Slow start, but the advice in regards to trying to overcome the gag reflex was valuable. Got myself a Zink call, and the lack of instructions is going to lead to an interesting afternoon, or just a box call.
I just bought the three set of calls with the cd. I have never had a call in my mouth before. I just arrived home to our new house in an Auburn, Alabama suburban development about 5 miles from Auburn University. I was backed into one of our house driveways facing the street. I decided to try the turkey call before going into the house. It was dark outside at 7:30 pm. The instructional cd just mentioned that the call could be used as a predator call and sometimes coyotes will show up when calling turkeys. Well sure as shit, I no sooner am practicing the "Hi-Lo" call and right in front of me, a coyote comes trotting out from behind my neighbors mailbox monument across the street. I had been sitting in my driveway for no more than 5 minutes just learning how to work the call and this coyote comes snooping around and as I do the call again he stares right at me. I was in the my pick-up with the windows up on a dark noght. I shined him with my headlights and he beat feat. Coyotes are nothing unusual to me as for the past 30 years prior to recently moving to Alabama, we owned a ranch home in the foothills above the Mojave Desert. The coyotes were so thick, sometimes I would literally run at a pack of them to get them off my property. Often, late at night, I would go outside on a cold winter night and take a leak and they would yelp and howl throughout our little valley communicating from one pack to the other. Since I am now out of California, I am going to start hunting again. Hunting became such a pain in the ass in California. Holy shit, the Soviet Union is not as bad as Commiefornia.
@@Azariel98 Thank you. I met some good guys in a Christian Hunting group. One of the guys let me hunt on his timber property and I bagged a doe with my bow the a week before gun season opened on the 20th. I will be happy to get either another doe or buck before Christmas and put more meat in the freezer.
