Devvon, you're honestly the best instructor on youtube man. You articulate exactly why you're doing, what you're doing and you do it very well. Thanks for the knowledge bro.
Dude I’ve been obsessively browsing RU-vid for mixing and mastering tutorials you’re literally arguably the best channel. You’re incredibly to the point and clear and your actual music backs up that you know what you’re talking about (cuz it’s good af).
Thanks for this one! it really made the concept of release and attack for a limiter more straight forward. Now I have no idea why I didnt understand it! Thanks again!
No lie bro, I've looked at channels upon channel for engineering mentorship. Your experience, vernacular, and consistency gas definitely aligned me to be that much closer to "industry standard" music for myself and friends. I thank you. Sincerely. - Nad.
You are my top 3 in youtube production/mixing tutorials, i've been watching for a minute man and you make fire music too, I produce as well and hopefully we could work one day!
Great information ,kinda new to the mixing of audio ,I notice my tracks don't sound powerful enough and rather thin ,I would like for them to sound more polished and professional ,what am I doing incorrectly .Thanks again for your insight .
Cool video Bruh! But I'm a bit confused. At 3:02 you say limiting is bring the loudest sound and the quietest sound together. Isn't that what compression does? I thought limiting was limiting the peaks of frequencies. Am I missing something? Thanks.
I like how you don't advertise yourself just given game and knowledge. but Im definitely sub. and bro you sound like usher like fr fr. where do I find your music its nice to hear something else other than trap. prob why 90-2000 was so good lol
Help me Devvon, I recently started using PRO TOOLS 12.5 and I have discovered that when importing vocals that were recorded in a different Daw into PT they come in as stereo and if you create a mono track they coming in 2 tracks (left and right) track I Want to know how to import mone vocals for other Daw into pro tools to have a single Mono track Your reply would be highly appreciated 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Here's how I did it and wanted to share with you guys. Use the limiter during mixing. I'm sure the tutorials have helped you. At the end of the Mixing process, select all tracks and fade it downwards to the point where the limiter doesn't catch a transient or sound perhaps through a limiter signal alerting a sound or part of your mix that it has detected. You want it to not detect. Then go to your Master Track where the limiter is and fade it down between -6db and -9db to get it for Mastering assuming you are aware of which plugin chain goes first to last. You can put your take on it. As people of intellect of the human race, I'm sure you will figure it out. Wish you guys well and thank you Help me Devon for allowing this comment.
hey devvon, i know this is an old video but i remember coming across a video of yours saying that you mix into a limiter and had a question on how you utilize it. do you turn up the gain on the pro-l before mixing into it or do you a rough mix first and then start pulling the gain up? and also, how much do you turn the gain up typically? im using logic pro x and im starting up my mix with the kick, snare and vocals (as taught in your tutorial) but i cant mix into the pro-l getting the typical -8 rms range (for master referencing) without clipping/destroying the sound. the peaks of my drums are only hitting -12/-13db. could it be that im parallel compressing it too heavy? i just couldnt achieve the loudness i wanted to reference without destroying the sound completely and am going crazy trying to figure out what i might be doing wrong. i was trying to look for the video where you showed a quick peek of it but i couldn't find it and also cant remember which video it was LOL. youre the best man!
What up I got a question bro. I know u have said u like to use Waves Nls plug-in before. I was wondering if I use auto tune , do I then use nls channel right after or how would u go about that?
Please could I have a question? Should I use this limiter only on MASTER OUTPUT? Or is it good decision to have it on every lets say BUS? (Vocal BUS, DRUM BUS) to be sure nothing treathens each other? I mean in my mix there is often a situation, where f.e. 808 is threating other signals, or other example, reverbs and delays on my vocals have "no room" because of other instruments. Is this a solution? Sry 4 my English, hope its understandable
