Join Dan Mink, The Rhinestone Roper and multiple Wild West World Champion, as he teaches the most beautiful and graceful of all rope tricks: THE OCEAN WAVE.
This classic Cowboy maneuver seems difficult to learn only because it is appears to contradict the Laws of Physics. Dan explains and demonstrates the 3 ways that centrifugal forces act upon the rope and how the roper can use them to keep the loop open. You will also learn 4 methods of getting this loop started as well as how to transition out of it. You are invited to enjoy some Western fun and LEARN TO SPIN THE OCEAN WAVE.

I was just going though my grandfather's photos and one from 1942 said Ocean Wave Jump Through. I remember him roping us when we were kids and somehow we never got hurt. He told us Ohio kids that if we wanted to learn these tricks we had to get our toes ground to fit pointed boots like his. Thanks for showing the Ocean Wave. Now I'm off to look for the Jump Through.

Hi GB, That's funny being told about shaping your feet to wear cowboy boots. He must have been good with a rope. It takes skill to rope people without hurting them. My video OCEAN WAVE TRICK ROPING VARIATIONS has several Ocean Wave Jump Throughs. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ms1hMlrZITM.html

Just a great learning video. Not an easy trick for me. I wondered how long does a cotton spot cord last before I need to get a new one. Should the rope always be stiff like new or super soft and worn in? THanks again for all you do!!
@rhinestoneropers9204
@rhinestoneropers9204 2 месяца назад
I'm glad you liked it. And it is a difficult trick, at least it was for me. As for the rope, it is probably personnel preference, but I want my ropes to have some stiffness. My ropes last for years but I paint them to protect the outer surface and to keep them a bit stiff. After I paint them I spin them to break them in a bit before the first performance just to get used to how they feel.

Hello. I just wanted to leave a comment. I want to learn how to whip crack. It’s Texas and it is 106° so it’s too hot to go out and practice that right now. I figured it would be good to learn how to make the whips until it cools down enough so that I can go outside and start practicing. I figured that would help me in someway with learning how to crack Whips. All of that plaiting is dull. I’ve made about seven or eight of them so far and I’m still trying to get it down decently, but they do crack. I do know how to do a Cattlemans crack, an overhead crack, and a body wrap. I did go out to at least try to do those and was able to get them. Not the best, but I got them. Anyway, the point of my comment is that while I was working on trying to build another whip, I found your channel on trick roping. I now have a trick rope. It’s a 15 foot rope with a burner and it still in the package. Again, this is Texas and it’s way too hot to go outside right now to try to play with it. I just wanted to say thank you for putting these videos out. I’ve seen a few others put some out. You would think this would be a lot more popular than it is! Trying to find DVDs is not always the easiest. I don’t learn well from books. I’m a kinetic learner. Something that I really like about your videos is that you not only explain it, but I have also seen you show the view in different ways. Including from your view as the one doing the trick. I think that is fantastic and makes it easier to learn. I’m just watching all of your videos right now well I’m trying to braid this whip. Come September and October when you can walk outside and at least breathe, I want to start learning how to do some rope tricks. I most definitely subscribed and hit the all button. I was watching the videos on my work computer so I wasn’t able to hit the like on all of them, but I will go back and start hitting those once I have finished with this one. Thank you so much for making your videos! I also found some videos on other things that you have put out that I do definitely plan on attempting to learn! Thank you for putting those out and hopefully taking the time to read this.

And I got to say the absolute hardest trick I learned but now the absolute easiest trick I learned was the butterfly. Took 4 months to learn it and be consent. 1 year in I can do rollovers left and right arm, zigzag, arm bounces, turn arounds, arrow head, spoke hop, merry go round, wedding ring, and I have no idea what it is called the i can do that trick where you spin it behind you back in the regular butterfly. I can do about 9 trick i can thank about I just 1 year.

HI Woody, It's Apple Barrel acrylic paint. Out of the craft section at Walmart. I stretch the rope, squirt the paint into my hand and rub it on to the rope and let it dry while stretched.

@rhinestoneropers9204 Год назад
Hi Gabriel, I'm spinning 3/8 inch, cotton spot cord. The only place that I know you can get it is from Western Stage Props in Las Vegas. They have a good web site. Some people order their ropes from me. They tell me how long they want it and I get it, cut it to their length, tie an end knot and fashion a honda that is weighted for the length of rope and the type of tricks that they intend to do.
