I realize this is a very old video..Bought my 2000 way back..Never will upgrade the thing..Probably want take the covers off untill something happens to it..I have been thinking about an anytone DMR..That radio also needs the use of a computer or pc to program and I feel like a computer that hooks to the internet for programming is not ham radio .Ham radio to me is the last thing working in a complete collapse of all infrastructure..I can not deny the appeal of the DMR radios.Been thinking about the DMR for years but I do not know how usefull one would be in central AL..My Elmor warned me this day would come..Godbless him..
Hey Jay, I know what you mean. DMR is fun, when there is a geomagnetic storm and the HF bands are dead, Then you can pick up ur handie talkie and speak to Texas or UK and several other countries. It's a little difficult to change to new things, but all in all, some things are worth the change! Thank you for watching my video!!
I would be curious what did you gain from that firmware update. I guess I could go read Kenwood's site :^). But maybe you could post it in a nutshell. Thanks for the video. I haven't really thought of updating my firmware on the TS-2000x
Mine would not work for some reason. When I connected the radio to the pc the program kept saying , ts-2000 not detected. Time after time. My checj sum is 8119. The radio works fine but the pre amp must be on to get any normal s meter reading on ssb which is annoying for the radio that it is. Any way thank you for the post Ritch.

@@jaynone9262 I had a heart attack a few days after this video. 3 stints later my priorities changed. I did attempt it but to no success later. I will end up sending it to Kenwood eventually.
@@eagledustoff37shortserious65 I understood. Many take everyday for granted. When something like that happens we realize things that we thought important at the time mean very little to us after such an event as or priorities greatly change .Wish you a speedy and full recovery.
Thanks for the vid Rich. What about the 2000 software ... we just upgraded to a 64bit (windows 7) system. Has Kenwood left users in the lurch, with software that no longer works?
Hi, my name is Alejandro, I'm from Argentina. Today I wanted to access the service menu and after connecting it to the PC and returning the S1 to its normal position, the computer did not fire anymore. Is there any solution? I suppose the firmware is hung or corrupted. I would appreciate your help, thank you.
I tried to do mine and it got to 73% and stopped so I followed the instructions to remove power plug back in and restart the upgrade. It was now that I got the TS-2000 not detected and that was it dead dead. Its so dead now It's had to go away for repair (I Hope) dam computers. I understand this is quite common for it to fail in this manner shame on Kenwood I say.
It is a TERRIBLE radio.It ranks right up there with the Yaesu 857D and it is downright PATHETIC on its best day.I am so happy I have my TS-2000 Sold and I warned the new owner ahead of time so he won’t be mad at me.If someone tried to give me another one I would refuse it if I were required to keep and use it.I find it to be the most overrated POS I have ever wasted my money on just like the 857D.If you’re considering buying one Run as fast as you can away and buy something wort having such as an ICOM 9100 but do whatever it takes to avoid ever wasting your money and time on the Kenwood TS-2000.I promise you will thank me later.
Do yourself a favor and DON’T buy this POS Radio.It has a TERRIBLE receiver on every band.It is pathetic and I replaced mine with an ICOM 821H which is far easier to use and program.The TS-2000 is far from being a good radio for any band.
