Super helpful video thank you so much! Was installing a new cpu from a ryzen 5 2600 to a ryzen 7 5700x and it wouldn’t start and had to reinstall the old cpu again to get the new bios
Love these types of videos as they have a calming influence when this task is needed to be done! Nice looking motherboard too. I am curious however as to why you would change to a 5600 6 core which seems a downgrade? Plus why the existing setup is using this rgb cooling fan rather than a tower setup? I assume this was in a small case and media use only? Thanks for sharing Mike and Kath👍
the motherboard is a new purchase and the cooler was just a easy one to fit that was nearby. The motherboard was actually fitted yesterday to it's final place in a nice like £500 PC build, the video for that should be out soon
Thank god I didn’t sell my old cpu I had to download it onto my usb and the east to use bios instant flash tool is cool for it ready for my new r7 5800x upgrading from r5 3600 hopefully no more bottle neck for my rtx 3060
Hello Mike, Which Ryzen 5000 processor do you recommend for this motherboard that it can handle well? I was thinking of upgrading my system to a 5700X and RTX 3060. Will this system run with my 450-watt PSU? I've been watching your videos for a long time, and I love your dedication and hard work.
to be honest a don't really recommend a b450 with 3000 or 5000 series processors unless totally necessary. but if you have to the 5700x is fine and you might just get by with the 450w psu but you are at the very edge of the knife there
Great video Mike. Can I ask some more question? I'll be upgrading my friend board this weekend, right now he uses 2200G and he will be upgrading to 5600. In case the 5600 comes as a dud, can he still use his old 2200G while waiting for the RMA process? Thanks in advance!
My son has this mobo and could be an upgrade from r5 2600 to 3600 soon. Useful to see how to do bios update on asrock. We are holding onto this mobo as it's been very reliable and no problems so far...
@@mikesunboxing Hi Mike just a quick question. Currently have r5 2600 installed on this mobo. r5 5600 will be here soon. Is it advisable to take the mobo out of the case and do it the way you have on the box? As it's in my son's case just now. Also is it a good idea to disconnect the sata drives minimum peripherals so less can go wrong? Looked briefly at the asrock website and the bios that enabled 5000 series CPU was 3.60. would you go with the latest version or 3.60? After flashing the bios to a newer version I take it the r5 2600 won't work on this mobo anymore and then it's just a case of a swap over to the 5600 CPU? Just want to make sure I've got this right before I do it.Famous last words. Lol🤣🤣🤣

Hi Mike I really love your videos easy to follow. My old system runs r5 2600, gskill 2666mhz and rtx2060 mobo b450 steellegend bios 2.30. So I upgraded to r7 3700x, t-force 3600mhz, rtx 3070ti. I updated bios to 4.30. Ram cant go any higher than 3200mhz and gpu is not running to 100% my fps on CodMw when I go to multi-player screen is 12- 40 its very low. I also did the cmos reset followed instructions on Yt delete gpu drivers and re installed. Running out of options. What do i need to do? Is it possible to rollback the bios?
In the support page is written that is not recommended to upgrade to the latest BIOS versions if using a Pinnacle, Raven or summit ridge CPU. But if I have to upgrade the bios for a Ryzen 7 5700x3D by using a previous Ryzen 5 2600x is it possible? Or is there the risk to corrupt the BIOS or brick the motherboard? Thank you
the warning is because the newer bios isn't optimised for the older processors, if you are upgraded the CPU you have no choice and have to update it to the newer versions.
Hey....I have a running PC with AsRock B450M Steel Legend and AMD Ryzen 3 3200G. Running Bios 4.20....Now I want to replace the processor with AMD Ryzen 5 5600G. Will I have to update the bios before installing 5600G? Thank You
i know this is an old comment, but i'm having the issue with the x570 steel legend where it doesnt "flash" my drive and i've been following the video. this is my 5th or 6th time trying to update bios in the past 2 months and still haven't had any luck
One question boss, can i use ryzen 7 5700x straight out of the box on this motherboard?its my first time using ryzen cpu and the motherboard is also new..hope you can give me the answer thanks
thanks easy to follow.....one ???? now have a AMD cpu in system....upgrading to a different AMD cpu.......can I update bios with old cpu before I install new cpu.............THANKS

