I'm based in Melbourne and have been into the car scene for 20 years now, I've seen drifting come and go I've seen Silvia's and skylines go from being worth $40k down to $4k and now back up to $60k for a Rough example, I sold new cars for Nissan for 14 years and its safe to say I have NISSAN BLOOD running through my veins yet here I am being unable to afford the cars I once had which has turned me to becoming a "HONDA BOI" I have to say they are great cars I love learning about them and lets face it value for money they are ridiculously fast!

You should try a small frame turbo like g25 550. There are decent copies of that turbo available for Budget build. Another option is push the ac condenser inside by 2 inches and put a pusher fan in the front. The only way to keep condenser is pusher fan instead of puller fan. A little bit of trimming of the radiator support and slight rerouting of ac lines to condenser.

Exactly what people have been doing for years to keep ac. Done it both on ek and dc2. It works but log style manifolds aid with clearance

1.6 motor needs a small turbo to make it so fun. It will not make massive amount of power but it will be fun!

I managed to keep my A/C by angled trimming the flange and a lil bit of the block. Its so tight. I kept the block trimmed to a minimum.

Idk man it all depends on how well you design your whole system, my buddy's setup with a t3/t4 is out of vacuum by 3k and producing boost by 3200. A well designed log manifold will help a turbo spool up quicker, together with an adequately sized exhaust pipe.

That’s what I did and what honed did, technically mine is a t2871 but the guys at honed developments run a t2560 ( a t25)

Run your turbo as low as you want. You will need it to drain in to a little sump bolted to the bottom of turbo with a low volume scavenger pump to put the oil back to motor

That’s a last resort option that people use when they have no other choice it’s less than ideal my man, more reserved for rear mount turbos or really really low mounts

Thanks Danny , if power is your goal then no air con and huge turbos is the way to go, if you want compact set up with air con and a sleeper with really quick response then go a smaller turbo

I watched the whole video and honestly i wanna keep ac so im on a journey to find a working top mount manifold because they look awesome with the tubo just sittin there lol .. I plan on doing an ac line tuck soon so the condensor an lines would be out the way

Don't some exhaust manifolds angle the turbo so that the cold side is pointing up away from the radiator and the exhaust side is pointing down. I am guessing such a design would promote issues with oil feed/lubrication, but I have no idea. Would be interested to know your thoughts on such a manifold design 🤔

@@TURBOTRISTO Many thanks for the reply and interest. 😁 So, looking at the front of the car in front of the engine block, instead of the turbo being mounted horizontally, mount it such that the inlet flange to the turbo is pointing up away from the radiator shroud and the exhaust flange is pointing down. So you might have enough room to fit pipework for a intake that runs above the radiator shroud and the exhaust side could potentially provide clearance to the air con equipment. Angled turbos do exist on BMW 145Ms and HKS recently released a kit for this specific purpose, to fit larger turbos in a tighter space. As I mentioned, I don't know if off the shelf eBay turbos must run horizontal or if there is a tolerance angle they can work in. The main concerns I might have would be oil feed and drain as well as thrust loads on the bearings, unless the turbos are designed with this in mind. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FwIqKNgnS8c.html Please see above a vid from HKS of the turbos I am referring to 😁 (I apologise that there is some light flicker, in the video but anyway....)

Hey I have a d16y9 honda ballade(civic sedan 1997). It's auto. Parts not that common in my country and would like to keep the ac and keep it auto on stock internals. I would like to keep it a daily with around 135-150kw on the wheel(wishful thinking). Any advice on how I can build a budget d16y9(non vtec) auto turbo without blowing up the transmission?

You can turbo it the exact same way as this on a budget but you will Need a customised manifold to clear the ac low boost under 10 psi and the auto Will be fine

@@TURBOTRISTO Without an aftermarket ECU like you did with the video after this? You mentioned that a smaller turbo would give it the response like a k-series? I don't mind going smaller to fit ac and to get response as I am a student and want to build it on a budget? Then I can slowly buy my parts. Also thanks for the content and the reply. Hey man I’ve got a 1.8 7afe corolla engine. And I’m wondering if I could use the stock manifold to fit a turbo. Also are the t3 and t25 turbos the same flanges?

Any thing Is possible mate just depends on space time and money - A t3 is called a t3 because of the flange size a t25 has a t2 flange so its smaller in everyway, so too keep it simple the first number after the first T is the exhaust flange size, E.G a t28 is a t2 flange a gt35 is a t3 flange a gt45 is a t4 flange and so on

No I would recomend a bigger turbo, ideally a 3582r with a 1.1 rear housing I have a gt3076 on my kseries and it’s too small

Would a large turbo like the t3/t4 on a d16 maintain the fuel efficiency most of the time since most of the time it's not in boost?

It will give you better economy because it will make more torque and power even off boost so you won’t need to rev as hard to do the speed limit but if you drive crazy then say goodbye to economy
