Method 1: Setting Up the Mood
"First things first - it’s not magic, but it’s close. You can use your iMac as a monitor for your PC, but not every iMac is invited to this party. Only iMacs between 2009 and 2014, with a 27-inch screen, are included to do so. If you’ve got one of these beauties, you're golden. If not... well, maybe start saving?
Method 2: Cables & Connections
You don’t need a magic wand, just the right cable. You’re looking for a "Mini DisplayPort" or "Thunderbolt cable". If you're holding an HDMI cable... Yeah, wrong party. Toss it aside.
You just need to plug the cable from your PC into your iMac’s Thunderbolt or Mini DisplayPort.
Method 3: Target Display Mode Activation
On your iMac, press "Command + F2" together - think of it like opening a secret door. Bam! Your iMac just transformed into a monitor. Your iMac is now a second screen for your PC. It’s basically Cinderella at the ball, only no one’s losing a shoe.
😱Troubleshooting
What if Command + F2 isn’t working? Don’t panic - even the best magic tricks need a backup plan.
Step 1. Make sure you're logged in as the main user on your iMac. No guest passes allowed here.
Step 2. Ensure your macOS is updated. No one likes being stuck in the past, even your iMac.
Step 3. Double-check the cable. Seriously, you don’t want to spend 30 minutes troubleshooting only to find out you grabbed a charging cable.
