I'm not sure why anyone would thumbs down this video- It's one of the best out there to help figure out the old Brother sewing machines, and definitely more helpful than the instruction manual! Thank you!
Thank goodness there's people in the world like you Bibi. I have my grandmother's old machine. She had passed many years ago when I was young and it recently came into my possession. I never got the chance to sit with her to teach me. Now I can, and can pass those skills on to my daughters. Iam so looking forward to keeping her legacy alive with my future creations. I cant thank you enough
Thanks! I have a different model vintage machine so this video didn't answer all my questions but it definitely helped me start unraveling the mystery of what the heck to do with this big heavy bulk of steel and knobs!
@@dyslexicdarling898 . :) vintage sewing machine are all similar. I still have a couple of machines that work slightly different and I need to get the time to make the video for you guys. x
This tutorial has been very useful as it appears that this machine is very similar to the Lemair 933 machine that we recently got asked to have a look at by friends who had it passed down by a couple of generations. The main secret appears which way to thread the needle and once we did this as per your instructions, it sewed pretty good. We're happy that we were able to basically do a home service on it and now our friends are happy.
Thank you so so much Bibi!!! I just found the old sewing machine of my mother in law who past away last year and I could use it because of your video!!!! Thank you so much. Luzma from Lombardia, Italy
@@BibiCameron I came back again Bibi! 😂 there’s something It doesn’t work with my machine, I think is the needle I’m using. Thank you again for post this video! ☺️ Where you come from Bibi?
This was the most clear and helpful video on this topic. I watched several, but I only could get it done and fully understand with this video. Thank you so much!
My mom just gave me her old machine from the 90s, which doesn't have a manual and is half busted, but I'm looking forward to fiddling with it and learning how to sew! Thank you for your demonstration :)
thank you SO MUCH fo this video!! i just got my step mom's old sewing machine and have never used any sewing machine before, so this was TREMENDOUSLY helpful!!
Thanks! We have a vintage Pinnock Craftmatic sewing machine (MK II Model WM5) that we inherited from my great great grandmother, and had no idea how to use it. Whilst this is a different model, it looks very similar and helped me figure out how to use it (we couldn't find its manual and there's not one online for it). I had absolutely no clue how to get to the bobbin or how to thread it, and now I've got it all figured out. I can't wait to make something with this machine!
Thank you so much for this video! I just bought a vintage sewing machine and It did not come with a manual and I would have been lost without your video. It helped me get know my machine a lot better! And in twenty short minutes my machine was running and sewing with no issues!
Oh my god Bibi u have just told me where the back stitch button on my machine is. I've been asking in forums everywhere for this machine and u even sent me a manual for a similar machine last yr to try help but it didn't have the same set up. I never knew that was a button on the stitch length. Thank you Thank you Thank you your a 🌟 xxx
Thank you Bibi for such a useful, informative and clear video. It has really helped me understand more about my Mum's old Lemair machine that she recently gave me.
This was so helpful! I've been sewing for a while but I just acquired a vintage Elgin 2468 and couldn't find a video on how to thread it. Thank you for taking the time to make this awesome video. Muchas gracias!
Thank you 🙏 I am not a sewer and your instructors meant I could use this beautiful old restored machine I bought. I had no idea they sewed so beautifully. I’m very grateful!
Thank you so much! I have a brother galaxie 221, so it's very similar to this. Your video really helped me a lot, and as soon as I get used to this machine I plan on starting to sew again! Again, thanks for this video!
Thank you for this video. I've just picked up a Universal Brother machine, different to this one, but similar enough. I can't find an owners manual online for it, so this video helped me get the basics. Thank you again
Thank you so much! I just started sewing and my mom told me I could use her old sewing machine - although neither of us knew how it worked. You helped me out! Can't wait to start sewing. (:
all takes a bit of practice but sewing is very easy and rewarding.. trust me. if the thread get stock is not because the machine is damaged is because we forgot to make something right when threading it . :)
Thank you Bibi, you have saved me once again! Every time I need to thread my vintage Brother Galaxie 221, I look up your video and we thread my machine together! Thank you!
Thank you very much for the time you dedicated to show to us how this machine works. Actually for me this sewing machine is not so old! because I have learn to sew in a really old Singer machine! Scotland is beautiful! MAV from Mexico
Thank you so much. I just got a slightly older model for free, but your explanations worked like a charm. Aside from a burnt out light bulb, it worked like a charm. I've worn through two newer, cheaper sewing machines in recent years, but this one was build before I was born, and is still working like a champ. Thanks for showing me how to use it.
