i have absolutely no words to thank you. i have been battling with my iMac21.5” with every available software, and have spent hours and hours of wasted recordings simply because my sound prefs within garageband often clashes with the mac OS prefs itself. specially if i were to include Bluetooth headphone/mic! you have saved me incredible levels of frustration!
Omg, thank you so much for this. I just bought a Yeti microphone and have a digital piano with a USB-B port that sends Midi. It seems like what you explain in this video will allow the computer to "hear" both simultaneously? Hoping. I need them for recording as well as Zoom lessons. **prays**
Your Yeti or Mac headphone connection will only allow one output at a time, so in order to hear both together, you'd need to use GarageBand or similar DAW
I can't get the channels 3 + 4 to appear. Each device only shows one input where there should be two. I've tried this with two blue snowball mics on os Monterrey and Mojave, and then with the blue snowball and a tonor mic on both operating systems as well.
Great video. I have a question, when I created the aggregate device both my mics fight to get first place, leaving me with 1 mic working and the other...well just there. I guess my question is, would there be any other options than sending my microphones in to have the serial number coded differently? That seems like a overkill. Thanks again
Which type of mic is it? Some USB mics - like the Yeti - simply can't be run as an aggregate device because you can't run two of them on the same device
@@thepodcastmasters thanks for your time. Yeah, two identical mics. The mics are from Dixon (not top quality but good our application), plugged into a macbook air running through logic pro x. I have a workaround for now, I've got two old samsung devices that I plugged otg connectors into. From there I record the audio, mix it on two separate tracks with video inside premiere. Not classy, but it works for now
@@Xshanti86X I did actually. Bit of a laugh. If you have a windows 10 machine. It'll work perfectly fine. If you have a Mac... sell it and get a windows machine. *Lenovo* has no issues from my experience over the last few months. I've tried to reach out to *Apple* numerous times since then. Even after the Catalina update. If I do find something, I'll post the thread here.
Thanks for this video! 🙏🏼I set up my mics (I have two of the same Audio Technica ATR2100s). They are both picking up and recording in Garage Band. The input is fine, the output is wonky! My boyfriend is on the second mic and he CAN hear himself, but he can’t hear me or any playback from a recording. I am on mic #1 and I can hear myself AND him...plus our music & recording playback. What am I missing here? Any help would be much appreciated!!😊
A DAW like GarageBand will only send one stereo output, so if you have your headphones plugged into each ATR, only one of you will hear the entire mix (whichever mic is reading as mic 1). I normally don’t recommend to record without headphones, but if you’re face to face, that is probably the best option
Hi, Do i need to buy a mixer in order to do this on a mac? i am about to pull the trigger on a PreSonus AudioBox iTwo USB Audio Interface. I have two ATR2100 mics. I have a podcast and I really have NO sound tech background.
I do everything that way but still can't get my interface to work - I have a Yeti mic on one usb and the interface on the other. I create the aggregate device but when I go to Logic Pro only the Yeti is working, even after I choose the aggregate device as the input source for the recording
Unfortunately no. Most DAWs will only output a stereo signal 1-2. With this method, the aggregate device has really created 4 outputs. So outs 3-4 won’t be heard. This setup is more of a workaround for USB mics, in most cases we recommend using an actual recording device
My Dilemma is that im trying use the blue yeti as my input for recording and my output for tracking (the built in headphone jack on the button) while using a set of Mackie CR4 Studio Monitors connected to the Focusrite Scarlett Solo for output so that when I record someone they can hear it in the headphones going into the blue yeti and then I can hear them as they are recording nd then unplug the headphones so they can hear the playback of the mixed audio. My question is will this method allow me to use the Blue Yeti for Input and Output and the Focusrite Scarlett Solo for the Output? Only reason Im keeping my Yeti is because if it aint broke don't fix it situation and I get pretty decent recordings for what Im trying to do
Only problem is that a DAW is only going to output to the stereo 1-2. So even if you set up multiple outputs with an aggregate device, Logic or Pro Tools will still only send to 1-2 You either need a monitor switcher like the Mackie, or, create a complicated bus setup in your DAW
So I have a wierd issue. I got two Genesis Radium 600 mics but when they are plugged in only one shows up with 2 inputs and and the other shows up with 2 outhputs - this makes audition not recognize the second mic at all - any ideas?
Thanks for this video. I'm wondering if you have any advice for my issue. When I plug in my microphones, they each only have 1 input channel, so I only end up with inputs 1, 2 and 1&2 instead of all 4. Whereas I notice, you have 2 inputs for each mic. Is there anyway to change the input settings in the Audio Midi set up so that a microphone has two channels? I can't properly set up two mics until I figure this out! Thanks so much!
The ATR should display as a stereo input and output, meaning you’d see Input 1-2 and Output 1-2. For each mic. It shows as stereo, but it’s only one mic so it only has one input
@@heinrichalzo Hey! I never did sort it out :( COVID forced me over to zoom anyways, so it didn't really end up mattering that much because I never got to use both my mics. If you figure it out, let me know!
@@jasminemian1096 Thank you for the reply Jasmine! Hmm, seems to be something complex. I’ll continue the struggle and I’ll let you know when I succeed!
Double check that the input setting for both mics are equal - Preferences > Sound > Input. But, we do not use Audacity, so if it is an issue with Audacity specifically, I'm sorry I can't say for sure
