How to use 3M Di-noc Carbon Fiber Vinyl

Yeah it's pretty fiddly! You need to fold it all over, and cut it right at the end. Be sure not to have any creases in the 1cm overlap.

QwerzDK yeah sorry about that, had an issue on a couple videos with the audio. They came out fine from editing and the Audio issue was fine on my laptop, so I was unaware of the problem. Have sorted it out since, sorry about that

QwerzDK it's a bit fiddly and can be a nightmare depending on what part you want to wrap. Start with something easy to get the feel for it

QwerzDK if you have to use more than one piece, then you can over lap the join, lining up the carbon, then cut through both pieces and you'll have a perfect join. If that makes sense

Dallas Butts Yeah there's a few other options to 3m, it does come in either gloss or mat form. I've found if you go with a cheaper brand, it becomes harder to use, 3m is the way to go

Dallas Butts Yeah definitely not worth spending a few bucks less, as the finished product looks shit. I've only ever used 3m, because as you said the cheaper options look terrible. I'd have like to have gone with real carbon fibre, but that's a tad on the expensive side, and it's more fun to wrap your own bike.

+TheLikeableRider I get almost none of your voice unless I crank volume all the way, then the music kicks in and blows out ear drums. Lots of hissing in vocal portion. Maybe it's RU-vid, but everything else plays normally.

i get your voice track on the left speaker only and music mostly in the right. the music does jump up in volume occasionally. on a side note, could a hairdryer be used, as i don't have a heatgun?

@pinnacle_moto it held for a good 2 years before it started to lift in places. Being the rear tyre hugger it's prone to all the weather and road debris, so held up pretty good.

JBH Motovlogs thanks very much👍 the price for vinyl varies so much much online, and if you get a perfessional to do it, it's pretty expensive!

TheLikeableRider It definitely would be a lot more expensive ofcourse. But I think it would convince people more easily if they saw some actual numbers. Just a small tip ;)

JBH Motovlogs I'll bare it in mind for next time. A piece of vinyl 50cm by 120cm, can vary from 35 euros to up over 100 euros from the hunting around I did, and depending where you order it from. I order from a german company, and tend to order the off cuts, as it's the cheapest way. That works fine if you're just wrapping small items. Becomes a lot more expensive if you need large pieces, you're gonna be paying towards the top end of the scale in that example.

JBH Motovlogs yeah its lasts a good while! I'd imagine if you do a lot of ridding in the rain, maybe not as long, the rear hugger takes a lot of abuse weather wise. If parts do come up a bit, then you can reheat it and stick it back down. Did get a couple of bubbles in summer when left in the sun, but it's easliy sorted.

Yeah thanks Mark saw that! looked into it myself, but also pricey. That also can be done yourself but you need a bit more equipment, doesn't look difficult. I'll stick with wrapping for now, gonna do the front next week

+TheLikeableRider Actually its incredibly difficult to cover complex shapes like the MS, I was surprised. The preparation takes the longest as the surface has to be prepped as if you were painting it.

Surely it's easier than wrapping, once it's prepped you just dip in the tank? Seen a guy do it in his bath, didn't look too hard

+TheLikeableRider Hell no, wrapping is far easier because the wrap will hide imperfections. Dipping requires a perfect surface to work with and then it has to be lacquered after to protect it. I guess it all depends on the grade of finish that you want. The advantage of wrapping is that you can easily remove it and restore the part back to original. I had a BMW M3 wrapped in carbon, looked the bollocks.

It's easy to remove with heat, pretty sure it is UV/petrol resistant, and yes you could use clear paint over it, but there's really no need to, there are many different finishes you can buy

@@NenzelMUSIC for sure the vinyl does half a shelf live! Think on cars you need to think about removing it around the 5 year mark.

Then its just black lose the carbon fibre effect...Need to take the glosswrap then not dry carbon
