How to Update BIOS on X570 Motherboard 

ASUS EZ Flash 3 allows you to download and update to the latest BIOS through the Internet without having to use a bootable disk or an OS-based utility.

Here is my experience flashing my ASUS x570 TUF motherboard BIOS using the internet method. Watching this video, I thought that it will be foolproof and easy. I was having problems using my computer sleep mode and I thought that flashing the BIOS would help solve the problem. The last time I flashed a computer BIOS was 10 years ago when I built my own computer. Much harder back then it seems like. The BIOS on my motherboard was originally on version 0508. I logged into my BIOS and I ran EZ Flash 3 Update utility and I selected the internet method as per video. The year 2020 3001 BIOS version was selected and the update program was run. The computer was rebooted and LED lights firmware was updated and there was another reboot. Strangely, it went back into the BIOS and I got a message asking whether I wanted to recover the BIOS? I said no and I exited the BIOS. I went into Windows 10 and NZXT program said that the BIOS was on version 3001. I ran Outlook and RU-vid and my computer froze up with the hour glass running. Control Alt Del didn't work. I powered off my computer and I turned it back on. My computer started working nornally and it seems faster and snapper. I ran the game Halo and my computer seem normal and it didn't crash. The only problem is that on the Asus website, there are newer BIOS versions available. I don't know why the EZ Flash 3 utility selected version 3001. When I go into my BIOS and I run the EZ Flash 3 utility program, there is no option to update the BIOS using internet or USB. It seems to have been disabled? Maybe I should download the newer BIOS versions on a USB flash drive and try again? This is my experience flashing the ASUS x570 BIOS using the internet method. Not as simple as it seems.

it is no longer possible to update the bios over the internet, only by flash drive (asus tuf gaming x570 plus). If u update bios to new version there is NO OPTION to update via internet.

I wish the poster would answer the question about 5 people asked I will re ask it for them " DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE A WIRED INTERNET CONNECTION TO UPDATE " ? This is a very simple question that only requires a YES or NO answer , as people are getting a messge saying while in the bios 'NOT CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET , even though their wifi is working prefectly fine .

I know I'm a bit late. When doing this bios update, is the cpu supposed to be in the motherboard? What I'm asking is, what should be attached and what shouldn't be? Should ethernet be plugged in? Sorry, first time builder here!!

I had a heck of time updating my bios Brian. It would say I'm not on line doing it the internet way and when I tried to do it manually, it said it was not a proper bios. Finally now, it's working on line updating as I type this. I had one crash when I took my head set out of the front panel where it shut down the pc. Other then that, it's Ok, but it's only been a couple hours since I've installed windows.

I have a question : Would you do this before or after installing mobo drivers (chipset, lan, audio, etc)?

Please tell me how to flash the BIOS on this board that won't boot.

I would rather do it from a thumb drive. If you are flashing from the internet and you lose connection or it gets interrupted, your MB will be bricked or am I wrong? I just bought this board and understand that there is not a bios flashback. I am upgrading my system from an FX 8350 cpu. I purchased the Asus tuf gaming plus WiFi, an AMD Ryzen 9 3900x, 32Gb of Corsair Vengance 3600 ram, 2 2TB Samsung 970 Evo plus M.2 drives and am keeping my Nvidia GTX 1080ti video card. What do you think of my choices and am I correct that if the bios update messes up the board is bricked? Thank you for sharing your video. No install via internet anymore. Have to use a flashdrive. Also, you ABSOLUTELY need to extract the files once you download the bios update on a flashdrive. It cannot read it otherwise. I spent hours trying to figure out this shit

In some situations the most recent version is not necessarily the correct version to update first. Will this make that determination for you?

When I go to tools, there isn't a via storage device nor a via internet option. Neither of those pop up.

I could not find the bios update on my 2020 bios set up, I have not touched till date. The current BIOS form the manufactures is "1. Update AGESA version to ComboV2PI 1.2.0.B 2. Update AMD 5000/3000 Series CPU fTPM version, please back up Bitlocker recovery key before updating this version BIOS. Before running the USB flashback tool，please rename the BIOS file (SX570FG.CAP) using BIOSRenamer" I downloaded this zipped file, but unsure on how to update it.

