@@Zippofanatic77outdoors I did repack wick and cottton (cotton bacon) a few times and straightened and bend the wicks a few times resulting in one of my copper wires ripped in the middle of the wick...should I not use this wick with a ripped copper wire in the middle or this is something I should not worry about? the wick has never been trimmed , almost 4 inch..kinda lazy to repack again and maybe use even more cotton bacon. TLDR: I ripped one of my copper wire in the middle of the wick, does this make the wick bad and better change it or it's insignificant?
1. I dont trim wick to adjust flame height but rather pull it back into the insert 2. Dont trim off the entirety of charred portion, only trim off the deformed / badly damaged portion. saves wick and allows it to last longer and last but not least, i keep my wick level at the bottom of the top center chimney hole. I find thats the perfect height for me.
@@flovosky4792 buy the cheapest brass zippo available. But those inserts the brass wears off in no time. I’d get a zorro brass insert. It’s actually Made of brass. Can polish it for the rest of your days. Plus has a chimney cap. I’m going live tonight if your around I could show u.
Awesome dude, I just use my Leatherman Surge pliers/wirecutters to do all my Zippo and Zorro insert maintenance. I just got done trimming the wick and putting some cotton bacon prime in the Zorro metal gasket.
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors It is so good, I like it alot, the fuel lasts a little longer than the Zippo insert. The only downside is it takes about a little bit longer to do maintenance because you have to get the gasket to be flush with the insert. But it is no problem really.
@@cemetery895 no the gasket always sits flush because there are stoppers welded on into the inside of the insert. Only problem is that spiked thing doesnt want to penetrate th cotton when u pack to much in. Yeah I’m glad u like it fun little insert. Looks sharp too.
Thank's for sharing this informative video , Before I knew to remove the flint , from your not in use Zippos, I had a couple that the flint corroded , I got a suggestion I found on You Tube , using a small drill bit , I was nervous of damaging the thread ( no damage ) I was wondering what is your method of removing a corroded flint , Thank's in advance Jim
Hey Jim thanks I appreciate that. I just drill it out. If u check out my big channel I have two videos on there drilling out flints. I go over the ways to do it without damaging. Do it all on video. Pretty good one
@@Zippofanatic77outdoors Thank you very much , I watched and replied on your great video Jim , I don't have a large collection , my favs are one of my dad's old pipe lighters ( he passed in 19 76 ) and the the one I still carry , although I don't smoke , it has a very well worn map of Nova Scotia on it ,
Lol it is a good video I’m happy with it good info in it. No u don’t have to change the wick. I’ve had zero inserts with the zorro wick. Now what insert did u order ?
