Hi thanks so much for your comment, hopefully this reply finds that you did manage to test the thermostat. Did you do the multimeter test, and did you need to replace the thermostat?

Hi, I have an elderly relative whose free standing Zanussi fan oven is overheating and the oven will cut out. Approximately 8-10 minutes afterwards, the oven will turn itself back on and cook for another 10 minutes or so, then it will cut out again. If you open the oven door after the oven has turned itself off due to overheating, the oven will obviously cool down much quicker, so if you then shut the oven door again, the oven will turn itself back on. Could this overheating and cut out be due to a faulty thermostat? Or something else? Can you test for overheating cut out with a multimeter? I've never used a multimeter, but do know someone who could lend me one. Thanks
