I got mine for $20 at a rummage sale. I've always sewn on my inherited 221, so I gave my new machine little attention. My featherweight has a plate to cover the feed dogs when I make buttonholes, so learning from this video that I can lower the feed dogs on my new girl just increased her value! BTW--I'm watching in 2024

I started sewing on my Grannie's ancient treadle machine. And can still (I'm nearly 70) run just about an non-computerized machine out there! And to be honest? Nearly all the machines manufactured in the last 40 years, were purposely engineered to NOT LAST! Those cheap plastic cases, enclosing cheaper plastic/nylon gears? Most will be stone dead before 10 years has passed. Give me an ALL METAL, PRE-1960 machine any time. I'm all ways on the look out for a great Classic or Vintage machine. We put then in Tip-Top shape, and get them into a good home where Mom/Dad knows the value of having something that will just "keep on a chugging", come what may!

I have a regular singer, then a cobblers or leather singer, and now i just fixed my portuguese grandmothers singer same model as on here now it was was threaded at shop after repair and of course the thread came out on ride home here to get tips on setting it back up

I bought 2 of these and a blue clone DeLuxe “dressmaker” machine, 1940-50s era. I absolutely LOVE them, best sewing machines I’ve ever owned. Do U have any suggestions for restoring or recovering the cases? One is falling apart, handles broken, water stains, etc. They just stay in the home, but do they need dust cover? The wood is not substantial for such a heavy machine. Should I bother with restoring covers and base? Loving your channel.

mine is AD etc so older than yours

I have the opportunity to purchase an AD, I believe it’s 1934. What do you use it for? Do you recommend it? Is there anything it struggles with? Any tips or tricks?

@@KeptForJesus I used my modern singer to sew on a patch. i have cobblers singer for making medicine bags, my grandmums ad i have not used yet, I just scored a serger superlock 534 gonna try it out
