Great timing and relevant to me considering I just found an unpatched switch and set up Atmosphere with a 128 GB microSD. Definitely going to be a great reference when I inevitably upgrade. Thanks!
Thanks a bunch, was able to switch to a new sd card as old one was dying. It was a low quality card, now i got a nintendo branded one of higher capacity.
Hi I followed your tutorial everything was going fine up until 17.41 I launched the firmware and when it come on I get an error saying “unable to access Micro sdcard please turn off the console and reinsert the Micro sdcard” does anyone have any idea what to do?
Thanks for the tutorial , REALLY informative! I value and trust your videos when I have a mod id like to do in my various gaming devices and am relieved when you have a video to help! Cheers!
Thank you for this guide! I upgraded from 128 GB to 256 GB. However, I used a different software. The AOMEI Partition Assistant is really slow and it's stuck at 1%. I decided to use Macrium Reflect. They have the same settings to configure so it's not hard to use Macrium. It only took 2 hours to clone a full 128 GB card. I wouldn't have upgraded my SD card if not for this video. @@MrMario2011 i have question my system is based on sd files so i copyed my sd card and transferred it to my new sd card but when i injected it gave me a error saying update binloader im on the old unptached switch
Might be a dumb question, but can i still access both the sysMMC (OFW) and the emuMMC (CFW) on the Hekate menu after i successfully transfer the files on the new SD Card like usual?
just out of curiosity, what are you planning to use a whole TB for on the switch? I'm on the fence on whether I should get 512 or 1TB as an upgrade to my current 128 so I'd like to hear why you chose to upgrade
@ABDALLAH42069 i have alot of rpgs and metrodvania games on my 512gb..400 was used up, so i just had to upgrade 😅 i also have games like like psx, psp and all the older retro games
Will this work with android partitions too? I have both atmosphere (not emummc) and android installed, so shouldn’t I just be able to allocate the android partition with the new sd and then transfer my files?
Ive followed your guide and all went well, I was able to boot on the new sd card but all my games were missing. Is there any way to fix this or do I need to redownload them all again? Thank you
Hi, I want to use 2 different SD cards in my switch with different games, but do both SD cards need to have the same EMUMMC, or can I set up a new SD card from scratch and just use my old one when I want?
You can migrate the same emuMMC to another card, but you won't be able to easily keep them in sync since the emuMMC is on the cards themselves, not the system.
@@MrMario2011 So I can put a fresh SD card in my switch and install a new EMUMMC on that card, and then if I switch back to my old card, I will still have all the games and saves on it?
Why not use geniusdisk free version and clone the OLD SD to new one. Make sure use the option copy file so u can toggle the fat32 partition to expand with new sd card capacity.
Hello. I'm going to transfer from a 256GB to 512GB SD card. It says in the guide to "turn your Switch on with the Hekate payload renamed to payload.bin on the root of your microSD card." My question is, after I'm done with the whole process of transfering to an sd card do I rename the payload to what it originally was? I'm using the switch hacks guide website and it doesn't specify it. Also, I'm not going with the emuMMC route (I don't care about online). Thanks
I have a somewhat related question. I have a 1tb sd card with a quad partition (HOS, Atmosphere, Android and Linux) for some reason it stopped booting into atmosphere (just hangs on the switch logo) it boots into the rest just fine. This sd card was updated to the latest version of everything using the HATS pack. I have an old 512gb sd on 16.0 which can access all the partitions including atmosphere. What's the easiest way to get the 1tb sd back to launching atmosphere? I don't really want to wipe it as it's full of games. Any suggestions?
Never ran into that personally. If you're going to mess with partitions, especially that many, you'll probably just have to wipe it and start fresh for the path of least resistance.
@@MrMario2011 Ok thanks. I got it going temporarily last night but the card was really laggy. Then I went to put a theme back on it and I've got the same issue again 🤣 I guess I'll just rebuild the emummc and start it all over again. Is there a way to copy the 512gb card as is? I'm meaning like partitions and all? That would be the quickest way, then I'd just have to use the latest HATS pack and I'd be close to where I was just minus a ton of games.
I have a problem when copying over I am using a SD File and I am upgrading from a 400GB to a 1TB the problem copying over is at the emuMMC folders. I did everything I saw. Do I have to back up my emuMMC and then restore it on the new card???
I know it's been a while since this was posted but i knew this would be helpful. However my emummc is saying disabled in Hekate and I have no clue what to do. I didn't jailbreak my switch but i purchased it already jailbroke. Can you please guide me a little bit on what to do from here since my emummc is disabled and I still want to upgrade my SD card.
In case anyone experience partial backup (due to no memory space left though you have already delete all the your games etc), you need to take out your SD card and get into PC to transfer (Ctrl + V) few backed up files earlier to give more extra SD card space for you to continue the backup process later. Basically, Hekatu will do the backup by partition (i.e rawnand.bin.00, rawnand.bin.01, rawnand.bin.03 and so on...). Just make sure you dont delete the latest backup file otherwise Hekatu wont able to continue based on the latest backup.
I have a android partition on my old sd card. Will that be transferred to the new sd card during this process or is there something else that I have to do?
Hi, so I just have a regular SD file (with no partition). Everything booted up fine after transferring the files but when I try to load the games it says cannot load software, try again from home menu. On tinfoil, there’s a section that says incomplete and I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the games. What should I do from here?
