You can also change the layout of your keyboard to match if you have a different keyboard to the country you are in by going to 'Settings' 'Time & language' 'Language' & under the "Preferred languages" section, select the default language now click the options button & under the "Keyboards" section, click the 'Add a keyboard' button then select which layout you want to use (if it's mixed up as above it's usually a US layout you need) - hope this helps! Select the new keyboard layout you want to use.

As the hash key is being used more and more thanks to social media, you would have thought that it would be a lot more prominent on the keyboard. I found it after a lot of searching underneath the "backspace" key!! The number "3" key has a "£" sign on it...

(I have been searching online for the passed 60 mins for an answer to this issue) My dear little chromebook nearly found itself in the street in a thousand little pieces a few minutes ago because it was giving me the £ symbol instead of the # symbol after every fix I was given UNTIL NOW!
