Is a slicker brush gonna cut my dogs skin?( She's a maltese)

@@nazalinemonterroso5580 personally I test a slicker on my skin lightly before I buy it. Chris’ brushes tend to be soft and the bristles fairly well rounded. The technique for brushing is more of a pat and lift instead of a hard drag. I work small sections slowly lifting hair, it is called line brushing. Than I go behind where I brushed with a comb to catch any hidden tangles. You never want to use a scraping motion with a slicker areas like the rear of legs and tummy is tender so use very light strokes.

@@LeadingEdgeDogShowAcademy amazing!! Thank you so much for the advice! I love your grooming videos. I've never had a dog with a double coat before so I want to make sure I get the best for my baby! I also want to control all the fur and shedding as much as possible 😅. Would you agree with brushing your dog everyday? Or every other day? Can you ever "over-brush" a long haired dog? I just don't know if brushing everyday will irritate their skin? But then I think of we humans brush our hair at least twice a day so that could be the same for dogs too right? Maybe it's a silly question😅

@@ceemc859 Hello I do agree it can be confusing, but if you are brushing properly (remember to never brush dry coat always lightly mist it) and using the correct tools and techniques I do not think you can over brush. Some people even say regular brushing increases coat growth which I do bath my double coated dogs twice as much during coat change to encourage new growth, so the brushing analogy makes sense to me. They have brush cleaning brushed on amazon, I personally use a boar bristle brush to clean mine. Boar bristle brushes are amazing!
