You just saved my night & $$$. The kid locked the keys in the car (a 2000 Nissan maxima) , it's the middle of the night and it's pouring outside. I didn't have any of your tools but I did just fine using the same technique with an old piece of wood to open the door a bit and a straightened coat hanger to pull the door handle. It took me longer (about 30min), I had to pull hard on the door to get the piece of wood in,but it eventually worked! Thanks so much for sharing!
After watching this video, i used cedar shingles (shims) and a coat hanger. was able to open the gap, hook the key ring and pull my keys to safety. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!
I purchased a air bag similar to the ones in the video at my local home improvement (Menards) for $17. I also bought a metal rod and bent it like the one in the video. Worked great!!! Thanks!

Tnx for the video. My dad tried for 3 hours and no luck. But whit you're method we managed under 5 min. We had no tools but we used a hanger and 2 wood pallets as a lever. Tnx again for the help.
Its call the "big easy" made by wreck it come in a kit with everything he's using. I believe it's 60 to 70 dollars not real sure of the actual price any of your professional tool companies can sell you one and drop ship it. Cromwell, snapon, Mac, matco, steck themselves.
the way you wedged that door, you were lucky the door did not bend or the window shatter,, i have seen lots of windows shatter by using this method.. i would of used a strip and pulled up the door lock handle... a beginner could have opened that car in seconds
I just avoided calling someone to open my car w painters wooden wedges and a coat hanger to pull the lock I put the coat hanger through the side not top of the door
+Sabri Dorifto Happened to be too on a '98 Cadillac Deville I owned. I was young, desperate, and frantic to think of what to do. Certainly didnt want to break window. I had heard of those mobile car lock companies around town where I was and called them. One came out to me. BIG huge guy. OMG. Anyways....he used practically the same tools as in the video. The bad part is they charged me something like $80 or $90. Dont remember exactly. But in less than a minute I had my keys and engine off. I made a few spare door keys. Much much cheaper.
No you don't, you can just push a button to lock the doors, with the keys on your center console...that's where I set them when I am gathering my stuff to get out of my car.