My current system 2.30 with 3200g. And I want to upgrade to 5600g which is need bios version.3.90. Should I install In order one by one bios 2.50, 2.70 and so on or directly install the 3.90? Also, I see latest version 4.60. Should I use latest version once I install 5600g?
I have a ryzen 5 5600g cpu, it is necessary to have an older version of cpu to update the bios? If does what are the alternative if I only have a 5600g? Thanks!
Hi I’m building a PC for the first time and my motherboard has power but the pc won’t turn on is that a bios problem , I have a ryzen 5 5500 , and how do I install a bios on a new pc
So i got the same board with a ryzen 5 2600.. and want to upgrade to a ryzen 7 5800x... do i NEED to update bios? Or can i just install the cpu and use it?
Is the process similar if you are using the bios flash button on a newer asrock steel series z690? I’m trying to use a z690 board for my Intel i5-13600k
Thanks for the video! I have already watched the entire video, but just to make sure, i want to ask So now im using the old version of Asrock B450M Steel Legends. I bought it in 2020, it said using P2.10 Version. Im currently using Ryzen 3600, and going to replace with Ryzen 5700X which is now still being delivered. So my question is, looking at the CPU Support List Page, i need to update at least P4.30 BIOS version in order to use Ryzen 5700X (Web said this BIOS version has been validated). Then, can i update straightforward from P2.10 to P4.30? Or maybe can i go for the newest one? Thanks in advance!
look on the list there are a few steps inbetween, that are Mandatory updates so you can skip a few. if you try the newest one it might say it can't read the rom if it is a problem
I have that board and the yellow warnings always put me off, looks like they've at least separated the pink ed from the standard as they were mixed together a year ago. Could you please look at the ram tuning while you have it there? Have a sneaking suspicion you were going to anyway as i see the frequency at 2666 in your bios and you can't be having people think you have poor ram. I did try to adjust it but it just defaults back on restarting and I decided i was too lazy to even google it.
Hi, I've followed all the steps, with same motherboard and obviously should work, but it comes up with 'invalid file' don't know what could be the problem. I was trying to uptate bios, because y got a new M.2 SSD and when I install it, pc stays blocked in bios logo not letting me get into bios and not loading into windows, but when I take off the M.2 SSD it will work as usually and normal.
hey i’m building my first pc soon and i’m wondering if i need a cpu in order to update the bios on this board, or do i require a older cpu first. thanks.
good day mike, i have asrock b450m steel legend mobo i was planning to update my bios do i need to update it 1 by 1 or does the latest bios already include all the latest features??
please help me. what is the best bios for my processor ryzen 3 3100? My motherboard is like this asrock steel legend b450m. I hope you answer me. Thank you!
can you downgrade the BIOS too? I have got the AMD Ryzen 3 3200G that needs P2.30. Not sure if higher versions of the BIOS work well. Thanks in advance.

