The availability of AED's in the community is noticeable. You will find them in casinos, malls, arenas, and almost any public space where there are large gatherings of people who are at risk of having a cardiac arrest.
The two most common rhythms that lead to cardiac arrest are ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation. If these two rhythms are not detected and managed early, the patient is at risk of cardiac arrest.
The AED is one tool that is utilized with CPR to increase the survival rate of both prehospital and in-hospital patients who are in a dangerous arrhythmia.
While they are designed to be intuitive for use by anyone, a little training will go a long way to building your comfort level.

I love your video. The only edit I would make to this is when you are speaking of medication patches, you should add that the rescuer should have gloves on so the meds are not possibly passed through to the rescuer via absorption through the skin.

That's what I want to do if I aquire one . I will register it with 911 and store in a place where a few people are capable of grabbing it. So that in case it is needed there is low risk of not having it because of theft or other anavailabilities. Unfortunately here AEDs get quickly stolen if they are publically available.

Very goo but you didn't cover the pediatric under- 8 patient . Are they on their right side as well? That would be helpful to know. Please do a part 2.

Great question. Pediatric pads are placed anterior and posterior. I sold off all my CPR gear so I don’t have the tools to do another one :(

Hello, in need of some clarification, if a patient is unconscious, breathing is shallow and has a weak or irregular pulse, can we hook up the aed? Or only in cases where there is no pulse present? I know we can't shock with a pulse, but are we supposed to hook up in the absence of a strong regular pulse while they are unconscious in case it goes into v-fib.
@NurseMinder
@NurseMinder 11 месяцев назад
Great question - if you are in the community and feel unsure, hook up the aed and you will have it ready In the hospital we have patients on monitors so we have our supplies (crash cart) on standby

Good video thanks. If you have a woman unconscious would you cut open the blouse and what about the bra? I am serious as I just attended a CPR/AED course and just recall the shaving for a man. Thanks again
@NurseMinder
@NurseMinder Год назад
Great question. Yes, you would remove the bra and cut through it if you have scissors

Hi nurse. Thanks for the great video! I have some questions.. 1. Can i use aed on pregnant lady? 2. The machine show number 1 button is for on&off button,number 3 button is for shock, so what is number 2 button for? 3. When we can use anterolateral placement pad on adult?
@NurseMinder
@NurseMinder Год назад
Yes you can use on pregnant women, if you are asking about your specific machine - and it has 3 buttons, read the manuel: AL placement can be used anytime - some docs prefer it

Good video but not always find the attitude to be proper and intelligent, jokes and fun should be avoided. Let me edit as per your request and absolutely do not want to be aggressive, not intimidating nor bullying: Good video however your happy attitude it is not hilarious, it does not fit, this is not suppose to be a comedy video, in my opinion, and only my opinion, a person that decides to do a video with instructions on how to save a person life mixing comic attitude is very stupid. So correct the video or ask your friends at work maybe they have seen somebody die and they can advice you better. Other than that the video was good.

This human believes in respectful conversations. Your words are offensive and I give you an opportunity to edit your content to share feedback constructively, or I remove it. I do not tolerate name calling as it is an aggressive form of attempting to intimidate and bully others.

I have seen plenty of death - and do not need people to advise me on the serious nature. I can appreciate that the space and time in which you view the video can affect how you receive the information. I do not appreciate the name calling. If you are not intentionally using the words “stupid” and “idiot”, then you will have no objection to removing them. I try to ensure conversations are respectful

@@NurseMinder Well then show your video to the relatives of those deaths lets see if they agree with you or me. I am going to edit it, not much because I have enough experience of this world, for you he camera and the tube is entertainment, but it should not be so always.
@NurseMinder
@NurseMinder 3 года назад
Thank you for your thoughtful edits. If I did not take saving lives seriously, I would have never made the video. There is much to learn here and if you can share what you found offensive - i.e, the time of the joke, or the content, I would be happy to review it

You’re weird as hell for making this comment. Comedy is the best way to learn new skills & she successfully prepared me on how to use the defibrillator. If you know anything about medicine, you’d know that the use of comedy and an upbeat attitude is one of the most successful ways in teaching topics.
