This person hasn't a clue what he's talking about!! Clearly he used a laptop or he would've shown how to really do it from a chromebook. Instead, he demonstrated how to type the @ symbol from a windows based computer whereas chromebook does not run windows- he just wanted to post a very common problem to attract a lot of new chromebook owners and lure them - the unsuspecting users to waste their time watching his utterly useless video so he can get paid by RU-vid. PLEASE DO NOT let jerks like this get away with this kind of manipulative behavior!! PLEASE REPORT THIS VIDEO! And IF by chance you subscribed to his channels or video please UNSUBSCRIBE AND ALSO REPORT!! This is so NOT COOL! (The 1st thing all of us tried was of course holding down the shift button and tapping the '2' button. We're not imbeciles! I'm trying to log into the damn chromebook and wiped out the gmail I had because it's full and I started using my other gmail for everything so I wanted to log in with that one and setup stuff using that email. Now I can't log into the chromebook at all! My number 2 button has @ " then it has 2 @ below. It would stand to reason you have to hold something down in order to get the symbols above but as the @ sign is at the bottom as well (beside 2) how do we activate the symbols sharing the key/button on the damn chromebook. You know the main designer of the chromebook is a complete and utter idiot not to have the most common key easily accessible. Out of the 4 I have a brand new Acer chromebook which is supposedly their best chromebook so how is it the @ sign is visible but not functional? Genius google, simply genius!🤬😤😡

Check your keyboard input is US. If still no luck, you may need to try a hard reset or contact support.

So how about tell a person how to do a reset.

@@ADawn I do not want to use English (US). There should be ways to type @ on other keyboards.

Try this if it works: Hold down the "Shift" key. While holding "Shift," press the "\" (backslash) key located above the "Enter" key on keyboard. Releasing both keys will input the vertical pipe symbol ( | ) into your text field.

change your keyboard input to English US - if on GB it'll be switched around.

Keyboard settings may prevent this. Try English.

Try one of these: Press the Shift key and the 3 key at the same time. This is the most common method. Click on the time and battery icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen, and select the on-screen keyboard from the menu. Once the keyboard appears, click on the "#" symbol. You can also search for a "#" symbol online and copy it (Ctrl + C) to paste (Ctrl + V) into your document or text field.

It has something to do with the keyboard language setting. Should work for US English m

The at symbol is on the q for me

I figured it out: for some reason my laptop was set to British English. Bottom right corner showed "GB" for Great Britain. I had to go into settings, advanced settings, and change the language to Canadian English. Now I want to know how British people type @
