I have a beautiful old wooden bed that I bought in France several years ago while living there. Anyway, the bed got squeaky and the metal slat frame broke thanks to me and our old lab jumping on the bed! I couldn't bring myself to dump the headboard and footboard as they're so lovely. Guess I might just have to make a bench! Thanks for another great one Crys'Dawna.

Oh wow! yes yes yes do it!!! Is it a Rococo style bed because I am HUNTING for one of those next!!! I can only ever seem to find ones that won't fit an actual bed because they are that awkward single size so they are perfect for a bench!!!

@@BellaRenovare Unfortunately not. It's a wooden bed with a scene carved into the headboard. It's just gorgeous and I couldnt dump it. We left a louis XIV bed behind us (along with a few other things) that we intended going back for but fate intervened and we never did get to return for them. Had to tell the people who were storing them to just sell them and keep the money for the cost of storing them. I think they donated them to charity instead. Breaks my heart thinking of it.

Oh my❤❤ I did one like this a few years ago with no knowledge of what I was doing. I winged it...but after watching yours, I am proud to say I did it right😊. I didnt do the blended colours but it's still holding up in front of our outdoor fireplace. Right now I am working on an entryway bench/shelf out of an old door, I will be doing the same concept. Because of you...i attempted a blended finish on a big beast of a rocker (I know, what was i thinking!!) But for a first shot at it...i love it!! I added floral transfers and will be donating this piece to a senior housing property, for the residents use. I used DB navy, plum crazy, then a color i mixed to a light purple, and DB tea rose.

I love love love your pieces!! I tried to do my headboard… this shading blending thing you do. It takes practice for sure. I’ve always been good at dry brushing but this is not the same process. 😊Thank you for helping teach us how to do this process. ❤️🥰

If you make a drill hole in the corner big enough for your jigsaw blade. You just put the blade in and saw hole.. Also if you put the squared side of the seat and set it up against the back you can notch it out first then cut the seat with a added 8th inch. Notch the front. Perfect seat. Hope that helps save some time. Also hope you could understand that lol. Love your work!

Oh my I loved this so much learned so much. 1 question. If you had used that piece you cut off from the foot board. How would you have attached it to the sides? Would it also need some kind of frame to screw it to?

Yes brackets or before I affixed the seat I would have screwed from the bottom into the sides, the sides where too long to use, I forgot why I didn’t use them on the first bench until now it just didn’t line up good enough :)

You can yes, the key is to make sure you have support in the front so you could always buy or make legs for the front to support it, does that make sense?
