My wife bought a wrist one and she showed me to use it the other way. Well I knew my B.P. wasn't 187over 98. So I checked out your tutorial. Thank you. Now I'm at 127/80 at 68 yrs. Also I get to teach her something she didn't know which will be a joy.
Thank you so much! I lost the instructions to my wrist monitor so I have been putting it on the wrong way. Sooo much anxiety over the very high readings! So high I thought maybe I should go to the ER. Then is saw your video abd put it on correctly. The numbers changed substantially. I will triple check for accuracy. Subscribed.
I always find your tips so helpful so a big THANK you!! I had just bought A3 Wrist Monitor and I was wondering the best way to get accurate readings...... Again thanks for you breathing tips. please keep on posting as you are helping so many people like me to manage the condition!!!!!
Using the cuff is very painful, so much so that I occasionally bruise. Having the option of the wrist monitor is wonderful, especially now that I know how to position it correctly.
Mine is constantly high doctor has me on generic medication I take every day I have stage 2Hypertintion blood pressure how often should I take pressure and do I need to take a certain brand of blood pressure pills instead of generic
I really enjoyed your video on the wrist monitor. I have the.Omron 6100 which doesn’t have the heart level indicator, and I was wondering if I can use it the way you used it in your video, by putting it against my chest, even though it doesn’t say to do it that way in the manual. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you so much, Peter.
I am 29, 165 lbs. when I visit the doctor my BP sits around 153-83. At home it is about 140-80. I believed I’m in stage one from chronic stress and drug abuse. I have been sober now for 5 years but struggle still with blood pressure. I know I should exercise more but I am very active at work. I also eat fairly well. I am also taking magnesium supplements and things to try and get all my nutrients. Is there a timeline of how fast one can fix the pressure ? Is there a possibility I have permanently damaged my body to where I now need med ? I’m so terrified of taking blood pressure meds !!!
I drink two double latte's every day. day after day. But I'm thinking of getting a wrist type. my BP is ok, 125/90 ish. I do temper the latte... with some single malt. not often.
Thank you for explaining I put the cuff near my thumb and got an error.message. Over the radial got an accurate message though. Also wondering why the left hand offers greater accuracy. Much appreciated
I assume that different cuffs are designed to be placed differently. Mine specifically is designed for the monitor to sit on the inside of my wrist. It doesn't fit the way he showed so I can't follow these instructions. The general tips are helpful though.
The positioning on the wrist is a little misleading. The one I have says the display should be facing you with your palm facing up not inline with your thumb like you say.
Why do the instructions on my BP cuff advise I lean my left elbow on my desk at my heart level,, and keep the machine flush with the bottom of my wrist, not aligned with my thumb? When I measure my BP the way instructions advise I get normal readings, but when I measure the way you show in this video I get abnormal readings. Any advice?
To find out, go to a drugstore with a blood pressure chair and take a reading. Then take 2 readings with your own cuff, following the 2 sets of instructions and compare to the machine. If you can do this on your doctor's office, so much the better. I would expect that the ones that came with the machine are accurate.
This tutorial has it leaning toward the thumb bone. My omcron has the screen flat against the inside of the wrist, not off to the side as in this video. I assume it varies according to the model
i have left side hemiparesis from stroke. my left arm isnt really paralyzed so much as doesnt work right from spasticity. i was and am right handed. my question is this: is the left arm still the better arm for accurate blood pressure? should i do right instead? i just got an at home monitor so this has recently become more of a concern. Thank you!
They are probably taking it without you relaxing first. Seems intentional to me. Every body is different- if you are a runner your BP would be lower than someone who moderately exercises, as well as non excerciser. The industry is continuing to lower what they deme as normal range. It's all about money and Pharma Blood pressure is suppose to fluctuate throughout the day. Most of the time a person is mineral deficient. Get your minerals they regulate your complete nervous system. Do you feel jittery, nervous, brain fog, confusion, anxiousness, sadness, constipation...Mineral Deficient = Dehydration
When you say it’s less accurate, is it consistently lower, consistently higher, or is it inconsistently incorrect (sometimes higher, sometimes lower, or the ratio different)? If it’s consistent, it could be “calibrated” to a regular monitor, but if it’s inconsistent, it’s probably not that useful. It would be nice to have one that didn’t hurt though.
I can't predict with accuracy the inaccuracy of a machine unfortunately. They don't hurt though. Thanks for watching and subscribing. Sorry I can't answer it. It's a good question though.
It very difficult for me to find a blood monitor to place on my upper arm because I have been a bodybuilder aficionado for many years and I don't have a really big arm 17".5 inches even some Drs don't have the right monitor to check my blood in the arm.
