Delusional parasitosis or Ekbom’s syndrome is a patient’s mistaken belief that he is infested by parasites such as mites, lice, fleas, spiders, worms, bacteria, or other organisms. Scott Schachter, OD, discusses the challenges ODs face when working with these patients.

With respect, the western world generally dismisses parasites due to our culture and health standards, but anyone who has grown up in a third world nation knows parasites are very real, and many take anti-parasite medications every year. Most MD’s, PA’s, and NP’s are simply trained not to consider parasites as being a realistic possibility, and this is a flaw in the educational system. If you’ve travelled to -or lived in- a third world nation, and have strange symptoms I possibly indicative of parasitism, you’re not paranoid to suggest this as a possibility to MD’s or PA’s, most of which have never been in 3rd word nations. At the very least, it can rule out parasites, but for a provider to consider a person delusional for suggesting a possible cause of medical problems is cruel and should be a form of malpractice.

No, it can still happen in poor or in areas where there is drug abuse through needles and if you chose the wrong life partner or you are older and crowed into homeless shelters or are in poorly ran nursing homes!

They label women as trash and they show a belief in people not being worth their trouble and it is spread here mainly through drug abuse and partners with drug addicts

Is it normal to have a temporary version of this after having and getting rid of bedbugs? Almost a month ago, I woke up in the morning and saw actual bedbugs crawling on my bed and even had one on me... i already have an anxiety disorder and this sent me through the roof. Exterminator checked and found them and fumigated. Now they were killed and i don't see any, however I've been experiencing this phantom crawling intching. I know that it's not real - when I'm out of my house, I wouldn't feel it at all. it would literally start the moment I walked through my front door so I understand that the sensation has to be psychosomatic. That being said, it's happebing less and less, but it's still happening. Usually when I wake up in the morning I feel it but I jump up and look around and there's nothing, so I'm pretty sure I'm dealing with this, so can this be a temporary thing and how do I deal with it I've never dealt with anything like this before but then again I've never had bed bugs. Initially finding them though really put me into a state of panic and shock for a little bit. I'm guessing that's what's causing this condition at the moment. Is there any way to speed this up?

My parasitosis was brought on by a very real bed bug epidemic. Sometimes I still feel them. As long as I take meds I'm mostly well.

I have read your comments. I understand what you’re going through 100%. A very close family member of mine suffers from this too. She has relapsed a few times. Intelligence only makes the person smarter when trying to get people to believe her. Creams, gloves, bleach baths, head lice treatments, scabies treatments, talcum powder, massive weight loss, fly spray, sleepless nights, collecting small bits of fibre or lint ect ect ect. I hope you are ok? It’s very difficult dealing and accepting a ration person can act this way who is only irrational in this one way. I feel you.

Personally, I think that the affliction can be brought on by a variety of triggers, rather spiritual, or biological/medical. Although it all often goes hand in hand. I took care of a neighbor/friend that had a bad case of it for a few weeks! Hers was rooted in being a victim of Overlooking/The Evil Eye. About a week in to the onset of the condition, a Cunning Man diagnosed, and then broke/removed the EE and cleansed her, and her home. There was a visible and tangible relief as soon as he did the removal. And then about 2 weeks later, her condition just faded away, as suddenly as it had came on. It was one of the scariest things, as far as mental conditions, that Ive seen anyone go through! I took care if her, as close to round the clock as I could, throughout the entire period, and it was rough! She had originally said that she had Scabies. And even got a doctor to diagnose her with Scabies, and to prescribe a cream. But when she said that she could see the "bugs," I knew that she had something other than Scabies! She's have been better off had that been an accurate diagnosis!

Have you even got this checked out? Physician will betray the person to begin with , they arent these heros you think they are! They dont want to deal with this kind of thing! Also doctors WILL lie, they WILL throw tests because, to a certain point , it gets really bad and NO ONE imagines it and I would get the FOIA or whatever it is to make sure of this or even test the skin out yourself, there are ways! You could really be hurting her! These physicians don't even want to deal with this problem, THEY LIE! Physicians in the ER get mean and throw people out, too! When the immune system is weak the skin does stop protecting the body from elements more and this CAN happen to the elderly. Look up nursing home cases! 3:14 3:14 3:14
