I am that razor-blade guy. I have to edit in my work, but not very often. I would never have looked up these different methods myself so this was super-helpful!!! Thanks.
THANK YOU! I don't know why this isn't the default. I come from editing on sony vegas but trying to step up my editing by switching to premiere pro and the cutting process is painful compared to vegas... thanks for the help!!
After 3 days of extreme frustration and utterly hating Premiere Pro, you have saved the day. Thank you so much. This video was super helpful. You rock!!
OMG I have been trying to fix my custom settings for what feels like hours now...after they got deleted with an update 😱..searching for trim/cut at playhead... THANK YOU for the EDIT at playhead term!!! LIFESAVER 🤗
This was GREAT! Definitely gonna start weaning myself off the Razor tool. And this also inspired me to start setting more single key shortcuts for other frequent tasks. I'm more an After Effects guy, but always looking to speed up my workflow whenever using Premiere. Just subscribed, looking forward to more vids!
Great video! Thank you so much for the help. After editing my last video and it took several hours just cutting, I said to myself... I have got to learn the better way than this! Lol. I just kind of learnt this myself so I was doing it the crap way 🤦 This will save me tons of time! Subbed!
Simple cuts the razor blade tool can work fast. Press "C" then "V" to switch between tools. You can cut a single track or all the them by holding Shift when you click the razor tool.
Very good channel, im giving Premier a try, it is a little more complicated than FCPX but with more tools! We will see in one month. Thanks for your amazing content.
I always switched to the razor blade via a shortcut (C), cutting the ends of the part I wanted to delete, switched to the regular selector tool with a shortcut (V), then selected the piece, then ripple deleted with A. Good to know there's a better way, thanks for the video Chris! A question I've had for a while: the bulk of my audio editing process involves cutting out pauses. Is there any way to at least partially automate this task? I feel like there should be some option or some plugin that will cut out any silence longer than some inputted amount of time.
Actually yes! A plug-in creator recently asked me to review his and I tested it on this tutorial :) There is Autocut.io and Timebolt. Autocut is a plug-in for Premiere and Timebolt is a standalone application.
Since you are into productivity, you can automate 80% of the cut work in TimeBolt.io, then export a cut timeline into Premiere / FCXP with XML near instantly
I'm not understanding the ad slash edit whenever I do control C and then I go like 15 seconds later in the video and do control C again it just marks it and is not cutting the video
It's kind of hard to explain through text. But it basically means that you placed a cut in a section of the video that doesn't "need" to be cut. Like that is a continuous section of video and if you got rid of the cut, it would play the exact same. It's essentially a "warning" that you can simplify your timeline. You can disable it by clicking the wrench icon in your timeline and turning off "Show through edits"
