Martingale dog collars are a collar that can stop your dog from escaping and are a useful tool for dog owners. How to use a Martingale Collar is easy as Alex demonstrates in this video.
Martingale collars are inexpensive and are a must for sighthound breeds.
Although some believe the Martingale Collar is good for dogs that pull when on the lead, the thinking around this has changed by many dog training experts. What a Martingale is used for primarily now is to stop dogs escaping.
They also give the owner better control when walking their dog.

I was looking for a video that discussed Martingales to show to a friend. This one is the most accurate one I've found that talks about fit. Thank you! This is my favorite kind of collar and when used correctly, it's a fantastic resource for helping prevent pulling. I like them especially for bully breeds, who have a wide neck and narrow skull just like sighthounds. My husky can slip collars easily and when I'm using a collar only, I prefer a martingale for her for the reasons stated in the video! I also like that you discussed the hazards of them, as the other videos I looked at did not.

I have two Boston Terriers, one has a thick neck and the other has a small head 😂 collars always come off over their heads 😂 I'm definitely getting them martingale collars

In other videos they use the martindale for correction from pulling. Why didn’t you mention that or how to do it?

It's pretty simple, pull them back sharply every single time they pull. Your do will walk by your side within 10 mins.

I think your supposed to give a sharp pull to the side rather than pull back. The side ways pull the dogs don’t like so they won’t keeping doing something they don’t like

I've signed my 6mth old cavapoo up for basic obedience training. The instructor uses the choke collar method, which I do not want to follow (I can't back out since i've made full payment.) Thinking of using a martingale collar instead of a choke. Anyone has tips/suggestions?

We harness walk our issue is when he goes out to pee that’s when our 7 year old golden will slip out of his collar and run any suggestions for that

Yes you can do that too. Just have the correct collar attached to the leash at the desired time. If you keep a regular flat collar on your dog.

If you're able to slide a normal collar over your dogs head that easily, you've definitely fitted it wrong. My dog can't get out of her collar and I'm able to slip two fingers between the collar and her neck.

There are dogs with small heads and especially longhaired breeds can escape if they really wanted to (e.g. on some scary sound).

@@_--____--______--___ Think doberman, rather than Labrador / spaniel. Their heads are narrow, their necks taper. So a flat collar that fits accurately behind their ears isn’t a comfortable or practical all-day wear.
