I bought ACA 500 and tried it, but didnt really like it, but gave it a new chance yesterday, and its really amazing. I wet sanded my car with 2000 grit paper, and with this product i can compound untill the scratches are gone without re applying more product, and it cuts really really good
Wow I didn't think it was possible to finish down with a rotary...! Only a true proffesional with years of experience can do that. One day that will be me.
ive used 3D Polishes for roughly 10 years , hands down the best ive used. i remember your old cutting compound used to beat everything id ever used before. ive used this ACA500 for roughly 12 months , its amazing
I just used the the ACA 500 X-Tra Cut and WOW it is the best cut on the market! The only issue is, I didn’t know you had a finishing compound. My fault! I had to use another brand to finish the job. That’ll be the last time I make that mistake. I’m buying your finishing compound tonight! Thank you!
I finally got my hands on these two. All I can say is that I was absolutely blown away. I wasn't expecting what they delivered. It's hard to speak so highly of one without unintentionally overshadowing the other, but the 520 polish is just sick. I've never seen that level of gloss from anything I've ever polished. I've been doing this for 22 years.
@@albertinogomes8172 Same here. Only, I use the AAT twins at work, and the ACA for my business. I have the Sonax, new Rupes, latest Megs, Jescar, and Menzerna. 3D is by far my favorite. Low to no dust, excellent cutting performance, easy to use, excellent finishing.
@@danlc95 I did that same process also back in the day.I still have all 3 in my cabinet, but only the #26 liquid gets used nowadays along with #21 2.0. I just love the long working time of the 520 and the wet look finish it leaves behind.👌 Did you use the 3M foam pad polish back then?Good stuff..👍
Damn I need to finally jump into a Rotary and start practicing. I'm still stuck using DAs to be extra safe but man a Rotary corrects so quick! And you can't put it in an angle to reach tight spaces and curves
A tutorial on how to use a Rotary and not burn through the clear would be good, especially since you have an expert. He made it look easy, but I've seen so many screwed up clear coats, especially on edges. It's so easy to burn through the clear. It's one thing if you are a body shop, you just repaint it, costs money, but it can be done fairly cheaply and quickly. But a detailer burns through the clear and there goes all of his profit+ on that paint correction having to pay for an entire panel to be repainted.
Hello 3D I love you're products, I can honestly say it beats all those high end meguiars, 3m etc....its amazing how good the xtra cut is. Can you please put a link below for the wool pad that's used in this video. Many thanks
Looks good but why didn't u put the camera close to the side that was finished like u did when before worked on looks great but didn't get to see up close
Hi Juan, Mike Phillips here. This video is 4 years old. I wasn’t with the 3D team at that time thus I have no idea why they didn’t get that shot you want but it’s too late now. Here’s the big picture - our products work GREAT!
What kind of car was this test done on? Just trying to judge the hardness of the paint. As I've said before, my experience with AAT 501 was great as long as I was working on soft paint. 501 on hard paint was useless. This new product looks promising.
First off, thanks for making this video! Steve, I also had this same problem with AAT 501. Just isn't aggressive enough for hard clear and could be difficult to remove on soft clears. Would like to know how ACA 500 differs from AAT 501 and how ACA 520 differs from AAT 502. They retail at $79.99 which makes them the most expensive compound and polish on the market. Why are they $20 more expensive than even the AAT compound and polish?
Normally I'm buffing on fresh paint that has been sanded. I've been using AAT but just purchased the ACA500 and 520. What benefits can I expect see see with these over the AAT?
Excelentes químicos No cabe duda uno de los mejores químicos en la industria de detallado los felicito muchachos sigan poniendo videos así y superaremos la competencia felicidades
Can you do a video comparing/contrasting ACA 500 and AAT 501? I switched from 3M compound to AAT 501 last year and it has been amazing, but now I want to know in-depth the differences between these 2 compounds.
3D Products I cut with the lamb's wool pad, but is one compound necessarily *better* than the other, or are they just for different applications? For reference I'm using it in a body shoppe setting, both on fresh paint buffing out 3000 grit scratches, and on paint such as medium to heavy scratches on customers' cars.
After compound and polish, if you want the finish to be protected, you should wax it. Some polishes have wax in them. 3D HDSPEED and AAT 505 leave a protective finish.
I'd be interested in hearing more about the new Alpha Ceramic Alumina abrasives used in this compound and polish. Are they diminishing or non-diminishing? How is this abrasive technology different from AAT?
@@alexisamtosta And just to note - while ACA500 is a hell of a cutting compound, nothing I've used from any company beats ACA520 polish for finishing. Not the new or old Rupes, no Meguiar's, no Sonax Perfect Finish or NP 03-06, or Menzerna. Some are almost equal (Menzerna), but nothing has exceeded it.
@@alexisamtosta - My pleasure man! In my environment, One is more of a "medium" polishing compound that sits between 500 and 520. Where One might not cut enough, 500 will. Where One might not finish out, 520 will. That's just me though. Others have different experiences.
@@3DCarCare my apologies for not being thorough with my comment. it looks fine after the second step but the paint unless it has a low hardness level should not look like it did at 1:38 after the first step. that look after compounding may of been understandable in the 20th century but not today. only very faint holograms at most should be present not those heavier holograms and swirls. I am pedantic and fussy about my products of choice but its the best way to be. polish formulations need a big evolution or a revolution. abrasive tech for most manufacturers is far better today but formula's are still old type or only slightly improved.
@@matthewgibb2640 Is there some compound and polish with a more advanced abrasive than ours? I get what you are saying, in the end, it is the finish you end up with after polishing and how long it took to get there right?
@@3DCarCare ive not tested anything newer than aat 501 and 502 and yes they corrected quick but finished not as good as my main go to. Its not about how quick the job got done, its all about the finish and leaving either no marring/holograms with the first step or the shallowest/finest hologramming that will come out in one pass of the next pad for more time to enhance the paint. As for abrasive tech, alot of companies have great abrasives now but the formulations of most are still terrible and some still use crystalline silica or use kerosene to aid in cutting by softening the paint (so ive been told by many) whether dearomatised kerosene or others and are water in oil formulas not oil in water formulas. Getting rid of cheap solvents like naptha/stoddard solvent cyclohexasiloxane from skin care industry (carcinogenic) glycerin and hydrogen treated distillate (64742-55-8 carcinogenic) and using far higher quality lubricants and new type of abrasive material for quicker defect removal at ultra low machine speeds on any machine but with a better finish than alum oxide would be great and a true water based formula. A Solvent based formula will never match a water based polish for overall gloss. I need to test 3d one next. I never get haze with microfibre pads yet many do. Ps lots of wool pad tech out there, love to get someone to make pads from ultra fine grade tasmanian wool of 12-16 micron or less, have been talking with a producer about their wool but dont have the funds to make it happen..id also like a pad developed that corrects paint a little stronger than wool and microfibre but runs cool and finishes like a foam pad or close. Universal pad idea ive had for over a decade i think we will get too eventually but not there yet.
@@matthewgibb2640 our "yellow" wool pad is real lambs wool and it is more aggressive than most. shop.3dproducts.com/8-yellow-xtra-cut-lambs-wool-pad-p768.aspx
Trying hard to be like 3M? 3M EX compound and polish is much better. You can keep trying to be like 3M but they are always steps ahead of the competition. Don't be fooled by 3D
We switched from 3M compound to 3D 501 (AAT) at ny shoppe last year and my friend, I tell you, there is literally zero reason to still be using 3M compound. We use less product, there's way less dust, the cleanup is much easier, and it has a long working time (doesn't break down as easily). Currently doing research on these ACA products to see if they're better than the AAT.
