How to Unblock the Pump on a Washing Machine

Thank you so much, even me DIY extraordinaire felt slighty reluctant to delve this far, but in the end was so simple. In my case I had a lovely elastic band wrapped around the spindle which took a little bit of calm and dexterity to remove with a long thin Phillips screw driver. The only thing I would say is that I didn't need to move the Washing machine BUT I did expertly unscrew the pump catridge thingy slightly enough to drain water onto the towel and close again when I knew my towel could not take any more water. I did this around 6 times, and that is after I had emptied the drum of water using a small plastic container. Thanks again for this video, very professional and sound advice.

I did this by chance and it worked, now watching the clip I realised how lucky I was, wish I had watched it first, it vould have saved me threating over the cost of a new machine. Great bit of advice inside 1 minute....cool

I felt there is no way I can do this but im gonna try right now cos everytime I try to use it it keeps triping my box so I was told to do this and try he made it look so simple ive got to try it

All very good if you can lift a washer .to unblock filter . I couldn't I'm a woman .... water everywhere ..why don't manufacturers deal with this.. I'm 65 ..and not yet as any Einstein thought about putting It a bit. Higher!

When I see two mistakes in the first thirty seconds - adjustable spanner referred to as adjustable pliers, and 45 degree angle described as 90 degrees - it makes me lose trust in the rest.

What bullshit. This is how you clean it out before you have a blockage. When the water isnt draining it weighs a million pounds and you arent lifting it anywhere unless you are a bodybuilder. I tried to put it on the rinse cycle hoping it would clear it out no such luck. I have to clean it out about 2x a month due to washing pet blankets. What Im in for is a gallon of water at least leaking all over the floor and down the heating vent. Im surprised fish dont jump out of the vent with all the water that has drained down it. And no I dont use the heating vents because Im afraid of an electrical fire and I live in Southern Arizona where central heat in not necessary.
