Oakcliff's Rigger and Match 40 Fleet Manager, Chris Kennedy, gives a comprehensive lecture on how to tune your sailboat rig. He starts with an overview of the different types of rigs: straight spreaders, swept back spreaders, mast head vs fractional forestays, marconi rigs, etc. He then dives into the nuances of trimming adjustment lines to manipulate the masts position and bend when racing.
The audience for this lecture was our 2017 group of Saplings, or summer-long trainees. They receive teaching like this and hands on experience doing both maintenance and racing all summer.