I just updated my Prime X570 Pro bios from ver 1005 to ver 1407 and now my computer won’t boot past the Bios screen. It sees my Force MP600 NVME M.2 (1GB) but it doesn’t show up under Boot Priority. Also I have Corsair 2x16MB DDR4 3200MHz. It won’t allow me to change it so the 3200MHz is recognized. It keeps showing at 2133MHz.

I followed these directions but my mobo is now boot cycling. Things were going well, but when it got to the automated restart it never stopped. Any idea how to fix it? I cannot even get into the bios.

I tried updating via internet in the BIOS, and using your method it doesn't want to bring up that screen. I'm not sure if you need a hard-wired (ethernet) connection or not, but I'm only on wireless and it will not bring that screen up to update via internet. I was on ver.2812 (Oct. '20) and now on 4408 (Nov '22), so unless they've omitted that functionality since this vid was made, I'm not sure what's going on.

My bios (ASUS TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (Wi-FI) version 2802 does not have the option to download from the internet.

Ok so with my new 5800X- buold system as normal and plugin ethernet when I first boot it up to do this method of flashing BIOS? I am transferring hard drives with Windows 10 I know to disconnect the ethernet for that

I just ordered this motherboard and AMD Ryzen 7 5700x CPU. I checked and with this CPU requires above BIOS version 4021. If the motherboard I receive has version less than 4021, will I still be able to boot to the BIOS and update the BIOS? There is no flash button option with this motherboard to do it without CPU.

Finished the bios update and now I get the red cpu light, along with two beeps and nothing. Performed via storage method.

mine says disable boot locker in os it will not install the bios Also the internet option does not show

So i updated my BIOS to the most current. (4408) and now that it's updated i can not for the life of me figure out how to access BIOS now. beforehand, it was Del or F2. Now it just instant boots to Windows no matter what i press. I turned Fast startup off through the power settings and it did nothing whatsoever.

Via the internet only works if you're using a cable. Wifi won't work :/

I updated my bios and booted by pc and it didn’t boot windows back up. My boot original boot drive is also not showing up as available as a boot drive in the bios. So I was wondering if you could help.

Wouldn’t recommend doing this through the internet. Bricked up the motherboard and shows a white VGA light. Maybe using a USB would be different.

I over clocked my ryzen 7 3700x and now i cant get it to downclock at idle.. Amd cool and quiet doesnt exist in my TUF X570 plus wifi board. I changed my power plan in windows to 5% minimum on the cpu but it still sits @ 4.3ghz even @ idle. Anyone have any ideas?

hi Britec09 i hope you can help me, i was trying to update the bios of my laptop, during the installation the fan went crazy like never before; after its finished it tried to restart then it went silence all of the sudden and only the power button has light, I was waiting for 30 min, when nothing happened, I unplugged the charger and plugged it back; this time even the power button had no light and now the whole laptop has no power at all. ps: the charger is working fine, I checked.

When I try to use the EZFlash Update by internet feature, I lose all internet connections (the entire network goes down) during the download process and the progress bar stops at 8% (since the internet goes out). When I reboot, I have to reset my boot priority to to my boot drive. Any thoughts about what may be causing this? Obviously, I'll need to update via USB, but this just seems weird. Mobo is an ASUS Rog Strix x570-e gaming w/ Ryzen 3700x. Also I am going through an Ethernet connection to the router to the modem.

My BIOS has NONE of that in it. Tools is empty. Maybe I need to clear CMOS? ASUS is so Janky on their BIOS.

interesting,,,my X570 plus wifi mb doesnt have the Internet download option!! weird!! ,,,I just got it updated to 03/22/2021 FW version 3603 due to the bug memory/CPU issue cause system restart (very rare occasion)

I'm praying this will fix my blue-screen "DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION" error. 🙏 I literally cannot go 10 seconds on windows without it freezing then that error 😒 Mine didn't give me the option to do it via internet though... I did have the file I'm the flash drive as I was looking up the video though. Just didn't know how to execute the file without windows crashing on me in the first place.

Britec must be using direct cable to Asus?! Half an hour on 2% of downloading only, using LAN cable Cat6 with 150mbps... 😂 Had to reset and update via USB flash (4 min. aprx) 😂
