This is the best and most thorough video in this. I have goats I trim every month, and most videos I’ve seen with trimming do it wrong. Thanks for being awesome mate

Very helpful. Im dealing currently with hooves that are long (deep), just got new ars clippers. It's going to take a bit to get them straightened out. You have strong hands for sure.

Great video Mark. I agree that trimming wet hooves is WAY easier. In fact, during the long, dry summer months I can't even use the trimmer you show in the video, I have to switch to a heavier-duty bypass-style trimmer (also called a "rose trimmer"). It cuts dry, hard hooves better, but it's harder to do fine trimming.

Glad it helped...I have found that even when their hooves are dry that the trimmer I'm using has cut them like butter. I know there are several that look similar but I haven't had that issue with this particular one and it gets awful dry in the summer here in Idaho. I wonder if we have look alikes but different altogether.

Thank you for the video! I was wondering what to do with the "heel" part of the hoof when I was trimming my three goats yesterday. I wish I'd watched your video in advance! The care you take to clearly explain what you are doing AND making sure that the video zooms in on the right views is amazing.

One thing I'd be interested to hear someone else comment on is the different growth rates and trimming requirements of the different breeds of goats. I have several Saanen X's whose hooves grow so fast that I literally need to trim them twice a month. Then I have a pair of pure Alpines that I only need to trim twice a year. All of them are on the same feed and live in the same enclosure (same type of ground), so I don't know why they have such differences in their hoof growth rate.

I was all ready to say, dairy goats, eating grain, of course, faster growth, then read the alpine reference....
