heads up, if you are stuck waiting for a connection in the tool, you need to have Qualcomm USB drivers installed and make sure your windows is in testing mode. It should fix most issues that you might come up with trying to get your phone properly detected by the computer. Otherwise, it's a great tutorial video.
@@josecarlosgomez3989 Hit start first, then hold down your volume rocker (for EDL mode) and then plug it in. It'll immediately connect and start flashing.

Max you seriously saved me again. I was about to toss this OnePlus 8 Pro in the trash. The only problem I had was the USB cable I was using didn't let me boot into EDL mode. I switched cables and 1st try worked!

OnePlus 9 Pro, I was running LineageOS and went through official instructions to update to a newer version (from 18 to 19). One step involved flashing updated firmware from official OOS rom, even though I did everything exactly as described in instructions, bootloader and os broke, and the phone was stuck in fastboot loop. After digging through info, Msm seemed like best choice. Successfully reset to stock ROM with this tutorial, thanks, super easy! OOS is a total mess, but with Lineage OS this phone is perfect.
My friend one question I tried to root my phone because every 2 hours approximately the system consume 1 gb of storage, in 2 week maybe consume all the storage of the phone, you know something of this type error, can you give me some light on it. I can pay for your advice because this problem has me crazy because every 2 weeks I have to reset the phone, I want to root it to see what files are consuming the memory. Oneplus 8 pro. thank you!!!
This comment is pretty late compared to when the video was created but just needed to post this to show my appreciation. There was guides out there that gave the same instructions but as someone who absolutely kills for visual demonstrations I couldn't be anymore happy. My OnePlus 8 Pro wasn't bricked but I went to try out a custom ROM (Pixel Experience) and although it was smooth, it just didn't have the same feel and appeal as OxygenOS did so I had to find a way to go back. The way you went through it all was just super reassuring. Thank you so much for your help man! Also, nice PC name. Daddy-PC LMAO.
Yay! This helped me out big time today. Two additional bits noted by others were: Ensure that the qualcomm drivers are installed and, if you don't see the device in the device manager, try another cable.

Thanks this worked. Wasn't able to boot to EDL using the button combination but flashing TWRP that has button for it it booted there. Also had to search for EDL drivers but after finding then and rebooting all went good!

What is the best custom ROM you'd suggest for OP Nord ? Since you suggest that Custom ROMS are the key to unleash OnePlus potential, I am more than curious. Thanks a lot for that tutorial it really has helped me, I bricked the phone that I had put to Lineage OS while going back to Oxygen. This tool is great and after struggling on Linux, I'll definitely keep a dual-boot at hand to be able to tweak my Oneplus device without any worries.
Holy sht, this video just saved my OP 9pro and my money! You're my life saver man! I'm just inches away to have my phone fixed by an authorized phone fixer. Btw, if you are trying to do this, make sure that your pc/laptop is on "Test Mode" in order for the "Status of Connection" be appeared connected.

Thank you for the guide, it was very helpful! However, I had some issues getting the smartphone detected by MSM. My PC didn’t have the Qualcomm drivers, so it didn’t recognize the device. I resolved this by opening Device Manager, finding the ‘qualcomm_bulk’ drivers, and updating them with Windows Update. Additionally, to enter EDL mode, I had to hold down both volume buttons and then connect the USB cable. Thanks!
So my OnePlus 8 completely bricked on its own. It was just sitting there working fine. When I went to use it, the screen would not come on. It is completely unresponsive. The only sign of life is that my pc will recognize it in the device manager. Since I can't power on the phone, how can I go about backing up my data?

i bricked my oneplus 7 phone on android 11 and i dont have msm for android 11 version as it was still in open beta can i use the android 10 version of msm tool and roll back to android 10 will it work?
