I’m learning to sew and working on matching patterns on the fabric. The walking foot has been really helpful to use because the fabric stays where want it. It didn’t come with my machine (not a Babylock), but was really worth the investment.

Thank you for this tutorial. Quick question; do you have to keep the stitch length at a specific number when using the walking foot attachment? From the video it looks like the engagement dogs move back the same distance at the walking foot presser so that makes me wonder if you can adjust the stitch length when using the walking foot.

Thanks for this video . I tried th walking foot for the first time yesterday and I was so disappointed . I got the open toe one as I could not find the closed one . I mainly need it for stretchy fabrics , satins and velvet either stretchy or non stretch . I am having hard time stitching straight with a normal presser foot so i thought I should try the walking foot but i don’t see much difference which really frustrates me . Am I doing something wrong ?
@AnitabyDesign
@AnitabyDesign 2 года назад
Hi Athey. If you're have trouble stitching a straight line with an all purpose foot, trying different feet won't solve the problem. Things to consider: 1. Are you using something as a focal point (seam lines on machine, magnetic attachment for seams, painter's tape)? You need to use something to align your fabric with as you sew to make sure you're sewing a straight line. 2. Are you looking at the needle while sewing? If you're focusing on the needle, you will never get a straight line. Establish a focal point and keep the right edge of your fabric running along that focal point as you sew. 3. Check the presser foot tension. If the tension on your presser foot is too heavy, it will pull the fabric to the left, making it hard to sew a straight line. If all of these are in order, then I suggest just practicing over and over again until you can sew straight.
@athey92
@athey92 2 года назад
@@AnitabyDesign thanks so much for this detailed answer. I do all of that but I will also check my presser foot’s tension. That might be a problem . I am self taught so sometimes I don’t know if I do things right ,But thanks for taking the time to give me those tips