Thankkkkkkkk Youuuuuuuuuu so much-- I was given an old Brother Charger 622-- was seized solid-- so I oiled and left for a week-- this was so very helpful-- you are my new favorite person!!!!! love and light -- Kimber!!!
Hi Bibi Many thanks for this video, I am a complete beginner at sewing. I used your video to get set up on my mothers 40 year old sewing machine, I couldn't have done it without your video! Thanks LC
Wonderful tutorial. I can not help but say, I absolutely love your accent. The instructions coupled with your gracious accent, served to keep me interested. I came away wiser about the use of my Nelco.
I just found my mom's old sewing machine, it's a lot similar, only it has more stitch and embroidery types but everything else is the same. I learned to sew with that as a kid but my mom set it up for me back then. This video helped me so much, now I can start sewing again, thank you!
This was so very helpful. Your voice was soothing also. My mother is giving me my Grandmother's machine and I was a little scared but I think I can do it now after seeing this. Thanks a lot.
Thank you so much for this video. I found a model 851 much like this one. Your tip to switch the needle foot and plate to wide probably saved me a needle! :)
I am so grateful for your video. It's extremely similar to my Lomain vintage sewing machine and I was about to buy a new machine because I couldn't get the tension right ever! I was missing one of the section to thread through and I thought the 2 silver buttons on the face were just there for this model because the next level machine would have a control there. Now I know it's to keep the stitch width lever in place. Thank you I am so appreciative! You've saved me money and throwing out this lovely machine. I wish I could like this video 10 times!
I'm pretty sure what you have is a Lemair Helvetia sewing machine, the Americana font badge looks a lot like Lomain. Lemair Helvetia imported sewing machines, mostly Brothers, and rebadged them for the Australian market. They had a Lemair model 345 for which I have the user guide if you're interested. lemaire-sewing.fandom.com/wiki/Le_345
Thank you so much, I just got learned how to sew and am using my passed away aunt's sewing machine because I have so many memories with her and it's old too, it's not brother sewing machine it called Brico or Brigo am not so sure 😁 but it has the same options. You helped me a lot understanding how to use it.
Muchas gracias. Mi maquina es brother charger 651 y no encontraba el manual para aprender a usarla. Pero tu video me ayudó mucho tienen las mismas características. Muchas Gracias.
Bibi Cameron I would like to ask what size needle do you use on this machine my vintage Brother model 151 is similar and respects to this machine my wife purchased at Universal needle set would that work or is that for the modern machines thank you so much
I’m so happy there’s this tutorial because I’ve just found my grandmas German sewing machine from over 40 years ago and can’t understand a word of the manual
Fantastic tutorial thank you so much for this video, I have just bought a jones sewing machine this video has helped me so much, it has also given me confidence. This means I can practice & learn properly [I can use it has a sewing machine instead of it being ornament] Thanks again yours most sincerely John
Alexandria Watson I'm so happy to know this video is helpful ! Trust me it is not hard to understand these machines but we defo need to spent time learning small silly things to have a happy sewing experience . Hugs . X Bibi
Thank you soo much for this video!!! My machine is similar to yours_i think it's older though. It didn't come with a manual and I've been looking everywhere for a manual. So now I have the zeal to go on. Thanks again :)
This machine is very similar to a Brother Pacesetter XL 721 so one can use much of the information here ( like threading the machine) for it. Thank you very much, because I have no manual.
this is THE best tutorial i’ve ever seen. absolutely wonderful. thank you for explaining WHY we do this the way we do. it has helped me immensely ❤️❤️❤️
Yes thank you so so much. You are the only one that has explained all those knob and levers that do not have labels lol thanks so much. Using a 1960s janome
Henry DeVilliers help cousin it is funny that you are watching my old videos . . Yes, it also brings memories of my aunts Rosalba. The ladies in the family or beautiful and talented :) sending hugs and thanks . X
Thank you very much for posting this video. I have this exact machine, even the colour is the same! It's going to help me get more from this fantastic machine. It's a shame they don't make them like that now. Kind Regards from North Wales UK - PS I too buy from Helen - spares, she's a great source of parts and information.
This was super useful Even though I have a different kind this really helped. I recently started wanting to learn how to use the sewing machine I got from my grandmother
Had mine from my grandmother as well, it’s worth every second of investment! Learning is fun and you’ll be amazed at just how patient you’ll become in other aspects of your life haha
