About 20 years ago my wife, daughter, and I were looking on the map for a way around Las Vegas. I turned off the road to Valley of Fire. We arrived there after dark (apparently it was ok then) and camped for the night. The desert was illuminated by the moon. The next morning I was astonished by the beauty around me. The light was fantastic. I have been hoping to go back there again. Thanks for the inspiration, Adam!

Have really enjoyed your visit to VOF, I made a short trip there a couple of years ago. It was great hearing you and Nick both mention how difficult it is to photographic there, as I found it very challenging. Found the CCC cabins to be a great spot, but very hard to photograph, but totally worth it. Like you, I hope to get back and visit again. And as you said, camping there since the park closes at sunset and opens at sunrise, great tip.

Adam, I appreciate this video and I love your compositions. Thank you for showing your RAW and processed shots, it is very helpful. I was there last year and while it is a truly gorgeous place to behold, it is rather difficult to shoot. Being a photography enthusiast, I thought it was just me having a difficult time finding compositions. I feel so validated hearing you, Thomas Heaton, and Nick Page also state that it is challenging. I just purchased the Nikon F/4 16-35mm lens so I love seeing how you are using it there. Thanks again!

Gorgeous shots! I love the soft light. I also like the 35mm version filling up the sky. As for the rocks with the valley background, I'm glad to see the strobes in the background didn't significantly interfere in the raw image, even at 1.6 seconds.

Adam. Thanks to the f4 gang, a friend and I left Tacoma a couple of days ago to go to this park. Damn. I didn't even know it existed until you tipped me off. Whoa! What a place! We left Death Valley after our own blizzard and headed directly to the Valley of Fire. Hell! It's remarkable and astounding in every way. Now the Spring greens of the desert plants are something I've never seen. The colors are glowingly surreal because we are further into the season. The cerulean blues are nutty! You need to return. Colors unlike anything I've ever seen! No gear. Just some phone snaps, but it was a terrific way to escape the Apocalypse madness for a bit, especially in a place I didn't even realize was there. Your vlogs are inspired, fun, hugely informative and bring a smile to thousands. Thanks for posting them. They are a bright spot for everyone.

Another great video of the never ending adventures. VOF is one of my favorite places as I have mentioned before, though with the beauty everywhere it can be hard to get the perfect picture and composition. Fantastic photos for sure and so glad that you did show the Big Horn, very majestic creatures for sure. Agree about camping there, though be aware it is first come first serve for most and though there is some RV hook up sites, still first come first serve (20 for tent-30 for hook-up), exception is if cycling which they will go out of their way to find a spot for cyclist. Plan to be there on the way back from the Outsider Conference in March.

Oh, here is the video again 😅 Thanks a lot for these tips ❤️🙏🏻, I don't think there is an authorised photographer more than you to talk about compositions. Who uses a wide angle lens knows how hard and challenging it can be taking a decent composition with it, I really struggle sometimes with my 10mm lens (15mm Full-frame)

Seeing you photograph the area in great morning light made me jealous. When I traveled through the area on my way to Zion I was stuck in mid-day light and 105 degree heat. It was so brutal I had to hop in and out of the air conditioned rental looking for compositions because it was too hot to hike. After seeing this definitely inspires me to want to go back.

Good tip on camping in Valley of Fire, because our rig is too big for the park I boondocked up the road and drove in. However, I talked to a ranger who must have had a soft spot for me and allowed me to come a half hour before sunrise. Otherwise they are very strict, don't get caught sneaking in! Great video. You can still access the park. There is a drop box with envelopes that you can place the $10 fee into and detach a receipt to hang from your review mirror. I went twice this weekend. And yes I was the one that used $5 in quarters (if anyone from the park service is watching) and I’m really sorry about that 😬 . I had forgotten about the fee. But keep in mind that certain areas of the park are not accessible until sunrise otherwise it’s a trespassing charge. Anyway I really like your work and is truly inspirational. You guys are the reason I’m rediscovering the valley of fire again!

brian mcfarlane Actually the animal in the photo is a Bighorn Sheep. There are small groups that roam the park. Pretty astonishing to see them scale some pretty steep slopes. This state park is fabulous for photography: rocks, critters, birds, plants & colors. The visitor center has some adorable Antelope Ground Squirrels and Gambol’s quail that often come around the bird feeders behind the buildings.

Very nice images. I do love the Valley of Fire and was frustrated that I couldn't get in at those prime light times without camping. Red Rock Canyon to the west of Las Vegas is the same way, although there are ways to get around that there. The park gates are so far removed from the best spots that you can't park and hike in early. Nevada has had a lot of problems with park vandalism so I do understand their policy.

I live in a part of Arizona than you and the entourage ( Thomas, Nick, Greg) are probably not aware of: AZ Southeast east and below Tucson, at elevation... home of Cochise's Stronghold, the Chiricahua National Monument, and our Sky Islands..... Also a beautiful part of the American Southwest. Again, thanks for the inspiration, and if you decide to come back to the area, I'd love to buy you a beer!
