Learn how to use a string trimmer, also knoI wn as a weed eater or weed wacker. I discuss and demonstrate (most) 10 different skills with a trimmer including edging a sidewalk, ,edging a flower bed and a tree ring. I also show how to cut large areas. Then I show how to do a few gray area uses of the trimmer such as blowing off clippings, trimming hedges, defending against wasps and removing tire marks from the driveway. Hopefully you will gain some valuable tips and improve your skills as a string trimmer master.

You strike me as one of those rare guys who: 1. Knows what he's doing to the point where he can explain it simply. 2. Is definitely not afraid to work, and probably inspires others on the crew to work hard and do a good job as well. 3. Takes pride in a job well done. Thanks for the video!

@@9LivesNoHate I said "it's hard to find" so while you should always be proud of yourself as a "young worker" you're being very biased in thinking "young workers" are everywhere 😂 I literally turned 27 today well yesterday since it's almost 3am so I'm technically young still lol, and I see it daily where "young people" do NOT want to work. They slack off ALOT, skip important parts to try to make shit easier and they will not listen for the life of them. They also think they can get a job, work 2-3 days then quit. They think it's normal I guess. But to me, they are just losers 😂 if you have done what you say then congrats you may not be one and you should be proud. But don't say I haven't looked because it's very easy to see that these last couple generations have terrible work ethic, and also think they can just say "sorry" and "I didn't know that" like it's gonna help them. 1. It won't and 2. Take responsibility. This may be a long comment but it's all truth. It's very hard to find. I'm a female, I work hard and try to learn daily from what I do. My wife is a VERY hard worker and it's one of the things I find most attractive about her. Work ethic is hard to find when all people wanna do is get free things in life.... :)

@scorpiodoll1101 battery powered trimmers/weedeaters are really good for home use, just not great for a lot of commercial use due to you needing to wait for a batteries to charge after they run out, and spare batteries can cost $100+. Tho they last long enough to cut 1 large home. And they're def lighter

I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use ru-vid.comUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.

When doing lawn edging with a trimmer pay attention to where the fuel tank is located. If you don't have a full tank of fuel or you tilt the machine in the wrong direction you will end up with the pickup line in the tank out of the fuel level. The grass trimmer is in my opinion probably the one biggest addition to doing lawns and I have been at it for 76 years. When I started all we had was the muscle building hand trimmer.

Edging with a string trimmer has proven to be the most useful skill for as long as I have been doing lawn care. The very first edge of the year will always be done with a blade, but a string trimmer thereafter. The amount of time one will save by not having to pick up/put away an additional tool (the edger) will mean more money in your pocket. Another skill I have found invaluable is the ability to trim in such a way that I can determine which direction the trimmed debris will go. This skill will help keep areas that need to be debris-free, clean.

One thing I always do for the higher end and comertial customers is float the edges. It makes for a real sharp manicured looking edge. I also use a string trimmer for most edging except for the early spring deep edge. Of course I've been doin lawn maintenance and landscapes for 40 years. Started as dad's helper. By time I was 10 I could handle that trimmer better than most people. A good trimmer man is very hard to find. I actually think women do better as they are detail oriented. Good video.

I love how he doesn't tilt the weed Wacker much. As a beginner, I find myself pushing the string trimmer towards a surface and/or weed and tilting it at different angles to get a sense of hitting the weed so my string snaps often and I have to bump it. In this vid Dan didn't change his string once. Dan handles the trimmer very neutrally and only let's the tip of the string work and flat edges when need be.

Well said, the manufacturer designed the machine for the operators protection and the property owners protection too. The extra stress on the longer cutting path is hard own the drive train on the clutch and the cable etc. Unti the cutter head.

Thank you for the video! I love mowing, and always wanted to use a string trimmer cause it cleans up everything nicely, but didn't know how to use and a little fearful of it. I'm excited to try it out after watching your video
