best to trim the hair with a trimmer or remove it with wax, and then use any cream that contains an antibiotic, such as fusidic acid cream. After that, you can use deodorant or antiperspirant. Another piece of advice is to avoid eating a lot of garlic, onions, and some vegetables that may be eliminated from the body through sweating.

Baking soda work well for me even the deodorant. What keeps the smell away and remove it. Is leafy vegetables eating greens daily. Prevent body odor thank god

Rubbing alcohol, just 72% isopropyl alcohol works great. Put some on a washcloth and wipe down your armpits and other areas that tend to be damp from sweat all the time. Kills the bacteria that causes the issue, works for a couple days usually. Old trick I learned from camping and such.

Would the PanOxyl Acne Treatment Bar of soap work as well or is the liquid cleanser recommended?

My dad never used deodorant and never had body odor; however, my adult son recently started having body odor regardless of using deodorant. I bought him a new brand of deodorant and now the body odor is gone again.

I used Witch Hazel a few times. But when my boyfriend was using Axe I was staying under his arm pits because I loved the smell and I told him he can't wear it out. lol!. I notice since I got older that if I eat like a broccoli my body smells like it since I went menopausal. I may try to stop the anti-perspirant again since it cold temp because the other time I did it during the spring I was surprised that my armpits pores turned black, and it took a while to correct and by summer I gave up. It’s been more than a week that I’m dealing with Axe antiperspirant reaction. My armpits are red, itchy and broke out in hives. I’ve been using Axe antiperspirants for many years without an issue. I learned that Axe changed their formula and fragrances in the antiperspirants. I now how to find a new brand that works as advertised, but doesn’t have a strong deodorant odor and doesn’t feel gross or stains clothes too much. I’m so upset that Axe changed their formula.

What about Certain DRI? You are supposed to use it at bed time. Works like a charm for me, I apply 2-3 times a week. If I don’t let it dry after applying, it can be itchy though.

I shower daily and use Secret Clinical "72 hour protection" I will still smell in my armpits within a few hours if I wear a top made of any synthetic material. Going sleeveless brings up the same issue. It's frustrating.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on Nuud deodorant. I've been using it over a year now and absolutely love it, seriously no need to reapply more than a couple of times a week if you don't want to. Its main odor fighting ingredient is micronized silver particles in the cream.

Thank you so much Doctors for this video, I have this problem , sometimes I have BO right after a shower, usually my left armpit is the worst, I do use a deodorant but it fades/result in a mix of BO+deodorant(terrible🤢) smell later in the evenings during my workouts. I literally strarted applying bicarbonate of soda to kill the bacteria , & it works but it irritates my underarms overtime/ gives me an allergic reaction(some kinda irritation). So I am gonna dry the aha cleanser/ peroxide, hope it works🤞, thank you🤗.

So what do you suggest for teens? What can you do naturally for eliminating odors? Would using hydrogen peroxide diluted with water be the same as the cleanser you mentioned with that ingredient? I personally don’t care for using things that are not natural and harmful for the body and results into harming my lymph nodes.

I sweat BAD but I don't have body odor like others. I used to use Dial antibacterial gel to clean. It's cheaper and works great. I don't wear deodorant but I carry it with me in case. I have been super lucky in the BO regard but I have severe psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis as a trade off, I guess.

I use Hibiclens and Drysol. Total game changer! I just hate the itchy armpits from the Drysol. 😂

I moved away from antiperspirants because my skin felt bad, I still smelt bad, and the antiperspirant would get on my clothes and then they would smell. I have tried many different deodorants, and it did take some time for my skin to get rid of the aluminium buildup. Now my skin is much healthier and my current deodorant (nuud) is silver-based and should only be applied at most every 2 days

That Axe story was a riot.

I have a strange issue, one armpit stinks and the other never does. I’ve tried every deodorant and none seem to cure the issue for very long. A couple of weeks ago I began using PanOxyl Acne Foaming Wash, after my daughter (aesthetician) suggested this product. While it hasn’t cleared all of the odor, it has reduced it by about 70%. Been using a mist of rose water, orange blossom water, tea tree oil and glycerin on my body. Works great. Made it for moisturizing properties and whatever else but noticed I could do without body spray

Use odorcide with your laundry detergent in laundry let soak for 30 min before letting the cycle complete. Use downy rinse and refresh on as well it has citric acid washes away residue.

I tested the 24/48 hour claims and I can say that it will work up to 48 hours. After that, take a shower. Your armpits may not smell after 48 hours, but you will feel icky, and other stuff may stink.

This reminds me of a viral tweet that said “i be scraping the deodorant off my girl’s armpit with my teeth like filling out of an oreo !” I think he’s refereing to the residual aluminum sitting on top of the armpit skin doing the antiperspiring 🤍

I suffer BO on the armpit, I clean 🧼 then a lot with antibacterial regular soap and after my regular body soap and still not enough, it’s awful in clothes, to remove the smell it’s hard only with vinegar after washing for a couple minutes. I got sensitive skin so I got to be careful with the products. I wanna try isdin line soap and deodorant.

Quick question: what products do you suggests for non armpit areas other than the soaps. I tried an antiperspirant and although it worked it was too irritating on my Crotch.
