How To Treat Snake Mites During The Breeding Season 

On the subject of predatory mites, I'm out of the game for a while now but I had 40 snakes, fully infested because of a lack of quarantine practices (100% on me) and a pair of royals rescued from a clueless seller, the snakes were in a tub with no water dish, together, so I should have known better really. Personally I had great success and never saw another mite again after using preds so I don't understand your recommendation to not use them. The idea is that once the predators consume the snake mites, they have no food source and die off naturally. Usage case was a rack with paper bedding. For me it is another tool in the box. That being said, on a smaller scale, would lean towards having a bottle of frontline handy. What would be interesting (mad scientist hat on here) is to test both methods on a rack system, as I'm curious if the predators would travel between tubs and what the results would be like in terms of timescales. The instructions for the predator mites are to introduce some to each environment. The brand I used was specifically the Taurrus ones, sent via amazon. Believe they chill them down and this puts them in an idle state before they get to you, the heat wakes them up and they do their thing then.

Frontline is the only thing that worked for us when we had a mite outbreak. We treated every snake

really good stuff have used it on my retic collection. I've tried predator mites and olive oil and have always gone back to frontline.

I'm with you on this gav you gave me the advice of this year's ago and it worked wonders. Only thing I do also is spray inside the bin and around the opening and everytime I added a paper towel I sprayed again. Great advice again gavin and look forward to any future knowledge you share

I’ve had my first snake for a month, and noticed mites for definite on her yesterday. The store I got her from have given me the predatory mites, but I’ve not really seen any keepers recommend this.

I seen they use to have a different looking bottle. The bottle you show seems to be the new current one I see in stores. Is there any difference between the old bottle and this newer bottle? Same formula different label?

Agree I’ve used it for 10 years now on my pythons. I spray straight on animals both carpet pythons and bluetongues. Two sprays all gone. I haven’t had mites for at least three years or more

Fipronil is the active chemical i used it and it worked great . I did one spray one on small snake and two on bigger 1500-2000 and three sprays on 2000+ . Spay it on while hanging snake in your hand by the top part of there body and whipe off away from the head . The carrier chemical is alcohols so wait till it evaporates and stop smelling then put the snake back in the tub . Just how i did it on nonbreeding snakes. Did clean the tub and rack and sprayed and cleaned with the older chemical everyone used to use i forgot the name . I got a different cheaper brand same fipronil % in it . It is trans dermal so it get s and stays in there blood stream for a few weeks . So it also goes through your skin and i to you when you get it on you .

Will this work for small snakes/babies? Recently bought a hatchling from an expo and recently noticed she has about a dozen mites and I am so scared of killing her with a toxic chemical. Any help is appreciated! I currently have jurrasimite by jurrasipet and have heard it’s also killed snakes.

Mites maby jappend to maby keepers without realizing :b preditor mites can appear by it self but i also got bio setups

I'm glad iv seen this viedo iv had mites for few weeks now iv tried a whole bunch of stuff all safe stuff nothing crazy but nothing has worked and most stuff u gotta do every day and with just 20 snakes and work every day and life in general isn't always that easy but I bought a bottle on Amazon it was like 50 but it had a coupon I paid 35 n 2 days after 1st use no more mites ima treat one more time in few days and I'm sure that will be the end of em I will always have a bottle of this
