How To Use a 60/40 Valve (60% Helium, 40% Air) 

Also, do you guys recommend filling up my ballons with Hydrogen Gas in order for them to float if I can’t find some helium? Thanks, and I’m gonna be waiting for your responses!

Hi Loren, So sorry - we do not sell helium tanks. What area of the country are you in? We can see if we have any connections in your area who could help you out. We do not recommend Hydrogen (flammable) in any balloons - only air or Helium.

Hi Landen, yes, you can blow up foil balloons with the 60/40 valve. Some balloons may have elevation restrictions - like they have a difficult time floating above a certain elevation. In those cases, we recommend 100% helium. If you're using an intricate foil balloon (like a shape), 100% helium would be best as well. The 60/40 is perfect for 18" rounds or similar foil balloons. We only suggest air or helium to fill balloons.

Hi Steven, this information was obtained by the manufacturer: 11" Latex (w/o Hi-Float): 8-12 hours 11" Latex (w/Ultra Hi-Float): 3-10 days 16" Latex: 30+ hours 24" Latex: 2-4 days 30" & 3ft Latex: 3-5 days Float times may vary due to altitude, environmental conditions, and proper balloon sizing. For maximum float time on 11" balloons with a 60/40 mix, it is recommended to use Ultra Hi-Float with the purple restriction clip on the Hi-Float pump.

Hi Bradley - it would depend on your elevation, maybe even the humidity and how long you need it to float. Since this is a 60/40 regulator, if you fill it with 40% air and 60% helium you SHOULD get the same result.

@@LoftusInternational Thankyou for your reply, but I was asking how to calculate this 60/40 ratio. Can I for instance put air in and inflate to 7 inches air then top it off to 11 inches helium. At the time that I needed this I did calculations and put air in of a certain amount with my lagenda then topped it off to another amount with helium.

@@Bradley9967 So we don't have a definitive answer for you, Bradley. Craig (our Balloon Guru) said the 60/40 regulator might mix the air and helium together which would make a difference in filling up the balloon. He wasn't aware of a formula to figure out a manual air/helium ratio and suggested trial & error. Sorry we couldn't be of more help!
