If you want to trim clock hands to fit your dial that is ok. In the video we trimmed clock hands to fit a dial. I had a minute hand and then I have the hour hand and we trimmed them to the desired length.
The hour hand is about 80% the length of the minute hand, maybe
2/3. Therefore, just trim both your hands accordingly.
You know when you buy a clock movement from us you get all the
hardware it's all included. If you require a minute hand less than 5 inches we will provide a free set of hour and minute hands with the purchase of a clock motor.
The I shaft on most of our motors have a oblong hole. After you put the hour hand on you fit the minute on that oblong hole and tighten it down with a small nut.
Now when you're trimming large hands you must know that they are balanced you can see in the video that it is a balanced hand. It will take a high torque motor to run this or drive these hands anything over 5 inches.
The large clock hand has to remain balanced so if I'm going to trim it back some to fit my dial face In trimming the hand it will no longer be balanced so what I have to do with the part that's clipped off just use some super glue and glue that part on so it has that weight right and therefore to remain balanced.