I have one like that and I put in new batteries and The Big E . Is there a reset button? I sold it on OfferUp that's what they told me they want a refund.
maybe, maybe not. Please make sure that your machine should be placed as he describes here. Most do not! Every machine should have an illustration on it of proper placement. Do not put it sideways on the bone like this unless you have the same model seen here.
It's puting your wrist across your chest to get closer to your heart. These days health sciences and technology has advanced. Some of these wrist monitors are good to use.
Serious question. I suffer from high blood pressure. It’s high at rest but if I do any kind of exercise, not strenuous, it absolutely rockets. I’m 57 and prior to becoming Ill had been super sporty and fit. Why is it only to register resting and not also going for a very leisurely walk please
I find that my diastolic number lately has been low. 98/39, 100/44 . Should I have any concerns. I take generic Plavix. I have one heart Stent. Thank you
Adam J. Story, DC I mean, I saw that video for you to low blood pressure by deep breathing so my question is have you confined your self on doing this technique rather than taking pills?
Very helpful, thanks, have a question though: I had already ordered a wrist monitor (yet to arrive) after which I found out it's not as accurate as the arm one, which would be more helpful: after getting its reading, to go to the pharmacy and have it checked with the arm monitor to find out the difference in readings then add (or subtract) that every time I use the wrist monitor? Or, should I consider the average of both readings to be the accurate one? Thanks loads!
You're supposed to relax when taking bp. Can't relax when I'm having to hold my arm across my chest. I don't think this guy knows what he is talking about. Have to follow instructions that came with your wrist monitor if you are going to use it. I personally don't like them. Not very accurate.
Hi have. A pacemaker and I do have irregular heartbeat at times I have been using a blood pressure monitor at home and it's been high 151/75 but when I took it into the drs my dr said the blood pressure monitor can't pick up the irregular heartbeats and this as why my blood pressure is reading high and inconsistenty when using the one at the drs which is the manual version and calibrated my blood pressure reads 130/85 but he saids with the one I have it as trouble detecting the presence of the mis beat I'm sort of conserned as I don't know who to believe as when my partner uses the same monitor her reading is normal but mine is high and low it's all over the place I'm on a blood pressure tablet which a different Dr put me on before I seen a different Dr I'm Very fit for my age very active as well I can walk very well up long high hills without any major issues I walk 4 to 5 miles a day at pace as well I'm thin build normal BMI I used to have a drink but stopped about 4 months ago when I first considerd having high blood pressure I don't smoke is there a blood pressure monitor out there for these types of heart beats or should I not carry on using the one I have thanks tom uk
Why is the left arm more accurate? I only Have the wrist monitor, and my readings are always higher on my right wrist than my left wrist. My left forearm is also visibly vascular and I barely see any vascular it’s in my right forearm.
You can look that up online. But why does it matter to you? Use the left wrist like the instructions always say to.They say the right is less accurate, so don't use it.
@dthorne4602 That was to you. This person was asking ""why. Is the left arm more accurate? And you responded to him by saying ""why does it matter to you"" He wants to know scientifically, medically. And he told him just do what they say.
These instructions are incorrect for every wrist machine I have used. Follow the instructions that came with your machine. Why do it a different way? His advice of putting it on the thumb bone is very strange and aligns with no advice I've ever received from any doctor - it must be specific to this machine in the video. Read the instructions, don't need youtube for that.
You should probably re-watch your other video when you took the blood pressure of the lady and then yourself actually your automatic blood pressure reading what is the highest of them all the wrist and the old school method was the most accurate yet you’re saying in this video the wrist is not as accurate as the self one
The "old school" one is the best, but it takes skill to do it and you can't do it yourself. Also, you can't have a doctor that has limited hearing. Ha Ha
The wrist monitors are a joke. Very tricky to get accurate reading. I have arm cuff. More accurate. Also my doctor checks bp manually. The electronic bp machine at heart doctor always hurts, squeezes too tight and always gives a ridiculous high reading.
The other thing is you should watch some of the videos with actual doctors that demonstrate and talk about the wrist one they point out you really shouldn’t bend your arm because it pinches the artery in the artery is smaller but that’s one is reading off of so your information is not correct
The normal blood pressure cuff DEFINITELY hurts my arm too much. BP measurements are no good if I'm gritting my teeth, trying not to squeak, and starting to cry.
Just tried it twice the way you showed and got ridiculously high readings both times...I had my blood pressure taken a month ago in the emergency room and even with my elevated anxiety & the excruciating pain of the automatic arm cuff, my reading was nowhere near as high as this was, just relaxing in my living room...Something is wrong...
