I think most first time peach tree growers (like me) are always caught off guard by peach leaf curl, but it's too late by then for that first or second year. My small tree looks like it's almost dead with only a few leaves left. I'm trying to keep it alive so that I can treat it in the fall and hopefully next year it will be nice and healthy. However, the damage is done, some branches look dead and it's lost a years worth of growth.
I have a peach tree in it's fourth year and it's gorgeous, except I just found the leaf curl ....exactly what you showed! I'm bummed but we'll use your tips and hopefully get it back on track! Thanks
@@SpectrumSurvivalist try 50/50 raw milk and water. No homogenized crap, the real fresh stuff right from the cow without any processing. You can do this in the spring and summer too. It'll kill that fungus dead. Works IMMEDIATELY
I would ask a question, I used liguad organic fish emulsion for the first time ever in my garden this year within 5 minutes I had a allergic reaction to it, I got this burning tingling sensation with a runny nose and than my lip and the whole left side of my face swelled up, and I was hospitalized for 2 day with many injections of steroids, I would still like to use the fish emulsion because I know it's fantastic for the gardens is there a safe way that I can continue to use this organic product without getting an allergic reaction to it, or will I have to hire someone to come spray my garden 2 times a year?
She recommended "Liquid cop". I did some research and you can mix up something called "Bordeaux Mixture" at home that works apparently. That is what I will try in the fall. My poor peach tree is barely alive. It was newly planted last year so it was scraggly to begin with and now it only has a few leaves to keep it alive.
Oh dear, I didn't realize what was wrong with my tree. If I send you a picture of my tree will you please tell me if it can be saved. I have no good excuse other than ignorance and would love to improve the health & proper pruning of all of my trees. Thank you!!!
I was told this year by an old farmer in the part of France I live in that they hang a muslin bag of egg shells in the tree I know it sounds crazy I’m going to try it this spring I have two peach trees that are infected ,don’t blame me if it’s nonsense
I live in Michigan ,just recently brought a home with some fruit trees one of them is a peach tree with peach leaf curl ,these trees have not been taken care of for about 5 years ,would Appreciate help with this matter Thank you
I’ve got a small ornamental peach tree in my flower bed. It doesn’t make fruit or hasn’t since I’ve had it. So. I need to let it go, feed miracle grow and take good care of it until fall? I read use copper based fungicide, but I don’t want anything dangerous in my beds. I have a small veg garden close by.
@@mchlbk I believe the strategy is to keep the tree alive until fall when you can then treat the fungus so that NEXT YEAR, it can grow without hinderance from this fungus. ie; keep the patient alive!
Is spraying so much fungicide still qualify as organic? I have heard that someone built a canopy above the tree during early spring and prevented the spreading of peach leaf curf, maybe as a result of controlled rain exposure.
Do you have to spray apple and pear trees too? I didn’t know about this until it was too late. The buds have just started on my apple and the pear is growing too 😔
Unfortunately the Liquid Copper I have used did not work. I've used it for a few years now on my single peach tree. I follow the directions and apply repeated treatments in winter and before budding. I am at my wits-end and am about to just cut the tree down and start over.
GrowOrganic Peaceful Valley Haha, thanks! I put some straw underneath the tree to catch the fallen leaves which will then be raked up and used as fire starter for the bonfire
I don't let mine drop, I check my tree every week, get on a ladder with a plastic bag and pull off the leafs with it present, and take them away from the tree and throw them out in the field near by.
loool i was thinking same thing but the brown rot is unstoppable. i think she meant more of the insecticide versus the latter ....do you have a solution? link?
please read my comments before you chop it down buy some copper spray ( seed and feed stores ) mix with water two big spoons per gal water or 1 spoon per 1/2 gal water spray after thanks giving wait about 2 weeks spray again this is a fungus that winters over in the bark thats why you have to spray in winter time ----with leaves on trees you can not get to the bark try to spray during dry spells so rain wnt wash it off its best to spray the soil around the trees anf remove any limbs that s pruned off dont spray after blooms start to open you only get this 1 shot in the winter to kill it but its worth it next year see nice green leaves all summer
@@rotgut14 i was told about this trick many years ago and I did it, somehow it worked. But now I cannot use it because I don't have fresh cow milk, everything is processed. I have had 3 small peach trees from seeds and have to say goodbye to them. The product is too expensive for these seedlings.