I currently run a Ryzen 5 2600 and this board (version from late from 2019). I'm still waiting for my 5600 from Amazon. If I update the BIOS right now will it still run and boot?
@@mikesunboxing thank you Mike! I was kinda bothered that I might not be able to use the PC anymore if the bios was updated to the latest version because I've seen some articles online that you might lose backwards compatibility to 2nd gen ryzen if u update a bios supporting 5th gen ryzens
Hello Mike i have a impornatnt question if i have a 5900x new out of the box and same motherboard also new in box will my pc turn it on or i will not let me go to the bios with that proccesor. First of all sry for my bad English. Got this Mainboard yesterday. Cpu Ryzen 2600, 2x8GB DDR4 GSkill 3000mhz, GPU RX 580, PSU Seasonic Focus Gold 550W. I got no Signal. Changed the Dimm Slots from A1 B1 A2 B2, CMOS Reset, try it with 1x8GB Ram, Changed the Graphics Place, Used new Cables, Changed the Ram to Crucial 3000 mhz. No Signal. Used VGA and HDMI Port on Graphics Card no Signal. Removed Graphics Card and Ram and saw what happens ... every 20 - 30 secs Reboot. After Spending over 4 Hours i gave up and today i will sent Back to the Company. On my old MSI B450i Gaming Plus AC All Components are working. Now its hard to Find a Brand New b450 ATX Board. Maybe i should Upgrade to b550 and a Ryzen 5600. But i will Buy from a Vendor in my town. It will Cost like 10 - 20 Dollars more but i dont have Trouble to give it back and waiting 5 up to 10 Days for a Answer.
If I have the regular b450m, the same one you show in this video, but I have the pink edition bios installed (for some reason my technician installed it) can I update to the regular version of the bios? I mean, the one with the gray/black interface. Thanks in advance.
so If I am building a new pc, would I have to get a cpu that works with the motherboards default BIOS, or can I go ahead and put my 5000 series cpu into it, go into the bios and flash the update I've downloaded from another pc? Can I get into the BIOS with the 5000 series cpu in the motherboard with the default (unsupported) BIOS?
Great video thanks Mike! I'm running a Ryzen 5 2600 on this board currently, but want to run a 5600 instead shortly. Do I update the bios to the higher version whilst the 2600 is still seated on the board and then replace the processor with the 5600? Or does the 5600 have to be in place before I attempt to upgrade the bios? Many thanks!
Should i update my bios to beta version of bios like there are two of them 1)10.80 beta and2)8.01 is it safe to update to a beta version or should i go with 8.01
currently running this board with the Ryzen 5 1600AF. Updated BIOS successfully to version 4.6 (the latest) and attempted to install a Ryzen 5 5600. Fans come on, lights come on for about 5 seconds and then reboots repeatedly. Ram appears compatible, and i switched back to my 1600AF and everything operating fine. Currenlty beating my head against a wall and wondering if i got a defective CPU
@@mikesunboxing yes it still shows confirmed. Ended up sending back the 5600 as i never could get it to work and everything works flawlessly with the 1600AF. Will most likely just overclock the 1600 and wait for the AM5 platform toi be more easily available rather than spend money on older components

Hey mike, I got this board last year after my old one melted and I want to update my bios from 3.7 to 4.3 so I can have compatibility with Rtx4000 series however the I am completely unable to update for some reason. I have tried 3 different flash drives. All reformatted but my bios wont flash them. I made sure that I have the b450 steel legend bios updates correct. I am on v3.7 currently and its not even posted on there site. Any clue whats going on?

Hi Mike! I currently have same board with ryzen 5 2600 but with a bios version 2.0. i was wondering if i could update it straight to the latest bios version(4.6 as of now) or should i do an older version. Would my pc stull be working with ryzen 5 2600 with latest bios? I want to update it to install ryzen 5 5600x i recenty bought
i honestly don't know, if you try flashing a bios that is not compatible with your currently installed processor i think it won't allow the flash. I could be wrong on this, i would update to the newest one personally
if my current cpu (r5 2600) isn't compatible with the newest bios version when I do it. Could I still go into the bios to check what bios version I'm currently on or is that not possible
Can i update my bios version from P2.50 to 4.60 ? if i update my bios from 2.50 to 4.60 is there any problem create? Processor ryzen 5 2400g vega 11 graphics
there is a point that asrock say not to go over if using that processor, so you are taking a risk if you do. but many people have done and not had a problem
@@mikesunboxing I send email to asrock then they reply me this "You can still try with the latest BIOS 4.60 as new BIOS optimize memory settings, but we are not able to guarantee the overclocking capability".

im thinking updating bios update for this board. 1 : Currently still using ryzen 1300x, n thinking upgrade to ryzen 5000 series. So can i use same version bios updates as show in ur video ? 2: Once bios update is done, it will not able to boot to windows because the bios update will remove ryzen 1000 support right (if i still not swap the CPU ?) So does it will boot straight to UEFI Menu then once i confirm bios version, force shutdown pc and swap CPU. Correct ?
i'm not sure if it will let you update the bios to a bios that won't support both processors. i had a problem like that and had to use a 3000 series to get 5000 support

I'm trying to find a way to update bios on Z690 steel legend wifi 6e, (first timer) and was wondering if there is a way to flash the bios without a cpu/gpu or monitor or anything hooked up. First build, all new components, but from what I read, youre supposed to flash the bios before installing the CPU. Isn't the CPU the first part of install? I'm really struggling finding Information out there on how to accomplish this. Any help is greatly appreciated!
the board has a bios flash button that works in a similar way to the MSI ones that we have done videos on, you don't need anything other than the BIOS file and a PSU to flash the bios with that