Try and arch bit fix vv (Make sure your Switch is in RCM mode and in hekate.) In hekate, click on: Tools ➜ Arch bit • RCM Touch • Pkg1/2 ➜ Fix Archive Bit Let it run and when finished launch your CFW again. had same issue tried sys-patch and sig patch but did not work once I did the "Fix Archvie" Everything worked.
when I try to restore, it tells me that no file were found, so I get an error in while in hekate to do the boot and boot 01. Files are located in the correct folder
@@MrMario2011 ended up going with a SanDisk 512gb from Walmart, only was 20usd! Seems to be the same spec as the official switch ones. Hoping for the best
What a bummer, seems as if I didn't save my emummc backup and only sys backup for some reason. My 256gb SD card corrupted last night after trying to install Hades which crashed the system not allowing me to boot. Think I'm gonna restart the whole process sadly lol@@MrMario2011
Its because the OLED is a 64GB internal vs Standard/Lite that have 32GB internal. Therefore, you have to emulate a 64GB sysnand (2x58) instead of the 32GB Sysnand (2x29) like shown in the video. Just go with 2x58 and you should be fine. Worked for me.
Can you do how to update hekate, atm and hos, since I tried to migrate from 128gb to 512gb card, using file sd but my payload won't load, my switch just stay dead even when I tried to boot. But using latest hekate my switch can enter boot but I lost all my 128gb setting I can't even load atm
Why is it necessary to put in on FAT32? it's not a really convinient format because of the 4gb transfer limit, and my other card that's exFAT worked just fine
No luck for me. Everything is fine until 17:35. Atfer tapping Launch i get emuMMS is forced but not enabled. after reboot emuMMC is in disabled state and i can't enable it.
What if you cannot load back into hekate? I have tried several things and looked for info but everything I saw to try doesn’t work. Always loads into atmosphere. It’s like hekate doesn’t exist? Is there a way to reinstall hekate?
It will launch as long as you inject the payload. If you have it set to autoboot Atmosphere, you need to hold Vol+ or Vol- when you inject and boot into Hekate.
Bro I have just bought a jailbreak Switch Light. and when I followed your instruction, I've found my emuMMC info & selection is Disabled. I don't know what I have to do now
I have a Switch OLED. When I want to make the partition I do not have the 2x29 option, but instead I have 2x58 directly. In the comments I see that the same thing happens to several people. Even so, my question is this, why should I choose 2x58 instead of just 58 Full? Why does the Switch OLED need 2 Emummc?
@@MrMario2011 At minute 11:10 you mention 2x29 Mario, and since I don't have . Could you clarify this for me please? Another thing, is there any way to know if it is safe to play from the original CFW without the risk of banning?
What is this 29 Full, can i push it more to the right to get more space or does it create any issues. I just wanna use the homebrew and not the stock side
If it was me? I would temporarily format the card in a PC after it has been partitioned to exFAT And only load up Hekate in order to copy over and restore your rawnand.bin file. After that has been restored, format the main data partition on PC to FAT32 And do your file copy.
10:42 I’m updating my micro sd card but I also have android and I was planning on installing Linux because I know the processes are similar so should I partition Linux and Android here if I want to flash those?
No applications have chunks higher than 4 GB once installed, they are split. That sounds like you're trying to transfer over NSPs that you either haven't installed yet or already installed and never deleted.
will there be a problem if i do not have those files at 15:16? the system emmc? i just found out that i do not have those...but i still have the files inside emummc folder
So, the thing is, I just copied and pasted everything from my old SD CARD in a folder on my laptop. But now, the old SD is corrupted. I placed everything from the old SD that I had in my laptop, in my new SD card. But it doesn't work. Do you have any suggestions?
@@MrMario2011 nvm, it seems I can create a FULL NAND folder from the old SD. The nxnand manager is loading, I hope it'll work... thank you for answering 🔥
exFAT driver is problematic and can corrupt your data easily on CFW, which is why it isn't recommended. Install any large files through something like DBI and USB and it won't be an issue.
@@MrMario2011 I won't go online on it tho, also I wanted to ask all the tools that are not in the homebrew I would have to find them in GitHub or you have a guide for that too ? Sorry for the bother I'm new to this so just want to do things right.
I'm having the same issue. Everything works and in the hekate menu Everything is showing as good. However, I get the can't read the micro sd as soon as I boot into atmosphere. I even get a message stating that the system needs to update the switch firmware when I try to load one of my cartridges. I'm on 17.0.0 and AMS 1.6.2E.
After banging my head against the wall with the can't read microsd error, I think I finally found my issue. I ran the archive bit fix tool in hekate and it looks like everything is working now. In hekate, go to tools and click on the menu option on the right hand corner. In that menu you will see the option for the archive bit.
Can you please teach us android users how to do everything with an android and maybe some other sort of devices if needed but please can you help me do this with an android
@MrMario2011 The best way is to use a simple disk clone utility. I trief all these special ways and they all failed. The clone disk way is easy in just 1 step and always works no matter what kind of setup you run
@@faystoface3134 Just Google for disk clone and just clone with what you find for free. I tried so many other methods till I found this and it just worked instantly
hey man i did everything in this video but when i went into the backup folder i didint have the files at 15:16 and went i went to restore emummc with the raw partition on it says "this may render revice inoperative are you really sure? i dont understand i did everything exactly like you did. am i screwed now?
